We shouldn't expect her to sound like in the 90's, it's the effect of aging, but we must be grateful that she didn't loose her voice like Mariah or Whitney!!!!! I agree, it was blah. Celine's part is exciting! I know Celine can hit the notes for the most part, but I think that's what keeps me on edge, all the pressure on her....wohoo!

I hardly ever post anything. I like being a member because I am a huge fan of Celine's. But it just makes me so sad when I come on here because it seems like there are more Celine haters on here than fans. I'm always reading so many negative things people post: "she's no good anymore" or "her voice is not strong" or whatever. I agree with Streep101- she may not sing with the control and clarity that she had when she was 25 but that's to be expected. We all want her to to not feel so constrained by it all and to have a bit of fun- the very reason she is belting the notes is because that's what they want from her. Imagine she stood up and whispered a la Miracle. I hated that crap voice she used on that album (apart from on ISSW) - it made me irate. Celine was asked to do this crucial part of the song because her voice is renowned- and she still sings better than any other 'Pop' singer. Her voice is why I love her, still, more than ever. She can't sing Think Twice like she did on the WMAs away back then, but she is phenomenal, beautiful, classy and has a confidence that makes this song special. She was the only one who said anything meaningful and honest about why they were recording this song. I am proud of her and lap up that power, those inflections and all her style in singing. I agree. I know everyone is entitled to their opinion but, we haven't even heard the final cut, lets wait until we hear the song, I'm sure it'll be amazing (and same goes for the Oprah performance), I'm happy with what I've heard though, and also it has been said that Lionel Richie wanted her to rough up her vocals so that's probably why it sounds so different, I liked it, it goes with the song

Mmhhh. People have to understand that Celine isn't that good anymore. They shouldn't have given her that part.

There was a time where she could be considered as the best voice ever : it was so pure, crispy, powerful and controlled. She sounded so great with the Franklin, Destiny's Child, Patrick Bruel, JJG, Bruno Pelletier, Carol Frederics and so many more.

Now it just ain't the case, it's raspy, strained, hoarse and shouts, strains to hit high notes. And I hate it when she thinks that the hoarseness gives more emotion to her voice.

Sorry. Her voice is way better than Cyndi Lauper no matter when.

 

I don't agree Cyndi has an awesome voice and she's more than 10 years older than Celine. Their voices and singing styles are very different. Celine is my absolute fav but Cyndi is awesome, her lives shows are amazing and every note is LIVE. She's a very underrated singer, so if you've never seen her live you wouldn't know.

FINALLY! someone speaks my feelings...I didnt want to speak my feelings because I didnt know how to put them into words. I was SHOCKED to see people mad about her returning to her coliseum to do another run. APALLED at people bashing her for WATW and just angry at so many people that you guys made me kinda depressed. We're supposed to be screaming our heads off in excitement right now ALL OF THIS PROMOTION is AWESOME. I mean c'mon people. Streep101 is totally feeling what I'm feeling word for word...NO ONE can sing that part other than CELINE. And she's not "screaming" her part, those are called high notes loves. I'm happy and excited for WHATEVER SHE DOES, and I'm over the moon right now when it comes to all the news and updates. SHE'S RETURNING TO VEGAS!!!! ISNT THAT WHAT YOU ALL WANTED ONLY A YEAR OR SO AGO???!!! This is a dream come true, I'll be able to get my chance to see her in Vegas, and have an amazing DVD to go along with it. THE QUEEN IS GAINING RANK and you people are made?? that is some bullshit.

I understand what everyone is saying, that Celine's voice isn't what it was 15 years ago, but she's had a year off since her tour (where she was great) and now this sounds awful. Did she not warm up her voice? We all know that Celine is capable of doing far more with her voice!
