Changes to the show?

Is this from the article that quoted Celine as saying that Rene saw her career as his masterpiece, and, if anything ever happened to him, she would keep going for him? Because that was pretty much a direct quote from My Story, My Dream and about how Celine felt in *1992*, when she was just beginning her English language career. The way the article presented it, it sounded like something current, but it's not -- she's in a completely different place now.

 

I personally do think that Celine will sing, in some capacity, all her life, but I don't think that quote is that relevant now. And my guess for the next manager would be Dave Platel, who's been Rene's associate for years, and who took over when he had cancer in 1999.

 

I just hope Rene recovers completely and that Celine and Rene have many more years together, regardless of whether he's actively working or not.

I didn't realize how old that quote was when I first saw it. I forgot about Dave Platel. He would be a good choice too. I always thought Patrick might be in the running as well.

I honestly do think it'll come out on the day of or around as a promotion for the USF. Or just to coincide with it or something like that!

Actually I would love that. Pretty much the only cover I'd like to see stay is Mr. Paganini (and RDMH) because she really does have fun with that song. It's a wonderful song and she gives so much to it!

Sometimes I feel like Celine is this incredible, magical Orca whale and the Coliseum is her SeaWorld tank where she performs every night in exchange for fish (in her case, millions of dollars). I understand that she's giving the people what they want, but at a certain point it starts to feel like a spectacle where the masses come to marvel at this incredible creature, this freak of nature who always does the same things, night after night after night. It's amazing she still has the stamina for it, but then again, she's superhuman.

yeah i agree w/ all of u that this show needs some changes to it since shes been doing this show for over 3 years now, even though yes the show has done very well in the past, it needs to be freshened up very soon or its not going to last for another 5 years in my opinion because everybody will be getting bored & tired of it before then, sorry but most people are not going to want to spend hundreds of dollars to see the same show for 8 years lol... she needs to remove some songs & add new songs, especially some from her lmbtl album!!!! :)

-"loved me back to life"- which i think should have never been removed from the show @ all, im curious as to why it was removed since celine said that she loved that song & did seem to enjoy performing it, but anyway i digress lol...

 

 

-"incredible"- a very smart move to add this song to the show since its her current single, & even though her backup singer doesnt sing as good as neyo, im glad that shes performing this song & the bootleg that i had heard of it on youtube sounds really good... now if only sony would release that darn music video already lol... again i digress lol...

 

 

-"somebody loves somebody"- this is one of the best songs on the album bar none!!!! not only to me does it screeeeeams to be celines next single, but it also screams to be in her vegas show too since she needs a few more upbeat songs in the show these days...

 

 

-"water & a flame"- even though that daniel guy who had originally wrote this song acted like a butthead lol, i think that celine did a really good version of this song that would fit perfectly w/ the orchestra, & i think her version of this song is waaaaay better than the original as well lol...

 

 

-"thankful"- another beautiful ballad that is very fitting w/ the orchestra, so it belongs in this show very much...

 

 

-"breakaway"- another really beautiful ballad, it also fits really well w/ the orchestra & even though her voice is really high pitched in the album version of this song, she can always lower the notes & pitch of this song when singing it live, she did that w/ lmbtl the song & incredible, & to me she still sounds great when doing both of those songs...

 

 

-"unfinished songs"- another upbeat & poppy song that her vegas show could use right now, & i really like the very positive lyrics & vibe that this song has, it could be the new "im alive" that she sung in her "a new day" show, which is another positive & upbeat song that i really love from celine, again a few upbeat & uplifting songs need to be added to this show really badly...

 

 

-"thank you"- not only was it written by neyo, who i think is a really good singer & a good songwriter, but i think its also an very uplifting & beautiful ballad, & in a way it is her saying thank you to all of her fans & her loved ones throughout the years lol, so this song should also be in the show as well for that very reason as it could be a tribute to her fans & to her loved ones...

 

 

even though i do know that not all of these songs would be added to her show, even though i would love to see that actually happen lol... but even if only half of those songs were actually added to her show i think that would be awesome & fantastic, & i know that most of u on this forum would love that too, now if only we could somehow bring this to the attention of celine, rene, ken ehrlich, sony, & whoever else @ caesars so that these changes could actually become a reality, but i have no idea on how to do that since sony dont seem to ever respond to celine facebook & twitter accounts, how shocking lol, like any of us arent surprised about that by now lol hahahaha... :)

I agree I do love the show but I don't see how it's going to work like this for another 5 years. Had the contract renewal not happened then I'd understand them not wanting to touch the show.

Alright I love this setlist! Although I wish Mr. Paganini was still in there

When it launched in 2011, the show had such a nice mix of technology (Moment Factory's backdrops) along with a timeless elegance. I love this combination. The reviews were so strong because she was finally embracing her Barbra Streisand-ness. Whereas, A New Day... was attempting to be groundbreaking and new (which it was and I adored that show).

 

But it is time for change. There's a way to maintain what's working about the show -- but freshen it up. For instance, there should be a new opening to the show. Time to lose Open Arms. They can even keep the curtain drop -- just with a new song. A Celine song. A song that's a bit more epic would be lovely.

 

There was something so moving about the opening to A New Day... I remember sitting in the audience with the giant mirror onstage -- and they're zooming in on people's faces. And everyone's laughing and having fun. Then, suddenly, the lights go out the mirror shatters -- and the GIANT HUM of the song begins. And the enormous staircase appears across the screen on the stage. It was magical.

 

I can only imagine there will be a handful of new changes before the next round of shows!

Does anyone else severely dislike that corded microphone she seems to only use now?! Lol. I mean at the end of the day it's her voice we wanna hear but I think seeing that giant cord everywhere and hanging down is so ugly! I wonder what the reason is? Maybe she likes the sound of it best? Surely there is a microphone that can have the same sound but wireless...do you think she just likes it cuz it gives her slmething extra to play with and do? I wonder why the change after using the wireless handheld sennheiser mic since a new day

I do think this to. I thought I was the only one! But yeah, for some songs she's switched to another wireless mic. Yep, I loved the sennheiser mics! But during the antwerp show (11/21) she was constantly cutting to the side of the stage to turn the mic up or whatever.

I was just listening to "S'il Suffisait D'aimer" the other day thinking it'd be perfect for vegas!

 

I had thought about "S'il suffisait d'aimer" for a bit, but decided against it for one simple reason: Celine's recent comments about "D'elles." By putting in a "D'elles" song, it would help give a bit more insight into her The Artist. She has expressed regret and disappointment for not having given that album more attention. By adding one of its songs into "Celine," she would be giving more energy and love to a project she dearly believes in.

I wrote this very hastily, please forgive me on the sloppiness. I keep feeling she should do a show with the songs that have meant the most to her AND her career. Therefore, the hits would be included, to satisfy casual fans, yet she could include ones like TCOML because of the meaning between her and Rene, Ce n'était qu'un rêve because Maman wrote it/first song, BATB because she mentions how it was her first step into the mainstream American market, What a Feeling as it was the song she was singing when she decided to learn English, Power of the Dream for the Olympics moment, which she has said in the past was the greatest moment in her career, ANDHC after her first Vegas run... WDMHBN as her first step into American tv on Johnny Carson, God Bless America for the 9/11 tribute moment... blah. In some way it could turn the show, which is great, into more of a story, have more of a theme, a vision into Celine, and it would give her a chance to sing and tell a story.

Has anyone else thought that Live (For The One I Love) would be an amazing show opener? The curtain could drop at the climax towards the end of the song, on the big "liiiiiiiiive" note, as there is lots of build up just before that part.
