I still don't get the big deal with it being in french vs english? They're pictures, it's not that difficult to figure out what the small sidenotes say... it's not like there are whole stories written in there

 

 

Exactly! There's not that much French. There is an opening intro from CD and then the country names and some stadium info and only a few comments here and there. I typed it all into an online translator, copied and pasted it into a word processor with the corresponding page number, put that in order, printed it out and stuck it in the back of my dust jacket in the book so if I want to remember what it says, i can look it up. Until next year when I finally learn French, then maybe I can understand without it!

 

 

The thing is, why should we have to do that? I t was an english flipping tour for goodness sake! It is pathetic that we should have to do that when we have been promised an english version, to me it would have made sence to put it out in english first as it is an english tour! The only thing i can think of is, are they thinking of putting it out into book stores around the world in english at the time the DVD and maybe CD comes out, to give it some extra support as celine isnt there to promopte any of it.

 

P.S i think its great what you did with your book arent having ago at you i just think its unfair.

It was actually a world tour though, they had a French setlist, French tourbook, French introduction video...it wasn't just for the English market. And it's Gerard's book, it's not a Sony release. And since he's a French photographer it's perfectly logical he would release it in French first.

 

Just be patient, we know it's coming!

Talking about captions and sidenotes: I love the caption of that photo of Celine in Boston with the nebulizer mask on her face that says even with that strange thing on her face she is beautiful and glamorous. That is so sweet!

 

It really looks like she was struggling with her asthma at one point. There are a lot of pics where she uses that nebulizer thingy.

I agree totally it seems like every time I try and translate something from french to english the translation is never right and I want to know exactly what it says. I don't want to guess or have a half wrong translation. I read and speak english so I want an english book that I can read. I just want a release date I mean Japan, Canada and France already have it. Why won't they give a date for such a huge selling market such as the USA?

She changed the english setlist round for french fans in france and canada which is obviously the way it should be ofcourse, thats not an issue....

 

So why not have this book released in english @ the same time as the french one, for the fans who speak english and who also attended the tour, is the point many english speaking fans are making and rightly sooo.... its only a few captions to translate for crying out loud!!

 

My point is, its only fair right that both her english and french speaking fans should be equally catered for...

I dont want to have to guess what the correct translation should be, and nor should I have to.... so I am waiting for the english version and it better be available before xmas.

 

If I worked for Celine/Rene things would be very different I tell you.... lol

Totally agree with both of you, especially when you say ACDS 2! Its nothing against the french speaking fans but they seem to get a hell of alot more than us english fans. I mean there is au cour du stade, sur le plains, then another version live a quebec, now the book. Even when we get a english DVD A new Day, they get their own version in french!! Whilst all the french DVD's cant even have english subtitles!! I mean look at Delles collectors edition, its amazing! I love it, it has so much detail and is wonderful, and then look at the taking chances special edition. That speaks for itself! Im not saying anything about the french speakign fans cus its not ur fault,but can you see where some of us maybe coming from.

wOW bravo Lindsey for doing all that!!! You see people when you really want something nothing can stop you big thumbs up!! that's the example of actually solving a problem instead of just living your life complaining about it.

 

Imagine all the people that don't even speak English OR French in the world...if I waited until every single thing was translated to Spanish I would have never even read one single book about Celine.

I'm slightly confused, forgive me for being so confused but its late, I'm exhausted and slightly out of it, are you saying its not a big deal to get the french book and translate the captions, but that you don't want to? Or are you saying its not a big deal for the book to be translated in english because they are just a few captions and such that it should have been released in english at the sametime they released the french book? I agree with you, in that I don't think I should have to translate or guess what something says. Which is why I'm waiting for the english book.

Kev I couldn't agree more, the french speaking fans get tons more than the english speaking fans and they in my opinion had a much better dvd of AND. It had so much more behind the scene's footage of her at home with RC that we never see on the US dvd. I wish I could get the Sur Les Plaines dvd and I wish it had english subs but it doesn't and I really want that dvd because the songs from the concert are amazing but I don't have a clue what Celine is saying, or singing for that matter. Though I do love the french songs despite not understanding them. I would buy it in a heartbeat if it had english subs though. I did get Au Cour Du Stade as a gift, my friend bought it after I drooled over it for years at FYE music and despite not having english subs I did enjoy the english songs on the dvd though I don't have a clue what Celine says during the french speaking parts or songs.

This might change as it is not a 100 % sure yet, but you had better not be expecting it for Christmas...

Thanks fanny, dont you think that it is strange to bring it out in english last tho? it does to me, because im sure it would sell best around christmas time plus celine has a great, massive english fanbase. Maybe Gerard thinks its going to be his biggest challange, so he is going to do it after it comes out everywhere else, i dont know i dont get it lol

About that, I just wanted to say that if french speaking fans have been"privileged" now for the book, in a few months other fans will be... I can't tell you more, except that these fans are located on the american continent.

I finally received the book yesterday!!!!!! It's simply gorgeous and I can't stop admiring all those stunningly amazing photos.

I can even see myself clearly on page 214 in the bend. I'm wearing white cap in it.

 

Great to "have" a picture with Celine!!!!!!!!!

i thought it was only able to purchase from Canada and France but i searched on the UK amazon and it came up (even though in french)...is this the right one yeah?

Well, if it is called "Céline autour du monde" by Gérard Schachmes, if it has the right cover and if it is in french... then there is a veeeery strong chance that it is the right one.

 

You should be able to purchase from anywhere actually... but in french for now.

The english version of the book will be available in January.

 

Gérard is currently in Belgium where he is promoting his book in different media (tv, radio, press...). Right now he is on RTL radio which you can listen to here http://www.belrtl.be/ (in french of course).

 

This whole promotion was organized by the Red Heads, we are very proud!

 

Oh, and here is a little story that you might like... yesterday was Gérard's birthday. Before he left for Brussels, he received a HUUUUGE bunch of flowers (like 1m50 high), so he was like "who sent me these flowers???" he opened the card, "From Céline, René and René-Charles, happy birthday!"

 

How sweet is that. I can't even imagine how many flowers they must send each year if they send some to everybody they know! Hehe.
