When i was 11, i started secondary school and my first class was english with a lovely teacher. Anyway our first task was to introduce ourselves with our name and a fact about ourselves, i answered with "Hi my name's emma and i'm a HUGE celine dion fan" of course everyone laughed and the teacher began askign questions about why i was a fan and that she couldn't believe an 11year old girl could like celine dion. By christmas we were doing a project about titanic and surprise surprise, i knew everything about it! anyway, people began to realise i was a celine fan through and through and at the end of that year the same english teacher went to vegas. and she brought me back a celine keyring! Actually the coolest teacher ever i think you'll all agree! After that i began being more open about being a celine fan, i wore t-shirts to school and hoodies and read books about herand I wrote english essays about her - getting an a* of course! I still had people making comments about being a fan but when i started upper school last year everyone accepted me. For english we all got asked to produce a presentation on something that intrested us, i did celine! we were given a 5minute time slot, but mine took up 45minutes of the hour long lesson. Eveyone laughed at how much i knew about her and i took in my celine collection of merchandise, The whole two boxes of it! Afterwards the class demanded that i put one of her dvd's on and listen to a few songs, i put a new day in and the entire class danced to "i'm alive". My classes were really accepting of me and i even managed to turn a few people into celine fans, most days someone asks me how celine and the twins are doing and are genuinely concerned. It's really nice to know i might have made a difference to people's attitudes, i mean even my teacher brought in a cake on celine's birthday and we all listened to her sing! My identity now is celine, everyone around school knows me as the "celine girl" and i'm proud of it!I left school about a month ago now and every single person who wrote in my leaver's book mentioned celine in one way or another. One teacher wrote me a paragraph and used celine songs through it, here it is: "The first time ever i saw your face" was in year 7 and "in some small way" you have come so far in that time. What will i remember when i think of you? "it's all coming back to me now" - a myriad of memories- beginning with a huge box of memorabilia of celine, book loans galore, fantastic coloured pens, heart to hearts at difficult times, a gorgeous collage of our literature class, an impromptus sleepover at London with all your friends, friendship ups and downs and bag packs. "these are special times" and need remembering as such. "The power of the dream" can guide you along the way. "a new day has come" as we prepare to say goodbye and "goodbye's the saddest word" but "that's the way it is" and has to be as you find one door is closing as another opens. "I believe in you" - you need to believe in yourself. You will go far and achieve a "miracle". Your "heart will go on"- Be true to it! I love the amount of effort she put into this! it really shows she cares i'm a celine fan! i just thought it was nice to share. I hope this helps show that if people are really meant to be in your life and are worth the time and effort then they'll accept you for exactly who you are and your interests; and if not then i wouldn't waste your time or effort on them! When I tell people I went to Vegas just to see my Idol in concert 3 times most of them say I can think of better ways to spend my money!! It came to the last song at the end of the night and the dj asked "is emma on the dancefloor?" well, everyone looked at me then he said that he had Celine Dion it's all coming back to me now to play for me as the last song. I found out it was the same teacher who had requested it for me, she had remembered it was my favourite song and asked it to be played. Anyway, everyone sang along and danced with me, even the teachers! i had an amazing night and that song being played just made my prom! Quote

In addition to utterly hating when people make fun of us, what I hate almost even more is when they make fun of her.
