"Barbra Streisand is coming with an album full of duets'

 

Updated: May 14, 2012 24:02 info. NEW YORK - Barbra Streisand has been approached to make an album full of duets with young and hip artists like Rihanna and Adele.

 

The idea is that this way the 70-year-old singer can appeal a more youthful audience .

 

The 85-year-old singer Tony Bennett did something similar with the album Duets II, which he released last year.

Among that were songs with Lady Gaga and the now deceased Amy Winehouse.

 

Barbra Streisand recently extended her contract with Sony Music for $ 30 million. She is currently also working on a film called The Guilt Trip.

 

 

I dunno if this will work for her... It would be cool to hear her sing 'hip' music though

Supposedly this is one gigantic rumor that has very little truth (other than the fact that she's been asked by Tony Bennett again). I would prefer a solo studio album as opposed to overhyped duets.

Or there will also be Blu-rays but they prefer to mention the DVDs as the higher number of discs makes bigger imact?...

If I would have admit to regret something in my life, not seeing Barbra when she performed in Berlin in 2007 would be quite on the top of the list... :(

 

The tickets were insanely expansive, the cheapest ones were like 300€... I didn't felt like spending that much money on on concert ticket...

 

Well, I wish I wouldn't have thought twice and simply bought that damn ticket...

Especially after seeing Céline shows' prices a year later... Cologne and Paris shows were one of the most expensive of those I went to, actually also approx. 300€ per ticket...

Guess all that came from my lack of experience concerning ticket prices... I moved to Germany only in 2005 and until early 2007 I haven't been visiting any concerts as my daughter was a baby and I devoted all my time to her.

And before moving to Germany I lived in Poland and back than we hardly got world superstars to visit our country and I never went to any of such concerts due to lack of money - hey, I was a poor student, hehe...

 

So yeah, I missed one of the unique chances to see Barbra... But I don't give up the hope that I'll get one more chance.

If there were more room for me to plan a trip, I could even consider that Brooklyn show...

May I ask how much the Brooklyn show tickets were??

The better seats are $750

Then there are $350 and $150 tickets

I always prefer the best seats possible but in this case I would be happy even with the cheapest ticket - just to be in one room with the Living Legend and to listen to her fully live show, awww!!!

Dying just thinking of it, haha!

I'm going to guess that we probably won't see another tour. Sad, I know. But that's just my feeling.

Tha's also what I'm afraid of...

Leonard Cohen is still (or again) touring the world despite his age and I'm so happy about it 'cause it gaves me the chance to see him live for the second time soon!

But I can imagine Barbra not really having interest in touring, especially given her stage fright (or whatever is it called in English),,,

 

If I would know about the Brooklyn shows more in advance, I could even consider travelling there to see her - after all I went all the way to Vegas so why not traveling similairly far for Barbra?

But my Vegas tour I was able to plan a year in advance...

 

Guess that's what happens to those who are not in all kind of forums, news groups etc., lol...

 

I'm lucky that a year ago I was invited to some very informative Tori Amos groups on Facebook so finally I'm not missing on her tours like I used to do before...

 

Maybe I have to look for such groups for Barbra - it's still not too late for that!

I prefer FB groups because you get the news directly to your mailbox from there, you don't have to roam through forums etc. which is a big plus in my situation!

Do you know any such groups?

 

Although I just remembered that you're not on Facebook at all... lol...

She crafts her albums so well, you can bet she left no stone unturned in finding the right songs to fit, my fave on it is last years track ...If its meant to be...what an awesome song one of the Bergmans best in recent years..love it.

From the 60's

The Third Barbra Streisand Album...classic songs the Streisand way ....pure heaven

Simply Streisand......sublime lush orchestrations great songs and what a voice!

On a clear day Soundtrack.....underrated but i love it.

From the 70's

Stoney End ...her first Pop album great songs

Songbird...has "one more night" a great song and also Barbra's solo version of "you dont bring me flowers" amazing performance

Wet...babs goes DISCO ish has Niagra on there...fab ballad

Superman......"love comes from unexpected places" fab song

Actually any of her 70's stuff she was on knockout vocal form they are all well worth investing in and there are gems on all albums...explore and give ur ears a treat.

From the 80's

Guilty.......Barry Gibb produced and from start to finish it has her best vocals and it is her best pop album. ESSENTIAL

The Broadway Album.....timeless peerless flawless."Being Alive" OMG!

The 90's

Back to Broadway...."moving on" is my fave off this one.

The Concert 1994 get the dvd its fab!

The 00's

Christmas memories...her 2nd holiday album.The 60's one is good too if u dig holiday tunes.

Guilty Two......follow up some nice relaxed vocals and again more pop sound...and some disco "night of my life"

Love is the answer ...the Diana Krall produced Album easy mellow...i love "where do you start" amazing

The 10's

What Matters Most.......the Bergman Songs cd ...lovely songs ..."I'll never say goodbye" awesome

Release Me ..... "If its meant to be" is stunning".......i am stunned!

 

I do hope you explore and enjoy Barbra's back catalogue, these are only some of my faves, everyone will have their own. You will hear the voice of a woman in her 20's to 69 years of age yes she sounds different through the years and the belt may now be diminished but Barbra always said of herself she was "an actress who sings" and my God does she ever put her all into her songs. She performs them as stories and takes you on a heavenly journey.........i cant wait to play them all again and see where she takes me!
