Why do people make fun of Celine fans?

I think alot of people are unsure about Céline because she's just so comfortable in her own skin and doesn't really care what people think, where as alot of artists these days seem to manufactured; differing from the norm. That's only my opinion though!

When I told my best friend, whos a big indie fan, that I adored Céline, she went and bought one of her cd to see what it is I liked! She never laughed, and told me what songs she liked! I think it depends on whether you have true friends, who accept youx

Most people I speak to think it's kinda funny I'm a Celine fan. Most can't deny she's an amazing singer. But does anyone get the feeling as soon as they know you're a fan they jus can't help makin a joke out of it!

 

People at work generally make fun out of her to annoy me. I think you have to laugh it off. Celine isn't a trend, she's a classic - especially if you're a younger fan and your friends are into the latest fad - people can be off about her.

 

But in the end I think true friends respect each others tastes - all those guys who were takin the piss bought me a mousemat and mug they had specially printed with photos of Celine on them. They thought it was hysterical but I was made up with them!

 

One of my friends though I don't think will ever be impressed with Celine - I missed her wedding to go to a concert - even though I already went to the same concert the night before!

I'm really happy for you that you have new friends who accept you for who you are. I agree on that, it's such a silly thing to laugh at someone about. Teenagers are so obsessed with being the same and go with the flow, is it even impossible to have an idol that aren't among the "coolest" new acts? They can think whatever they want about it but when they have nasty comments and are laughing at you they have crossed the line. I'm really happy we have this forum where everyone accepts one another for the person they are, if only the world worked the same way!

I'm 13 and most of my friends don't really criticize my "love" for Celine so I don't really know how it feels like to be in your position. However since YOU are struggling, all I have to say is forget about those who make fun of you. They are not worth your time and you don't have to please them. Let them listen to the music they listen to because they're the ones who are missing out on a bunch of things. Some people out there just don't appreciate beautiful music. Just forget about them, lift your head up high, and be proud to be a Celine fan because it's what makes you. This is your life and don't let them control you just because your taste in music differs from them.

I'm fourteen too and I feel the same way. It's the same thing here. It's always fun and comforting to know that there are other people who are living the same thing. It used to be my friends but know that I changed friends, they don't. It's stupid guys that laugh though. They even embrace it and call the ''petite Céline''. I would most likely say a lot of it is do to jealousy and people have got nothing else to do,Celine and family are the best to me and all her fans like wise and will agree be always be close to our hearts , so ignore what others say there just jealous and most likely bored.

I myself even listen to her every day at work.shes good company my mp3 player.

And then they make sure I know that I'm too old to be a fan and that my music taste sucks (from those who don't like Céline)

 

That's why I never tell people that I'm a fan and VERY few people know I'm travelling to Las Vegas to see her in March.

People who make fun of others should grow up and get a life. In my opinion, if your friend makes fun of you for being a Céline fan they're not your real friend.

I have felt the same way too. That's why when i surf the net, and my friends come along, I don't let them show i'm actually a Celine fan. But my close friends would really know cos i can't help it. I just couldn't really stop myself from telling them i like her.

Don't let it bother you. I happens to everyone, especially when you're a new fan. After awhile, people around you get used to it. I wear my fanaticism on my sleeve. I love Celine and I shout it to the world. It's one of the first things people learn about me when they meet me. It kind of defines you in a way. For me, when people know I'm a Celine fan, in some ways they see me as more grown up, more caring, more generous, compassionate... it's interesting. And you know, it's true too because Celine influences her fans to be better people for sure.

1. Celine was overplayed during the Titanic period and people who don't speak a ward of Englsih knew her so, saying that you are a Celine fan is not something unique for them.

2. Drama, Drama, Drama. Unfortunately, for non-fans, that is what Celine is. The embodiement of drama, although it's not true.

3. People don't care about voices anymore. All what they want is a hot singer. Celine is not hot in the standard of Beyonce or J. Lo.

4. The concept of "LOVE" isn't as popular as before, and since Love is all what Celine sings about, then... duh... u r drama again

I agree with those reasons. It's true that they're the main reasons why people laugh at her. I've heard a whole bunch of disgusting things here all the way to René beats her and she eats her kids! I just figure that it's too bad. They don't know her and that's their loss.

I'm happy for you Nancy that she respects the fact that you love Celine. I think that means that she's a true friend since she accepts you how you are. It's no fun when people see it as a problem and always keep trying tp change you. I know how it is, I've been there but now, I have friends that are extremly patient and understanding.
