E-line Interview on RythmeFM

http://www.rythmefm.com/montreal/audioplayer.php?mp3=147922

Interviewer: - Celine, I really love your album, it's beautiful and I feel you are very emotional. You're closer, as you've said it yourself, to the woman you've become.

Celine: - Well, yes, that's the feeling I have after having done all those interviews today. It's like this album is filled with emotion as always, but this time, the main idea is "intimacy". Being able to sing as softly as I can, for the people who already know me...

- I felt like I was invited to your house, in your living room, and you gave me candy.

- That's exactly what I said in the last interview! It's like an invitation, and the people who know me, they don't need me to sing in every octaves.

- Well, among my favorite songs, there's "Cells qui m'a tout appris" (The one who taught me everything). You get to describe the relationship between a girl and her mother, in such a wonderful way.

- Well, first of all, I won't take credit for it because I didn't write the song. I served the music with my voice the best that I could. I tried to make those words, that I was given, sparkle. It's an amazing song. I've been living a lot with my mother recently. I can see her change and it really moves me because, well, she's 85 and she's beginning to follow the path led by my father, into the light. Her being everyday with my children is a gift that they're not aware of, but I am. I know how precious these moments are, so I take as many pictures and films as I can. I think it's a great privilege.

- Your mother said something extraordinary about you, in a video we saw earlier. She said "Celine made me enjoy life".

- (Celine is confused) My mother... told you that "I" made her enjoy life?... ok that's weird because... she's my idol. I've learned everything from her. That's incredible... I mean, she's so smart, sometimes she comes to me and say "Look, I won't give you any advice, but I'd like to talk about before... no, it's not my place..." But I want her to! I so want to know what she thinks inside.

- It's beautiful. Now the song that keeps playing on Rhytme FM is "Parler à mon père" (Talk to my father). Would you have something to tell him if he was still here?

- Look, it couldn't have been better said than in this song that I was given. Everything happens for a reason, and it's ok. My father is my biggest fan. If he was alive, hearing this song, he'd be in a state of frenzy! My mother would have to keep making him sit down, he'd go to every restaurant, corner store or gas station calming "That's my daughter! And this is my song!" That wouldn't bother him!

- I want to talk about "La mer et l'enfant" (The sea and the child), written by Grand Corps Malade. You say that this songs reflects the atmosphere of the whole album.

- Yes, indeed. What's amazing is that this song has two meanings. The mother (in french "mère") and the sea ("mer"). I thought it was just amazing. I don't know if I can say this, but it's really like it was written by a mother. I don't know if you get what I mean. Fathers are offer more maternal than mothers. I've been pleasantly surprised. I had heard of Grand Corps Malade, his writing couldn't have felt more right. The melody of the accordion in the beginning... (she hums). To me, it's like my father playing a waltz on the sea, outside my home in Florida. I don't see the landscape the same way when my children walk on the beach, leaving traces in the sand, bringing shells home, my mother walking around, my son going fishing. I hear the accordion. My father lives in me. And suddenly everything makes sense...

- There are so many beautiful songs on the album, but I have to talk about "Je n'ai pas besoin d'amour" (I don't need love) written by Jean-Pierre Ferland. He says your singing his song is the greatest gift you could give to him, and it was a gift for you too...

- It's like my mother saying that I make her enjoy life, when she's the one who gave me life actually. First of all, I've been thinking about that since we talked about it, I think what my mother means is that she put all her dreams aside her whole life, to raise us. She didn't have time to live her own life. But now, thanks to the job I've had, and the money I've made, we can travel all together as a family. It's a great privilege and we enjoy it in the best way we can. I think that's what she means.

- Now, about "Je n'ai pas besoin d'amour"...

- Jean-Pierre gave me this song before I had my twins. It was the greatest Christmas gift, I went crazy. Before I even heard the song, I saw the title and I cried. Rene told me "You have to hear it, you're gonna love it!" And eventually I said "I love it! I love it! I love it!" "You are not the love of my life, you are the life of my love". It's amazing. It was a great gift. But there was one problem, he sang the demo himself. I told him: "Don't ever do that again, because you sing so well!" He's so talented, I couldn't possibly do better, and I didn't. But as he had given me the song, I had to do it, so I did the best I could, and in the end it's a wonderful gift.

- A little little little great happiness...

- Wait, wait... (she sings) "A little, little..." Wait, is that it? Are there two or three? Oh, I got it! (she sings) "A little little great happiness, a beautiful gift from life" And then it goes "You are not the love of my life, you are the life of my love, my little little little so great happiness". And then I count, and I tell myself: "Could it be I'm gonna have twins?"

- I just want to end by saying that Victoria Beckham has 3 boys and she's just had a baby girl. Would you like to do the same?

- We don't have any plans for now because we are enjoying our little little little so great happiness. But we never know, it will be a great pleasure to announce it to you if it happens!

- Thank you very much!

- Thank you. It's been nice to be here.

ll, she's 85 and she's beginning to follow the path led by my father, into the light.

