Hey Guys,

 

I'm watching the Juno nominations live on CTV here in Canada and Celine Dion received two nominations:

 

Single of the Year: "Taking Chances"

That's because "Taking Chances" the ALBUM was nominated in 2008. Not the single. The Junos are warped, so don't even bother asking. lol.

A New Day...Live in Las Vegas really deserves to win. This seems Celine's best shot at winning a Juno in years.

The Awards will be held at the end of March 2009.

After winning this award Celine should release Taking Chances Tour DVD :P

I have high hopes for the Vegas DVD. It broke almost every record of music DVD sales and sold 100,000 copies in Canada alone during the first week, if I remember correctly. I believe I read somewhere that there were several major distributors that went out of stock because it was so highly anticipated and so very very POPULAR. :D

 

So, I'm going to cross my fingers on that one. The other two, if she wins then THE MORE THE MERRIER! :D If not, I think the Vegas DVD is a tough one to top. :yes:

If the Juno's don't give her the DVD Award they're idiots! By and Far....they haven't given her a Juno in a decade! and she's the only Canadian artist to draw the most amount of people to her concerts in Canada this year!!!!!!!

Céline made history on January 18, 2008 as Live in Las Vegas - A New Day... became the only music DVD to be certified triple diamond status in Canada, for over 300,000 units sold (although Le Journal de Montréal reported two days earlier that the DVD has sold more than 400,000 copies).

 

Outside Canada, the DVD peaked at number 1 in the United States, United Kingdom, France, Japan (international chart), Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, New Zealand and Estonia. It reached number 2 in Portugal and Sweden, number 3 in Argentina, Australia, Ireland and Greece, number 4 in Austria, number 6 in Italy and number 7 in Czech Republic. Live in Las Vegas - A New Day... also debuted in the top 10 for DVD sales in Finland and Germany.[10]

 

Close to 500,000 copies of the DVD have been sold worldwide in the first week.[10] Live in Las Vegas - A New Day... was certified 3× diamond (300,000) in Canada[11] (over 400,000 copies sold according to Le Journal de Montréal), diamond in France (150,000 copies have been sold), 3x platinum in Australia (45,000), platinum in Argentina (6,000) and New Zealand (5,000), and gold in the Netherlands (30,000), Belgium (15,000) and Portugal (4,000). In Japan, it has sold 30,000 copies during first three months. As of Billboard issue dated January 24, 2009 the DVD has sold 363,640 copies in the U.S. and is certified 6x platinum (it is now eligible for 7x platinum).[12] According to Billboard, Live in Las Vegas - A New Day... was the the second best selling music DVD of 2008 in the U.S. and the best selling by a female artist.[13]

 

Belgian magazine Cine Tele Revue from May 2008 wrote that the DVD has sold 3 million copies to date, which makes it one of the best selling DVDs in music history.

YAHOO for our girl!!!! It's great to hear that she's nominated for 3 awards - and I really, REALLY HOPE she'll win for Music DVD of the Year!!

I'm also really excited that the Juno Awards will be presented here in my hometown of Vancouver!!!

So far there are only 3 or 4 musical acts set to perform, and I hope they'll ask Celine to perform!!! ;)

 

Tickets go on sale this Saturday, and I'm going to see if I can attend!!

If not - I'll be working that night at the arena & can sneak around backstage. Haha! ;)

But I would really rather go sit down to watch, than to work.
