I can't get it people resisting to listen to the snippets?

 

For me there's nothing like putting a CD in the player and hearing the songs for the first time. That's just what I prefer. I also understand why people want to hear clips.

That being said it's also tempting to take a quick listen.

I gave a quick listen to all the songs. i must admit that i haven't read all the lyrics due to lack of time but i have to say that NONE of the songs

gave me any will to give another listen or to listen to it more profoundly and surely not to buy the CD.

 

I am one of the biggest francophiles in this forum and I adore Celine's french music but..

 

I said it a million times before and I will say it once more:

 

Jacques Veneruso is the worst thing that coud happen to Celine's french music.

I was glad and hopeful when I saw some new writers I don't know, in the songwriters' list but they are all just terrible.

The songs are saccarine, boring and redundant in a cover of a meaningful song. y (AKA les pieds de Lea)

 

I am also not impressed by the fact that ONCE again, she's using the same schtik of duetting with dead people (Salvador)

or semi dead people (Hallyday)... :fofolle: j/k Ferland

and i am most CERTAINLY not please with the last song that sounds like the french version of "Reveal".

it is way beneath her.

 

I understand that a new musical approach was used her, I can see that and respect it.

 

I just don't like it

BTW, I forgot to add that the only bareable song in this preview list seems to be Moi quand je pleure, both musically and lyrically

The more I listen to the clips, the more in love I'm falling with the album! I just cannot believe how wonderful her voice sounds. She's singing like she really means it and not just like she's singing a phone book. I'm so excited to hear the full songs.

I sometimes had songs I was less satisfied from (again,thanks to monsieur Veneruso) but generally, I loved all her french albums since Incognito

Well like you said, you only gave it a quick listen. I find you cannot judge a whole cd if it's amazing or not by just listening to 30 sec previews.

That's also one of the reasons why I am waiting.

 

 

 

But regardless what any of you think, I am sure that I will love the album no matter what, call it shallow, I call it being a fan

I haven't heard the previews (don't know if I will or I'll just wait untill the release date) but I see most comments here are positive and it makes me glad. I got Adi's point about Veneruso, he's a kind of...mediocre. I miss Goldman, too. But I still have a good feeling about this album.

Up til what I've heard until now: It may not be her most glorious album, but I like the way she's singing a "low tempo". "Une chance qu'on s'a": Can't wait listening to the whole song! Get's me chills ...

When I read that René was claiming this would be her best French album since "D'eux," was skeptical. And while I don't think anything will live up to the brilliance of that album, I can see why René would be making a comparison like that. After listening to the clips a few times, and reading the lyrics (thought I am not fluent in French) I do get the sense that this is a very personal album, written specifically with Céline in mind, much like D'eux.

 

Admittedly, this album does not seem to have quite the same variety of styles that JJG brought to the table, and I'd personally prefer fewer duets with men separated by generations from Céline, but I can see how the songs will grow on me as I listen to them more and more. I think that with a few exceptions, this album is quite lovely lyrically (I was basically in tears just reading through "Celle qui m'a tout appris"). I don't think we will ever see the glory days of JJG and the dynamic team those two made again, but considering the point that her career is at, I think this will be a beautiful album and an overall solid addition to Céline's discography.

I'll still give a try and listen to the whole album once it's will be released but so far those previews don't appeal to me at all.

I listened and I was not very excited, even more so going to buy the album, I found the album different, it's funny that she said in an interview that will have some people who would not like hard she probably predicted this. I think this album will not be sold well.

after listening to those 30 sec clips I have to say that I ablosutely love it and cannot wait for the album to be in stores!! I absolutely love Les jours comme ça and Celle qui m'a tout appris

Rarely do I post but I read every day on the forum. I listened to the clips yesterday afternoon and was not impressed through the first listen. I gave it another go and found a pleasure in what I've heard beyond most music today. The immense simplicity of the music and the depth of the words is something very profound. I'm happy that Celine has shared this with us.