I love that. She is aware her mother is aging but at the same time she knows that one time she has to led her mother go and that she will be with her father into the light. So beautifully said. Love this interview:-)

I dont know if this was posted before, but i read this which was interesting on Celinedionitalia:

'D'Elles' vs. 'Sans Attendre'

10th

OCTOBER

At 5 years since the last album of French Celine Dion, 'D'Elles', it seems fair to draw conclusions. The album has received a modest success, even though they had little promotion, benefiting only two TV specials (one for Quebec and one in France).

Nevertheless, 'D'Elles' captured in Canada the number 1 with 72,200 copies sold (including 69,285 in Quebec) in the first week, the largest debut of the year, and won two Platinum Records. In France debuted at # 1 with 55,244 copies, selling about 235,000 copies to date (Platinum Record). Also in Belgium the album debuted at # 1 (15,000 copies and Golden Record). In Switzerland peaked at number 3 and nu-metal over 10,000 copies sold. It is estimated that worldwide, the album has sold a total of just under 1 million copies .

But for this album, while nice, did not get strong support? In a recent interview with La Presse, Valerie Michelin, which is responsible for the artistic production of Celine in France, said:

"Celine has often had in his French album a single author - see Eddy Marnay, Jean-Jacques Goldman to Luc Plamondon. 'D'Elles', however, having been written by different authors, did not get the expected success. The work of 'D'Elles' was quite complicated: Celine worked only with women who wrote novels and books. It is said that anyone who writes a book is necessarily able to write a song. I think the lyrics of 'D'Elles' were too complex for the public, less open, and there was a theme that would be more extensive feedback mechanisms such as those we can find on this new album: Family and Celine, woman, mother and wife. This time we hit the theme and then go in search of singer-songwriters, this is a reverse process. This is a real proprria 'writing tailor-made' and the same Celine wanted to do this album. And 'mainly due to the ideas that gave the authors that this project came to life. "

http://www.celinedionitalia.com/celine-new...endre-6076.html

It seems they are admitting why D'elles didnt sell as well and are trying to say this album should have more sales. I found it interesting anyway dont know if you do too.

It couldn't possibly be due to the lack of promotion or overlooking some of the best songs Celine ever recorded such as: on s'est aimé à cause...

Though released as a third single in Quebec, I don't think

it came out in Europe. It should have been the 2nd single instead Immensité (although I like the song).

- Look, it couldn't have been better said than in this song that I was given. Everything happens for a reason, and it's ok. My father is my biggest fan. If he was alive, hearing this song, he'd be in a state of frenzy! My mother would have to keep making him sit down, he'd go to every restaurant, corner store or gas station claiming "That's my daughter! And this is my song!" That wouldn't bother him!

- I want to talk about "La mer et l'enfant" (The sea and the child), written by Grand Corps Malade. You say that this song reflects the atmosphere of the whole album.

- Yes, indeed. What's amazing is that this song has two meanings. The mother (in french "mère") and the sea ("mer"). I thought it was just amazing. I don't know if I can say this, but it's really like it was written by a mother. I don't know if you get what I mean. Fathers are often more maternal than mothers.

- A little little great happiness...

Thanks very much!!!! That was an interesting interview, and so nice of you to translate all of that for everyone. I'm truly impressed that you did all of that on a cell phone!!

My computer died a couple months ago... Celine's team had better buy me a new one if they want me to keep doing what they don't... I still can't believe they would publish a french interview in the english section with no translation. Maybe they're not paid enough money

I did it in the old fashion way... First I listened to the interview, then I wrote it down in french, correcting all of Celine's bad grammar and syntax, then I translated it. And then I finally typed it on my smartphone. That's why it took so long, but I love doing it so it doesn't matter. I don't like to "sum up" anything, I always want the translation to stick with the original thing as much as possible, but my english is far from perfect. Anyway, I'm glad you like it :)

Zenmeban you are amazing! Typing on a cellphone... I know from experience ;-) - is not easy! You did a great great job translating this wonderful interview with Celine!

When reading this interview and the meaning behind songs, the way she talks about her children, her mother, her father...it is just beautiful. I can only have more respect for Celine.

She is such a great person!

I just wanted to ask whether some1 else noticed that there are two slightly different SANS ATTENDRE covers...

I've just checked jpc.de for the cd and both covers are nearly the same, but the deluxe edition does only have 4 elements

hanging on the branches while on the standard edition, there are five element including a "5 hangar"... Moreover, the books

and the bag are more at the edge of the cover.... quite random, isn't it :P

Your English is "great"!!! I am a loyal Celine fan, but I truly don't think that I could've handled doing all of that. You went over and beyond in my opinion. I'm grateful that you like doing that sort of thing!!! Thanks again!!!

Yeah, Celine's team should put you on their PR team, and provide you with a new computer as soon as possible!

I liked it very much, and I did realize how much you stayed true to the actual interview. I am really impressed!
