after watching the performance several times, i must say this is one of the high points of her career and is screaming for a studio version. :wub2:

This is one of the few songs where the lyrics really made the difference for me. The first time I heard it I was not impressed by her vocal performance. I love when Celine sings mellow, don't get me wrong, but she's throaty. She did a good job, but I just wish her tone was different. I hate the throaty sound she makes. She looked really great, and the words had a lot of meaning to her, so I give her kudos for picking this song. I listened to Janis Ian's original version after Celine's and I feel Celine did it justice, but the original can't be beat. This is an amazing song lyrically, I am very fond of it now, and it grows on me more and more when I listen to Celine sing it.

 

 

Absolutely, her brilliance with the song is her rendition of it with respect to the words, her interpretation -- this one's all about the emotion and the meaning behind it and if someone wasn't following what she was singing about it wouldn't be a very riveting performance at all

i spotted one error "accounts receivesed" can't spot the other one. lol. This performance is utterly amazing, and I agree, this was a better choice than rdmh, because a lot of people are posting how reserved she is and how much better she is with singing more restrained without the over the top gestures and vocals...

 

Maybe the other is "soleetaire" for solitaire? But, of course, these things just make me love her even more! I loved YOUR review, "fabtasticfoo" - and I feel the same way!

 

Yup, give them a prize! Those were the two errors I heard. :thumbsup2:

 

It's definitely nice to hear that a lot of people really appreciated that performance. I hope Celine will be encouraged to keep challenging herself and doing the unexpected.

hey thanks for showing us that! That pic is from the AMA's last year it looks like. I have a new respect for the Jonas Brothers after hearing their words of respect and kindness for Celine. It isn't often that you hear that from a teenage boy band on how great Celine is.

so sad that Celine doesn't walk red carpets anymore...I thought the song was awesome by the way

if you read the comments on youtube...people liked the she was reserved vocally...I enjoyed it because I focused more on lyrics and the song itself, rather than her big voice

can I just say that I am addicted to this song,

 

like it's not even because I'm a Celine fan or anything, but this sound, the lyrics, the songs, and her voice with it, somehow it's made the most listenable song I've ever heard. Word to all those who've been listening to it billions of times.. This song has been on repeat on my iPod for days, and I go hours listening to it as I study.

 

Just saying. Celine needs to make an album in this style. NOW.
