What an amazing performance. This song is so underrated. Requires so much vocal skill. The head notes at the end, the long notes throughout the song, higher notes in other parts, a bit of a second language in parts....the change in voice in the words place & grace.....

 

Lord! This song is every bit as difficult as anything else, and she nailed it. One of her greatest performances in a long time. Certainly better than all her performances of this song prior, except MAYBE the one in 2002 with Josh Groban. And to know we'll have the performance in high quality is even better.

Yes, I believe so. I haven't heard confirmation either way, but assuming that nobody has mentioned anything aside from The Prayer (which has been mentioned a lot on Twitter and YouTube by concert go-ers), I'm 99% positive she only sang The Prayer.

What an amazing improvement from the telethon, she did not sound nasally and hit all the notes perfectly. I got goosebumps when she started singing, and judging from the smile on Andrea's face he did too. I can't wait to see this on the DVD in good quality (let's just hope they don't cut it).

 

I'm just so sad that she did so many shows in NY and we only have the one performance to show for it. It would have been perfect if she promoted some songs. Her voice is generally in great shape, so I hope she records soon.

Amazing performance and it really reminds me of some of the legendary performances from over the years. You know a song like this will stand the test of time, it's a true classic and I think it's great that after all this time Celine & Andrea are still performing it together. It saddens me a little though as it reminds me that the LTAL era was all about duets and since then Celine hasn't really got involved in any in terms of recording.

 

She sounded (and looked) amazing though and this really sets us up for all the interviews to come. I just have my own little prayer (see what I did there? LOL) that she has been recording recently as she's sounding the best she has in ages.

I wish I had better things to say about the experience of waiting and getting into Central Park yesterday, (had nothing to do with Celine), but I can honestly say it was one of the worst times I've ever had getting to a concert.

 

Nikki and I had a ticket to enter from Central Park West, but of course, since people were entering from east side as well, we naturally assumed it would be the same set up. We would later find that anyone who waited on the west side would, essentially, be screwed completely. Anyway, we got there at about 10am and were about 15-20 people deep in line. Any one could have imagined we would have easily made it up front for sure.

 

Once we started going in, the line started to break - people were running up from behind us and cutting. There was NO organization at all on the security staff's part. People who may have gotten there at 3pm were even getting ahead of us because no one really seemed to have any sort of clue how to handle a crowd of this size, at least from my perspective.

 

When we finally got in, we were told OUR section was all the way BEHIND the VIP chairs which, I'm sorry, is NOT the "25'" the website said was as close as we could get. The VIP section was ONLY on the west side. Anyone who was on the east side got to go all the way up to the front of the stage with no problem. People were going crazy and yelling at our ushers and not one of them seemed to care about how unfair it was. Especially since many people, myself included, paid for these tickets. I went up to about three ushers and sobbed my eyes out because I just couldn't control it and they said it was "first come first serve" seating. Right. The map clearly shows two identical entrance points on either side of the park. I could fight this with the right people, I'm sure, but what's the use now?

 

For most of the show, we were hunched down behind the chairs (because you can't stand, so we literally could see only the stage lights). When I got up to go to the bathroom, I noticed some space by the screens, so we ended up moving there to, essentially, watch the show on TV. We even bought poster board to make signs for her

 

Celine sounded magnificent, as always, but the night was completely ruined because of such an unfair seating arrangement. The people in front of us had CAMPED OUT the night before and were all the way in the back with us. How they didn't raise you-know-what is beyond me.

 

The only consolation to this is that it was not her show. Had it been an entire show for her, I'm not sure how much trouble I would have gotten myself into.
