Why do people make fun of Celine fans?

You gys want to talk about nicknames? My booger-brained little bro called her Celine Pee-on, and Celine BeGone. I did not at all find that amusing.
I am sure we have plenty of closet fans, no wonder though that some of them are acared to come out of the closet.
i think we all reflect and mirror each other. There must be something in Celine that people either like and want but just can't admit, or something about themselves that they do not like but see/project in her. either way...
Today in art class, me and one other person who I have made a bigger fan of than he was before, we had her on and another student walked in. She hates Celine and, when upon consideration I turned her down, she actually said thank you, but then added that she does not like hearing the same song seven times in an hour, wich is almost impossible...but...I hate that we have to turn celine off because this lady does not like her. In this case, I wish majority rules because we have two of us, and one of her so ha ha ha !!
In my morning class, we have a blind guy who hates her! Why I am so surrounded by Celine-haters beats me. Maybe their hate of her is equal to my intense love of her, you know, that ying/yang opposite crap!
Anyway, I told this story in another topic in fun and games, but he came to me one day while I was putting the finishing touches on a bowl and said I should carve her initials in to it. I love her, okay, yes, but why am i being made fun of for that? Maybe it was a genuine suggestion, but it sure as heck did not feel like it.
Then, today, as I was leaving my morning class, a woman told me they're going to have an oldies dance later next month. I told her I'm not crazy about 50's and 60's music, but she said no, they're playing 80's and 90's and Celine will be played if I come. So, fellow fans, I am happy to announce and report that our Celine is now...old!!! but we already knew that.
I said that if they play her, I warned her, I Will start singing and she said they'd cut her off to hear me. Sweet and flattering, but one of my biggest absolute pet pieves is when she is interrupted in the middle of a song.
Singing her is one of the ways i show my love of her. If it were in a room with a lot of you guys on CDF, I could do it in a minute cuzz you would get it, but these guys don't like her. So I need to protect myself and will not expose my singing to her, of her, with her, to non-fans who need no more amo against me and her than they already have!!

Hahaha... ying/yang crap, hahaha...

Yes, some of my friends are always making fun of me cause I like her (not in a mean way), but in the end and after talking and talking about her with them, they always came to the same conclusion... Nobody sings like her !!

So, if they like her or not I don't care... We shouldn't care... It's our decision, our life. It's like with everything in life. We are the ones who have to decide what to do with our lifes. If they like it, great. But if they don't, it's ok too.

Haha, yes! I encourage you to sing too. Never ever let anyone make fun of you for liking Celine. There's nothing wrong with any music tastes, we all like what we like.

I think also that we should stick together as her fans. We are loyal to her, we should be loyal to one another, even if we Do Not Always agree.

What kind of computer do you use? I was reading in another topic that you are legally blind. I commend you for your strength and a beautiful voice I'm sure you have! If you need help, I'm very good with technology, I'm just a click away :flowers:

It seems like mine and Haheather's friends just sit and think of all the cruel names and ways they can make fun of Celine. It's pathetic :glare:

I think some poeple really do sit around thinking that...but you know what, I just feel sorry for them cuzz they ain't got no life...

It's not about my coupter that I have, it's about my not seeing and being able to click on certain things, not having a mouse. My computer talks and some things that are imbeded or HTML or objects/pictures come out sounding like gibberish to my talking screen-reader. I'm sure you are great with regular technology, but adaptive technology is a whole other monster.

Back to topic, though, I do hope to have an opportunity to show the fans here my love of Celine through song, but I just hope some certain negative ones will not be as critical of me as they are her. But for those who PM me and I get to know them and you have Skype, we can, for now, do it that way. I really believe we need to be there for one another. We get each other, why we love her, how we love her. People have, to the letter, writen the very sentence I have thought but thought no one else could ever posibly feel like I do. I really thought I was the only one here. But we all feed/fue one another's love of her, as it should be!

People just don't like the fact that she's real and she's genuine. I just had someone ask me why I liked her so much and I said because she is freakin' awesome. She cares about her fans and she keeps them in mind always. She's honest with herself and her fans and she lets people see the real her. I get so mad because when my family members get mad at me for not doing something, they say all I can think about is "that Celine Dion sl** or that B**** which really makes me mad because she is neither of those things. They just know that that makes me really upset and when they call her that, I feel like crying. I try not to let it get to me but sometimes it just really bothers me.

Exactly !! That's the mean reason why she gets some bad reviews sometimes... They can't believe that she's really happy and thankful for everything that she has. And that she's a perfectionist... They just feel so envious of her...

Sometimes people get upset with me also for not getting things done and say it's because I am too busy with/thinking about/distracted by her, but you know, there are worse things to be doing, drugs, guns, etc. They should be happy it's that and not something more destructive. She makes us better, why can't they see it? I am more than I would have ever been before on my own because of her. I of course am part of that as I must choose to surrender to her good influence, but still...

Some people's kids, as a member here taught me to say!!!LOL

I'm new here, but this caught my eye. I am a victim of verbal harassment from non-fans. They say I'm in to cougars because she is older than I am. Interestingly enough, two of the biggest harassers came out and said that they actually LIKE Celine's music. I lent one of them 'All The Way...A Decade of Song' and she asked why. She thought it was to get her 'addicted' and than call her a hypocrite. Actually, I wanted her to listen to a CD of Celine so she could see how great of a singer she is and why I love her. Not that calling her a hypocrite would be so bad

Hmmmm..... Easy for you to say.

This comment really concerns me. Did something happen here to make you feel you can't be open and real and yourself? This is what we do here, most of us anyway as there are always those few complainers. We love her in a way that most find obsessive and to be committed, I would hate to think that something has happened that you find this compromised for yourself. you deserve to have just as much of an experience of her and of being in to her without judgment or being made fun of as the rest of us!

That's true. It's not like Celine has someone comb/search the net for sites/content like ours, although if she did...oh, the things she'd hear/read, some good, most good, but the occasional harsh criticism, nothing she's never heard before.

I do wish sometimes we could use the power of this forum to communicate with/get through to her. Forums can be wonderful online data collection tools for artists and ways/tools to communicate with and understand/get to know their fans. we are the real, true Celine fans, not saying the ones on her official website aren't, but when we come to show we love her, hell, we do it "all the way!"
