It sounds like Andrea sings "la la la" over and over before finishing the line. The orchestra are then too slow and that's when Celine looked at them before starting her line at the "right" time. If you watch a bootleg video from the actual show, you can hear that the music when Celine sings "we ask that life be kind" doesn't start at the right time, and Celine looks at the orchestra before singing her line in time with the music, even though it's later than it should be. In the DVD they edited this problem, so the timing is a lot better, but Andrea's line "La forza che ci dà" has been altered, and if you listen carefully it sounds like he is singing "La la la forza che ci dà". I think it was more obvious in this promo video than the final DVD version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZUdWQcJn-o...feature=related As for the drums, live arrangements give them the freedom to add whatever they want! In regards to her voice, it's certainly the best it's been for a very long time, although I think her best performance of The Prayer is still the World Children's Day Concert in 2002 - that performance was perfection from start to finish, as her voice was very strong and powerful that night. This Central Park performance is definitely very good, possibly her 2nd best performance (the only negatives are that she sounded nasal on certain words that should be really soft and quiet "where we'll be SAFE", and she sounded a bit tired in the more difficult second half of the song). The great thing about this performance is that it's in the same key as the WCD performance (-1 semitone from the original), unlike the 2008 CBS Special & TCWT which was -2. There is one live performance in the original key, and that is the Oscars 1999, but Celine struggled more towards the end of the song. The TCWT performances in Europe were very good, but by the time she was in the US things got worse... Edited November 16, 2011 at 08:47 PM by Timster Quote
