Excellent, new French album

Ferland songs are so *dramatique* Give me some of those French torch ballads It could be all Dion-Marnay minus the child(ish) part since she's a grown up now. Didn't she sing "Le Petit Roi" on some old TV show? I remember seeing a snippet of that somewhere. If someone has the full thing, post it plz

and I'm still hoping for part 3 of the Dion-Goldman trilogy. She needs someone like him to point her in the right direction again.

The French album sounds exciting, but her next English album better have the amazing rock influences of Taking Chances. I'll be incredibly dissapointed if she does a ballad album. The film script from Ginette sounds like an amazing opportunity, but the Vegas idea is horrible. Celine, if you really wanna do a show, go to New York City. You don't have to worry about Vegas throat there, you can put on as huge a show as you want(though a personal, unplugged show is preferable), and you can have stability. Just no more Vegas. But if she does Vegas, it better not be as long as A New Day was. Doing it for 5 years was a mistake.

and taking chances in my personal humble opinion may be "rockier" than her past albums but there isn't much rock there I'm afraid :S if ur gonna take chances, why so timid? i'd prefer she stick back to pop and dramatic ballads rather than taking chances. dissapointing. why even record fade away if ur not gonna take advantage of it >_<

 

also as each year progresses she becomes less guarded about her accent gahhh that doesn't work when ur trying to sound cool and edgy with rock

I think it's clear from the news tid bits we got that the focus will be the French album but as the next English album will be released in already let's say 1,5 year then it's reasonable to wonder who will collaborate with her and what she won't sing.

 

For her next English album I don't think she will ever abandon her edgy route. And Phi if you please don't talk such bananas - Taking Chances was in no way Taking Chances per se as the album itself hasn'T been even meant to be named "Taking Chances" but "That's Just The Woman In Me" which say it all. Just another Céline album where she nicely EMPHASIZED her French-Canadian rocky musical roots to be found in abundance all over her French albums.

 

For the French album it may be a little jazzy but I am not holding my breath for it. She sounds absolutely stunning while playing with her voice especially in her own native language so nothing would keep her from recording a jazzy French album... except the fact that it's actually a profitable market sill and Sony wouldn't sure like such a departure from her traditional Euro-Pop-Rock-Style that she and JJG always incorporated. But I don't fear for that at all. She is in very good hands with JP Ferland as far as the lyrics go - she needs good musicians like Gildas Arzel and that adorable gay couple to produce the whole CD:

2 songs written and produced by Benzi

1 song written and produced by JJG

2 songs written by Deniseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee and produced by the gay couple in Montreal

 

Now we would have her best French CD yet. Keeping it simple (musically), evolving a little (Ferland) and stilling having this certain quality seal she was known for in the 90'S before the commercial cholera got her.

The whole "back to Vegas" thing stinks. Been there done that should be the attitude. If it's to stage another "unique, once in a lifetime show" then other bands and singers have proved that huge complex shows CAN tour the world and do so quite easily infact. But the lure of a $250m cheque from Caesars is just proving too much to resist is it? Celine and Rene have spent the best part of 30 years building her career and making her an international phenomenon and whilst the first Vegas stint was risky and ultimately successful a return there would sadly strip her of all she's worked for and she'd forever be remembered as a Vegas resident singer. Sad but true.

totally agree. no vegas. Vegas seemed to take away a lot of the passion inside her for performing live. All I want for her right now is a second child. I would love more projects, but only once she is well rested from this tour/vegas and ready and willing to come back. NO VEGAS PLEASE!

idk about the french album being the best yet. that's what ppl said about 1fqt, and then d'elles. bleh.

I mean i really like d'elles..and 1fqt is better than any of her english albums after a new day has come. but still..

 

you know if celine never has a comeback at all..i wouldn't be sad if she just did what all washed up legends do: RECORD A STANDARDS ALBUM! or an album of covers. or a new christmas cd! I wanna hear her do somewhere from west side story! or phantom of the opera songs! if commercial success is to be no more, then bring on the guilty pleasures
