Lou555 Posted November 19, 2008 at 01:14 AM Posted November 19, 2008 at 01:14 AM No sure about Vegas. I would like a new show, not AND IIPretty excited about new albums and Ginette Reno movie! You can be excited about Ginette's movie JP(if it sees the day, that remain to be seen) but Céline surely won't be in it. Absolutely impossible IMO! It's not being negative but let's be realistic here, that all about Ginette's dreams, not a reality. René is already aware of that project I know and Denise Robert who is the producer whom René put responsible for Céline's movie projects too I think. I think they both like Ginette...but as a singer, not a movie writer or for any of those dreams(farfelus).I think it's plausible though that they'll do something together in the future... I really think they will, maybe a song or something like that... but Céline in a Ginette movie ? That won't ever happen JP my friend. Foolish thinking on Ginette's part but dreaming she can of course, why not... As you know Ginette is a dreamer(grande parleuse, petite faiseuse aussi...mais Ginette, c'est Ginette! ) and regardless we love her like she is. Believing as a fact what she says though, it's another thing you must know that. Quote
Chellbie Posted November 19, 2008 at 01:17 AM Posted November 19, 2008 at 01:17 AM WELL, I am undecided about the whole Vegas thing.. Personally, I know its her home.. I know one of many, but its the one RC grew up in, and lived for most of his life... I bet she would love to be stable there and thats probably come up in conversation. But I also remember hearing her say in an interview that after the tour she wants to move into her new FL home. I want her to stop and have another baby. Because if she doesnt do it now, she might get half way into another project and wish she had. I am THRILLED about this news and the new English album! WoW! This is such good news to keep me going through the Celine hiatus we will all have to endure. I know Celine would LOVE to do some acting, so I would almost be POSITIVE that will be a yes- that is as long as its all positive for the career. Vegas.. eh.. whatever, I will always support her no matter what happens or what they chose to do. However, I am very glad that the future does hold something promising.. we aren't losing her yet to retirement! THANK GOD! =) Quote Thankful for these moments with Celine...Friday, July 23rd, 2005 - Las Vegas NVTuesday, January 13th, 2009- Nashville TNSaturday, January 17th, 2009 - Atlanta GATuesday, January 20th, 2009 - Raleigh NCFriday, January 23rd,2009 - Miami FLTuesday, February 24th,2009 - Denver COThursday, February 26th,2009 - Omaha NEWednesday, February 3rd, 2010 - Chicago, ILhttp://i42.tinypic.com/293k31j.jpg
Lou555 Posted November 19, 2008 at 01:38 AM Posted November 19, 2008 at 01:38 AM Which songs did that guy compose for Celine? Sorry, I just don't know.I don't think he has composed any for her, but she sang some of his songs liveMa chambre http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PzsTl5AdS8ETon visage Une chance qu'on s'a http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3FMa6WRh8kM "Ton visage" is a song that was a hit for JP himself that Céline loved so much she wanted to perform it in the 80's and she did(very well I might add) . "Une chance qu'on s'a" is a René and Céline's song as a couple(like for many couple here in Québec). That was an expression they used toward each other already so the song was very special when they heard it, they both cried(JP recalled Céline telling him that in an interview I saw with JP). Céline always loved JP's songs, he's a legend and a monument in Québec, she's not the only one I can assure you. "Ma chambre" though is another story, it was a song especially and explicitly compose for Céline. Ferland gave it to Céline when her french album (Incognito) was mostly done and because of a bad timing and they wanted that one to be a drastic change of style for Céline, that song (Ma chambre) didn't fit the album and decided not to put it on there. Nevertheless, it came out at one point on radio and it was a very big hit for Céline in Québec at the time. It's a early classic favorite of Céline's french repertoire here. That's why she perform it on an ADISQ Gala ten years ago for JP and much to her fans pleasure and great satisfaction. JP said in a recent interview that he was writing french songs for Céline and that he had already come up with an english one too. I don't know when Céline will put out those JP's song. I wouldn't expect myself it will be soon but she'll record some Jean-Pierre Ferland's songs in the upcoming years, no doubt in my mind. They guy is a wonderful composer and songwriter and it is a privilege for any singer to be given a song by him. I know Céline (and René) feel that way, they adore the guy, he's unique. Quote
Xpresso Posted November 19, 2008 at 01:46 AM Posted November 19, 2008 at 01:46 AM René had already said that if Céline goes back to Vegas, it wouldn't be for a long engagement as the last time. Probably more like Elton John is doing... A few weeks here and there. Or months... That would give Céline a lot of time to do other fun things while earning "pocket change" in LV. I would really like if she did some kind of Cabaret songs. With little effects. Just guitar, piano, very raw. Not what Vegas would expect... Quote
