Changes to the show?

My assumption is they planned to change more before the new shows started around the New Year. But with Rene's health -- it was put on the back burner.

 

I hope that by the summer, they add in a couple more songs from the new album. And even other songs from Celine's catalogue.

That seems like a reasonable idea. It would make sense to have a break- so that they could add new songs, rework the arrangements and whatnot. It'd be hard to learn something new in the middle of a run of the shows. Incredible may have been learned during the last break, who knows? And maybe we'll get new costume changes. It'd be nice to see that

yeah celine does need to add more songs from her loved me back to life album!!!!!!!! im glad that "incredible" is a part of her vegas show now!!!!!!!! its such a shame that "loved me back to life" was removed from the show, but there are quite a few other songs from that wonderful album that could be put in the show, as well as some of her older songs from her also wonderful previous albums that arent currently in the show & many that celine hasnt perform on stage that much that would be great to hear in concert, @ least to me they would!!!!!!!! :) :) :) :)

yeah i know that is probably a couple of more songs more than she most likely has in her actual show now lol, i have no idea of that number since i have actually never been to any of her shows, so maybe a couple could be taken out of my playlist lol... but in general i would loooooove to hear these songs live someday, especially since most of them are her minor hits from years ago that she hasnt performed in concert for many years now, or in some cases @ all, & some songs from her new album that have never been performed live @ all or only have been performed once or has only been performed a couple of times ever...

 

ahhhhh it would be nice to see & hear concert wouldnt it, i would love it if i ever get to see her in concert, which i know would be a really big long-shot, since i live all the way in maryland & i really cant afford to go to las vegas, that city would be way too expensive for me, but hey a girl can dream cant she right lol hahahaha... well i just thought i would share this w/ u all fellow celine dion fans, thank u so much, have a great day!!!!!!!! :) :) :) :)

Unless Rene's health drastically improves within the next coming months, I think we should all prepare ourselves for "Celine" not changing much for the next year or so. Right now she is putting her time and energies into her family. (Rehearsing new numbers for the Vegas show are probably pretty low on her priority list right now.) Furthermore, IF Rene passes, which would be very sad (to say the least), Celine may just buy out her contract at Caesars, regardless what her quote about her career being "Rene's masterpiece" says and implies. IF this were to happen, I would remove the James Bond medley and put "Somebody Loves Somebody" and "Water And A Flame" in its place. I would then swap out "Lullabye (Goodnight, My Angel)" for "Thank You" in its place while showing images of her entire family on screen (not just Rene and/or her children).

I appreciate some of your ideas, such as adding "Somebody Loves Somebody" and "A New Day Has Come (Radio Remix)." However, I don't agree with keeping as many covers in the show. I have always found it sad that a show simply titled "Celine" opens with a cover of a Journey song. The opening number should be a Celine original, such as "I Want You To Need Me." (Vocally demanding or not be damned.)

 

I would also find an interlude containing elements of five different songs to be a bit random. I would have the last interlude include elements of only two songs: "That's The Way It Is" and "I'm Alive."

 

Lastly, if there are going to be multiple French songs in her Vegas show, then "Ce n'etait qu'un reve" should be one of them, as that song is TRULY where everything started.

Furthermore, she and Caesars have such a great relationship with one another, that if the worst were to happen, I'm sure they'd have no problem making an addendum to Celine's contract to allow her to move on. She could always come back a few years later down the road to continue the contract. That's not to say Caesars would roll over and allow themselves to be walked on, though. I'm sure they would require some sort of restitution, be it completing her contact at a later date or doing a "buy out".

I'm fine with a few covers being in the show. Especially if they have an intimate story behind them ("All By Myself," "Ne me quitte pas" and "At Seventeen," for example.) However, a song such as "Open Arms" is just random, especially as a show opener.

 

As for the interludes, I'm aware the segments of the songs you quoted would only be a few seconds. However, I still find five songs to be a bit much for a quick 1-2 minute interlude. That's why I would edit the songs included down to only a couple. This is one of those cases where I firmly believe less would be more.

 

In regards to "Ce n'etait qu'un reve," I believe the song could still fit in her current show. Even if it were just used as part of the intro video before Celine takes the stage.

I think you are right. She passed once by this already and proved that fans meant for her lots and lots, are almost as her family and such attitude was supported by her true family (e.g. by her brother, look at 4:05).

I agree! I have never understood why out of all of the new album's songs they wouldn't include WAAF - ESPECIALLY since it is perfectly set up to be performed with a full orchestra! They really do need to take a look at what they have done to the setlist and try to revamp a few things during one of her breaks. It's getting a little bit messy...

 

And while they're at it, it wouldn't hurt to update her speeches! It's been three years and she's basically saying the same things still.

I love the idea of some updates to the show and maybe for the summer run we may get a few small changes. But in the grand scheme of things I think rehearsals and changing the show are just not priority for Celine right now , her priority is focusing on Rene getting better and the family spending time together. I think all her down time in the next few months will be focused on that. Il be very surprised if she does any promo for the album or if the show gets some big changes when it starts the summer run.

I just hope she enjoys her long break from the show as much as she can , as she certainly deserves to :-)

Also some of you guys should be working for Céline , te have some awesome set list ideas that I think Celine would love , especially the inclusion of an extra French song or 2

bond medley works pretty well i think but don't like no body does it better that much though

I've always felt for a show simply titled after Celine's name, that it should open with one of her own songs, not a cover. Especially a cover of a very well-known hit song like "Open Arms." "I Want You To Need Me" could work well as it starts off soft and slow and then cascades into powerful vocals. The curtain drop could still work with this song.

 

In regards to "Qui peut vivre sans amour?," I believe the song could work well if the songs leading up to it have a gradual rock sound to them. Furthermore, there is A LOT that could be done with the 31-piece orchestra. It could be one of the standout moments of the show if arranged properly.

 

As for the "End Credits" idea, I would create some a la "A New Day..."

 

As for the collaboration video montage idea, thank you! I've always felt a quick video montage showing Celine working with Barbra, Bee Gees, Luciano Pavarotti, Prince (if footage exists), R. Kelly, Andrea Bocelli, etc. would help segue into the duets segment of the show very well.

I do think sometimes (and maybe it's just because it's too new of a song) why don't they let her sing Skyfall during the James Bond section? She loves Adele and I think her voice would suit that song perfectly!

As much as I love some of the additions in this setlist, I don't think that she would add QPVSA and TT for the general audience that sees the show, and get rid of ABM and RDMH. We can surely dream though. Mine would focus on the work and the actual person that Celine does/is.
