Celine's voice

since 2004, I think Celine's voice has changed..it's not like it used to be, powerful, beautiful, breathtaking. However, I still love her..what do you think?

she is older, of course her voice has changed...with age the voice change and its more noticeable in singer.

If you compare her voice on Au coeur du stade with her vocals on Taking chances World tour: The concert, you'll se that there's a huge difference, but it's also because of her fixation for turning her voice into a nassal sound.

Her voice had already changed in 2002 after her break, it was deeper and more nuanced than it used to be. But if you listen to all her albums, you can notice that her voice changed a lot throughout her career and it's normal I think. Listen to the "Celine Dion" album, her voice is not the same than on the Unison album, and on TCOML she sounds different than on the "Celine Dion" album. Even on Let's talk about love, she doesn't sound like on Falling Into You. I think this is what makes her albums interesting because she always brings new "colors" on her voice and explores different sides of it^^

 

By the way, in 2003/2004, her voice was too nasal and less powerfull than it used to be and I think there were bad years for Celine's voice

Well yes her vocal cords changed throughout the years just like any other body parts, sometimes its for the best sometimes its for the worst.

The listeners will decide if its for the better or for the worst depending on their music tastes.

 

But I think 2 major events changed her voice, in my opinion for the worst (but still better than any other singer):

 

1. Two years break + RC

2. 5 years nonstop concert in the desert.

 

And we are currently in the 3rd transformation event of her voice: 3 years maybe 5 in the desert again, luckily half shows this time.

 

Her peak quality voice, to me, lasted 3 years: 1996 thru 1998 (FIY thru TAST)

Her voice sounds deeper but she sounded awesome and not as "nassally" during open night in Vegas in March! Obvously, some of the harder songs are in a lower key compared to the CDs. I think she knows it has changed but as we saw during AND and other file footage she takes good care of her voice. She knew she needed a break after the TC tour and I'm glad she did it! As others people of said she sings from the heart and doesn't worry as much about the technical aspect (as opposed to the 90's era).

I agree with you... Her voice has always been changing, since she was 12 till today. Like everybody's !! And I love all of it's changes...

Yesss...yesss...I think it's because of her 5 years nonstop concert in vegas...

 

Once Celine said that her voice was in charge of her..and now, she's in charge...anyway, i prefer her voice takes the lead..hahaha..she sounded more beautiful back then....but she's still the best compared to singers in her era like carey, houston, etc..

and yes of course her voice is changing.... and in that topic i said that from mid 2003 Celine's voice began to go down....... but then slowly i think from late 2005 or in 2006 Celine's voice just slowly getting back and in 2007 it was back!! and then the tour.... it was alright in a way .... and then the new show back to top!

The voice is not going anywhere and is not coming back (except when the person is ill) Celine's voice is very different now than it was before. It's not that clear and high as it was, but it's normal, it happens to anyone with the age! The important thing is that it's still beautiful and powerful and we love it as we always did.

I think her voice now, since her Oprah 2010 appearence where she sang Hallelujah was and is better than the Taking Chances area. I think her voice now is closer to 2002/A New Day Has Come, with the new sharpness than she had in the mid 90's. Taking Chances area was nasally. She isn't as nasal as she was then, I think the vocal rest, and definantly the training helped.

 

In some ways, and some songs I think she sounds more powerful than ever- WDMHBN, Goldfinger, POL end note, The Reason [lipped or not they sound better today than every, in my opinion.] Her voice has a fluidity and grace than was previously lacking.

Celine's voice actually has never stopped changing. It has sounded different in each era of her career and it's a normal thing. She's growing up, then getting mature... Her voice changes, evolves just like every other part of her. She's still able to perform live and doesn't 'kill' the songs (many others do it). She's still very, very good.
