I really hate some posts over analysing on every bit of tiny details. It makes the fun of reading a topic dies very fast. It's becoming more and more often on the forum lately.

when she playbacks some notes or whole songs it isnt good,

and when she sings it live and it doesnt sound like how you want it to be, it's not good to!!

i rather have a live version, with no money notes and a polished voice but with much more emotion in it ;-) and if then she hits the notes and sounds flawless I like it even more ;-)

Just watched the clips I love her doing The Show Must Go On, my friends say: she's crazy with her airguitar haha

i'm so curious about the whole documentary!! and i cannot wait to have the show on dvd, it looks soooooo goood :D hoping for a blu-ray release :whistling:

So the part where she goes to the doctor and they put a camera down her throat... do you guys think they will actually make her sing scales and all that and show her vocal chords at work in the movie? I wanna see how her vocal chords work! That would be interesting...

Omg I lurv vv vveee this version of ''SMGO'' it seems alot more polished and she seems more at ease singing it here compared to when she sang it here in London... don't get me wrong it was sooo good, but this is just perfection from the clip I've heard, amazing!...

And the clip of Dublin during PQTME, you can see Rene's shadow standing in the tent to the right of the person with the sign..... and under the sign you can just about see Nick's shadow, lol, as I was just to their right, and seen them arrive and leave.

I can't wait to finally see this, can you believe we finally have less than a month to see this!!!

What happened is that the Note is LIVE. She probablly sang it live when they taped the show in Montreal so it wouldn't be the same in Boston. You can see by her face that it is live. And even if the of the note is not perfect I love to see that she can still hit it 12 years later.
I totally agree with you!!! The Note is indeed 100% LIVE!!!! I think it sounds amazing too!

Why? As long as there is no blood and needles involved and it is not my throat, I will be fine. I've always wondered how her vocal chords work.

I just mean I would want to see everything again and again, like if I miss a small part on the screen like:

1: can't see what's on the table

2: what did she say?

3: what is she wearing?

4: who is standing behind her..

things like that

Ah ok! I wondered why you would want them to rewind it if it freaks you out... I know what you mean. I am going to camp out in the theater the whole time this movie is showing.

That ABM bit is obviously the true live note she sang in that show where she met Ali and was sick- it's to makes it less perfect etc- I'm glad!

i am watching now the show!!! Does anyone of you understand what did they say regarding m. Kent Nagano??? Why did they refer Maria Callas????

I translated few bits and pieces, and it's in the first pages. It's worth having a look before asking questions

But, because I'm in good spirits (as I should be after a Celine's interview), they met Kent Nagano and would love to work with him. They met in Germany. They are still talking, nothing's planned. Maybe a film about Callas? Nagano is convinced Celine's the rifght person to sing Callas' songs.

Edit: Still looks uncomforable. You can see when they are done and she wipes her mouth she is not even paying attention to what they are saying. She has that yeah whatever I'm just glad it is done now please take me home look that you get whenever you go to the doctor/dentist.

:chair: For crying out loud! ABM was lipped EVERY night, including the night she was ill - why would they make her sing it live the night she was sick? That makes no sense at all. The reason why everyone thinks it was live is becuase the TV clip shown from Phoenix just has the raw audio from her mic and the playback, without the usual echo you would get in concert videos. If you listen carefully you'll find the crack in her voice in the playback is always there. So really it sounded worse than it actaully was - compare it to a bootleg video from the same night!

The doctors like to do it through the nose. They just put some anasthetic cream or something like that into your nose instead spraying anasthetic spray into your throat (disgusting!) and when the camera is in your nose, you can't feel a thing, and can swallow, and have your mouth closed, instead of having it open all the time.

The only disgusting thing aobu tthe anasthetic cream is when it runs down in your throat, it doesn't taste very good :sick: but not unfomfortable

I've worked out what they've done with the ABM high note. Many people have noticed in YouTube videos how there seems to be 2 voices singing 'any'. Well look at how Celine sings that bit in this video, almost the same as the playback. During this 'any' part, Celine's mic will be turned down, allowing just the playback to be heard. Celine, knowing the playback has started, still has to sing under her playbacks so her vocal chords are moving, but obviously she can be quieter as it's difficult to belt out that note at full volume like the playback does. Coincidentally, the 'more' part on the video is noticably quieter than the 'any', showing that this was what Celine was actually singing under the playback. I've changed my opinion of this note now, the only bit that sounds dodgy is the very end, where I think she must have ran out of breath.

I don't think she would have put this much effort into a playback note every night. They must have told her to try and do the note as well as she could when they were filming the DVD, knowing that even if she messed up it wouldn't matter as the playback would still be running. This is proved by her facial expressions in the video, much more authentic that the usual performances.

Based on this theory, I believe that the 'new' MHWGO is taken from her microphone aswell, so it really is a live performance we are hearing. Again I don't think she would normally put this much effort into lipping, but she does have to sing ALL her songs every night regardless in case of playback failure, especially in the cases when she didn't even realise (ie IDAN Vienna).

So it will be interesting to see if they've done the same with TPOL. I can't imagine that sounding perfect live. I doubt they would make her sing live under the playback for every lipped songs on one night for this DVD, they probably spread it out over several concerts so she doesn't strain her voice for the other songs.

Sorry for the long explanation but I believe this is how they've done it. In my opinion this is a fantastic move, as it means we are getting 100% live performances on the DVD, even if the audiences didn't hear them!

Never thought of it this way before but I think your absolutely right. Well done. She was singing along with the track but they turned her input from the mic to the speakers down but recorded it normally.

Except for the first show in Johannesburg, which was 100% live.

The doctors like to do it through the nose. Can I just point out that the ABM performance shown on this TC interview is completely different to the one in phoenix (where she was ill). So Celine was either sick before another show too or she wasn't sick and this was just her missing that end note from a different show. Hope you get what I mean. So we need to figure out where this performance is from.

Come on, that ABM video was shown on the purpose of showing a concert when Céline was sick, that not every day was perfect, easy and happy in her work :wink: . Mohamed Ali went to that concert and she barely could force her voice to talk nor to sing!

It's sometimes incomprehensible why some people break their heads with the lipping/playback topic constantly :doh:

She wasn't sick in the new video, she just struggled with the note towards the end, which is understandable considering she had to belt it live and hold it. I think it will be incredibly hard to tell which concert it was from, as the only thing you can go by is her facial expressions and hand movements. And that's assuming the audio and video are from the same night. Anyway, she probably ran out of breath when singing live, but kept her mouth open in order to finish the playback note, so it's virtually impossible to date the performance... :confused:

Can I just point out to some of you that Celine was struggling with a respiratory and a sinus infection for almost two months at one stage during the tour, so there is no way of knowing whether or not it is from Phoenix. Didn't Remona say that Celine was sick when she saw her in Winnipeg? In the tourbook, there are pictures of Celine's doctor examening her on the plane after the Nashville show.