Lou555 Posted November 19, 2008 at 01:56 AM Posted November 19, 2008 at 01:56 AM They're translating Claude's songs for the next album but not any of her French songs? Interesting. It's not excluded for more of her own french song(we never know), she already did it in the past with "Je sais pas"(I don't know), "Pour que tu m'aimes encore"(If that's what it takes) and "Vole"(Fly) plus Let your heart decide....etc.. But for now it's been said(by Claude himself) that they were looking at Claude's repertoire to see which one Céline would want to do as an english version for an upcoming album. Céline has wanted to that with some of Claude's songs for years. Claude wouldn't do english version of his song in Québec he said but he would be honoured that Céline did it he said. Those Claude songs I adore(lyrics and music) both are very inspiring and unique. Can't wait! Great idea, it would give substance(about lyrics) wishing they find someone who can do it right in english and translate in a way they keep the essence of the poetry . Quote

Andy Man Posted November 19, 2008 at 02:21 AM Posted November 19, 2008 at 02:21 AM (edited) I'm feeling kind of mixed about all this news. As a fan, I think it's great that we have so much to look forward to. It's always great to look forward to a new Celine album and from that respect the speculation of new french and english projects is great. However I have to admit, that I thought after this tour we would kind of have a little Celine break. Most importantly for her - I mean when you think about it, she's been going non-stop since A New Day Has Come came out in 2002. Since then we of course had Vegas, a TON of releases and the TC tour. Again, as a fan I've been thankful for it all. I mean really, compared to most artists Celine's fans have nothing to complain about in terms of how much we 'get'. Since 2002 we've had A New Day Has Come, One Heart, 1 Fille & 4 Types, A New Day...Live In Las Vegas, Miracle (a project I could have done without haha), On Ne Change Pas (many versions), D'elles, Taking Chances, A New Day DVD, My Love Essential Collection...so ya, we've been given a lot. And although these releases have had varying success, none have given Celine the attention that she once had in the media/public eye. Obviously Celine dosen't care about that and really we shouldn't either. I mean it would be great if Celine could have another #1 single...but really, I just love the fact that we get so many releases. However, at this point I think what would be best is to take some time of with NOTHING released...at least 2 years. This would give Celine a much, much needed break and for the rest of us a time to miss her. I honestly wouldn't mind seeing a good 2 years go by with no release and little Celine news so that come 2011 (or at the earliest the later part of 2010) we'd be excited to have Celine back. Also, it would give her some time to really concentrate on producing great new albums in english and french. I've always felt that her French releases have a lot of thought behind them however her last few english albums (One Heart, Taking Chances) have had some great songs but overall feel rushed. Anyway, that's my rant for now haha. I just feel that although this news is great we've been given sooo much from the Celine camp over the last little while that it might be best for her career and legacy to take some time off without releasing anything and come back with an awesome album that makes us go WOW again... I agree and I think Céline and René feel exactly the same way. Céline needs and wants to take a break. Eventhough she's happy to do shows for her fans on this tour, I'm pretty sure she can't wait to stop and rest for a long while. But in the wonderful world of music and showbusiness you have to plan in advance and have things done when you're ready to do them. I really don't think those projects are for the short term, especially if our Céline gets pregnant as they would like her to be. She'll take a long break(at least two years IMO). But in this wonderful world of music you can't be silent for too long either...I have no doubt René has many options open and available just in case That's his job to that! Quote

If Celine and Rene are able to have another child no doubt will there be a longer break. But my thinking is that if you look at an artist like Shania Twain...her last studio release was in 2002 with Up!...she has a new album out next year and there is a sense of interest that comes with it because the world hasn't heard from her in a while. No, I'm not suggesting Celine should take 6-7 years off with no new music but I think two years off with no new releases would be in her best interest because then she has the chance to really come back with somthing that can get people to start talking again. Anything sooner than that would seem just like a continuation of the long line of releases we've had since A New Day Has Come. Hopefully Rene sees that artistaclly it is way better to wait and put out somthing exciting rather than more quickly made albums...But most importantly I just hope Celine can take a breather after the amount of work she has done over the last little while.
