5 min long interview.

She says the album is soft, and she's not hitting big notes...

It sounds to me, that we'll have a French "Miracle"... :-(

i guess i can kiss goodbye for a song similar to "Tous les blues sont ecrits pour toi" :-/

What? How can she duet with Johnny Hallyday without hitting big notes?

Celine talks about her new album in a radio interview here: http://www.rythmefm.com/montreal/audioplayer.php?mp3=147922

I'm getting so excited for this album, and I think Je N'ai Pas Besoin D'Amour sounds like it's going to be an amazing song (loooove the a capella preview at the end, when she's singing a line and joking with the host about whether she correctly remembered how many "petits" were in the line.)

My French is very not-great . .maybe someone can help me translate what she says about Je N'ai Pas Besoin D'Amour? This is what I've gotten so far (it starts about 6:00 and I've probably gotten some of it wrong):

"I saw the title before I heard the song - and then I cried -- and then I said 'I love it!'and Rene said [something] 'I love it, I love it, I love it!' . . .We started the song in [something] and all the [something . .wanted to say?] 'You are not the love of my life .. . You are the life of my love" . . .This is [something] It's an album of lovers; It's a very beautiful gift; and the biggest problem I had with this song is [something about leaving??] [something; something] It is truly incredible [something] It's an immense gift. [and then they start talking about/singing the song lyrics]

Can anyone help translate that part? I'd love to know what she's saying about that song!! Thank you!!

OH

MY

GOD

This is actually the first time I really enjoy what she says and get where she coming from. This is actually the first time ever she really speaks her mind with pride and modesty at the same time. I think I just fell in love with Celine the woman and not the artist. She expressed every single thing I needed to hear from her. And NOW I'm really looking forward to this album despite the illustrated cover  She really has ALL MY RESPECT.

5 min long interview.

<< ... I don't keep singing because I need it, but because I enjoy it very much. I guess I enjoy it even more now, I love it even more, because I'm filled with something. I have something to say. ... I feel like I would miss out on a lot of things if I didn't enjoy it for myself. Singing songs filled with emotion has been the force that has kept us going on, but this time in a more intimate way. It comes at the right time. I've lost my father, didn't really talk about it since, I talk about my mum who is changing, getting weaker, but she's still the greatest force of nature that I've ever met. ... I don't feel like "belting" about this anyway. I'm not trying to prove that I can sing. Those who love me, who want to hear me, they know I can sing. It's more like an invitation, like a small VIP album, for those who know me. "You know me, I'm inviting you over, do I reeeally have to put make-up on, tonight, for supper?" You know what I mean. That's how I see it. ... If people don't like my album, sure it will be deceiving for all those who put so much energy in the making, but it's not the end of the world. There are many other singers, but there is no other mother for my children. >>

I really wanted to translate (part of) this interview, which is not actually an interview, but more of a confession.

But it's not what she said that moved me the most (she had already said some of this stuff before) but her attitude: the look on her face, the way she looked down when she was getting emotional, the tone of her voice, soft and humble, yet frank and natural (as opposed to many interviews in which she seems to read out loud something that was wwritten before). I really was truly amazed. Thank you very much Celine.  :flowers:

Thank you so much for the translation :flowers: What she said, really touched me. I'm sure this album will be a masterpiece for the true fans, because it apparently show's the intimate side of Celine.

I'm so happy and excited

Thank YOUUU so much for translating. :flowers:

I understood a little, but unfortunately not too much but even though had a similar feeling like you: That it sounded like a confession coming from deep within! I LOVE HER!!! :in_love:

I am very happy that they stuck with the drawing theme, and I love the idea behind the cover. Also so happy that we get a colourful cover for a change. Celine has enough dull black and white covers. This is like a breath of fresh air. We don't always need pictures of Celine. Celine is a singer, not a model or an actress, so all we need is her voice.

One of the best posts in this thread!

I was thinking. If they're smart enough, there will be a second cover inside with a real photograph, like they did in the 1F4T booklet for those who didn't like the short blond hair / band cover. There was another cover inside with a picture of Celine alone with long hair. I hope they thought of doing the same for this one.

I like the album cover-it stands out. And whoever is 'embarrassed to buy it' obviously isn't that much of a fan. Why care what others think, if you are truly passionate about something? Getting excited!!

I can't see why anyone would be embarrassed in such a cover how stupid!

I think it' has great meaning!

<< I worked very very very very hard when I was very young. I sure work a lot less now than I used to. I had to prove myself, and prove to the industry that I could do it, and it was alright. You have to work and to prove yourself. That's how it goes. Some do prove themselves and work hard and it doesn't pay off in the end, so I was very lucky. Well. Today, it's all luxury. We have the luxury of choosing. I have the luxury of being able to slow down from time to time. I have the luxury of making an album just for my pleasure, and not because I have to. Anyway, I don't keep singing because I need it, but because I enjoy it very much. I guess I enjoy it even more now, I love it even more, because I'm filled with something. I have something to say. Before, when I went onstage, I had to learn all my lines by heart: "Good evening everyone, it's a great pleasure to be here tonight, yes... pleasure..." You know, I had to learn. I was 14, 16, 17 and I was so angry, I didn't what to say, didn't know who I was. That's what happens when you're young with no experience. And now, after all those years of experience, I feel like I would miss out on a lot of things if I didn't enjoy it for myself. This album is like talking to my father, my mother or my children. When I sing to my children at night, I don't usually sing my own songs. Sometimes I just make up stupid things, sometimes lullabies, but when I sing them to sleep I don't sing All By Myself, The Power Of Love or Titanic. Unless I want to... (then she says something funny that I don't get  ). But this album, for me, is something sweet, a kind of invitation because I'm not trying to prove that I can sing. Those who love me, who want to hear me, they know I can sing. It's more like an invitation, like a small VIP album, for those who know me. "You know me, I'm inviting you over, do I reeeally have to put make-up on, tonight, for supper?" You know what I mean. That's how I see it. But I was really touched to see that authors, composers had once again written songs especially for me. I'm so thrilled, I realise that the fact that I have been such an open book all my life, has been nothing but positive for me. I've been criticized so many times for this. "You don't have to say this, this is private, and so on..." But I realize now that it really was a good thing. It's ok if you want to keep things to yourself too, but for me it was a choice, and it paid off. People (she says a name like Mike Harrington, don't know who that is) wouldn't even have to make any research about me. They just need to ask if they want to, and I'll tell them everything in a 4 minutes interview. So, people write songs and I couldn't have done better myself, I couldn't even have asked for that much. When they proposed me those, I was moved by their generosity, and the attention they paid to my life. I might still have some plans for the future, but right now I have this album on its way, the english one too, and I have 2 babies at home and the big one who works very hard, I'm so proud of him. So the reason why I'm doing less shows is that I want to be a mother first. If people don't like my album, sure it will be deceiving for all those who put so much energy in the making, but it's not the end of the world. There are many other singers, but there is no other mother for my children. The reason why I spend less time (in show business) is because I want to spend more time with my children. >>

I think these words go to all of you who haven't stopped nagging, complaining, criticizing for the last few years about whatever she does (being her choice) and she does fair enough retorting like this!!

Mego is a producer of the song "Ne me quitte pas". There is another (former) member of Celine's band, his name is Paul Picard with his percussions on "Une chance qu'on s'a" and "Les petits pieds de Lea".
