stone Posted October 4, 2012 at 04:18 PM Posted October 4, 2012 at 04:18 PM I'm just curious why everyone from the States is ordering from Amazon.fr, versus Archambault or a Canadian store. I'm from Boston, so Montreal/ Quebec is only a 6hr drive, but also shipping is wicked fast. Just wanted to know if it's worth ordering from the cd from France versus Canada. Thanks Quote
J-Man Posted October 4, 2012 at 04:20 PM Posted October 4, 2012 at 04:20 PM anyone of you, who have resisted listening to the new songs?I try to... although it is hard! I'm not going to listen either. I rarely listen to anything that was leaked from Celine, but it can be sooooo hard. Worth it though when I put the disc in the music system and crank up the speakers, sitting there with a bottle of wine on that cold winters night in November. Haha that's what I was figuring. I was thinking maybe the French version had the limited what nots/limited special editions and not in Canada. Are we for certainly sure it is not released in the States? CelineDion.com makes it seem like it's an international release no? It's so stupid that we all over the world can listen to the new single, watch the video, but we can't buy it. Quote

Xpresso Posted October 4, 2012 at 10:59 PM Posted October 4, 2012 at 10:59 PM People who don't understand French can't really get the full effect of the lyrics of La mer et l'enfant (even if translated) due to the play on words like "mer/mère". Mer (sea) and Mère (mother) are pronounced the same way so the lyrics go back and forth between the two meanings... Can't be translated with both meanings in English. I think it's impossible not to like this song if you do understand the language. Quote
celine-rc Posted October 4, 2012 at 11:43 PM Posted October 4, 2012 at 11:43 PM Thank you for the lyrics! It's quite different to read them after listening to them! I find it amazing that a man like Grand Corps Malade (who writes so well and is so amazing!) can write something so special like the relation between a mother and her child. Amazing! chocolatechip15 Posted October 5, 2012 at 03:26 AM Posted October 5, 2012 at 03:26 AM I'm wondering something about the song "Je n'ai pas besoin d'amour" . . .in a couple of interviews, Celine has mentioned the line "Tu n'es pas l'amour de ma vie; tu es la vie de mon amour" (You are not the love of my life; you are the life of my love.) -- She seems to love that line. Does anyone know if this song is supposed to be about Rene or her children? At first, I thought it was about Rene, but something they said in the District V video made me think it was about the children "Un petit petit petit grand bonheur" (A little, little, little, big happiness) . .I guess that the three little children bring great happiness? Just wondering what French speakers think, since I don't understand all the lyrics. Thanks! Quote

LukeD Posted October 5, 2012 at 06:27 AM Posted October 5, 2012 at 06:27 AM La mer et l'enfant is so soft, beautiful and poetic. Qui peut vivre sans amour is edgy and dark, too bad we miss the climax of the song. Great songs! I have this feeling Sans Attendre is going to be big, from every standpoint. Quote

Qui peut vivre sans amour is edgy and dark, too bad we miss the climax of the song. Great songs! I have this feeling Sans Attendre is going to be big, from every standpoint. Her way of singing fits the lyrics, there is tension, anger. It must indeed become more and more intense and powerful by the end...
