Because Celine's Blues has a voice and shall have the right to speak his mind and have an opinion. And must I also add that I think "There Comes a Time" is the crappiest song recorded by Celine since "I Believe in You," in which Jörgen Elofsson also wrote. I can't believe they even had parts in "I Believe in You" in French... in an attempt to make it better... LMAO What a joke! However, I must say that "The Greatest Reward," another song Jörgen Elofsson wrote, was indeed a gem of the A New Day Has Come album. Edited October 9, 2008 at 06:43 PM by Love, Quote

It's on par with It's All Coming Back To Me Now and to me way above the rest of that stupid FIY album! How can you say such a thing? Because Celine's Blues has a voice and shall have the right to speak his mind and have an opinion. After going back and reading the past few pages of posts.... sheesh. But I agree with Sopha. The song is dull and lifeless. It would be far to of an artistic statement to call the track "understated", as that comment would also imply album worthiness. It was left off the album for a reason. Think back to "Coulda Woulda Shoulda"... that was a gem, wasn't it? LOL [i'm sure some folks love the song, but compare it to the rest of the album as it was released. Dull and unimportant. But, as with all forms of art, there are those who still find beauty in the track.] Bottom line: this track, along with an "improved" version of My Love are both on this "essential" album to boost sales, nothing else. We're not getting anything new in a greatest hits album, other than having them in the same compilation, but with the heavy and dominating use of digital media, portable digital music players [iPods, iTunes, anyone?], we can make our own playlists with OUR favorite Celine Dion ESSENTIAL tracks at anytime, and not have to pay a single cent more for it. Imagine when this album releases on iTunes and Amazon... are we going to have to buy the entire digital album just to get these newer tracks? Or will we be able to download them on their own. I could download the new tracks and create a playlist, renaming it to "My Love: The Uber-super-duper-Celine-must-have-collection" and feel just as satisfied as though I had purchased an over priced greatest hits album. LOL Let's just all remember that all art is subjective, and each and every one of us all have our own opinions. We're able to share, compare and engage one another on this forum. No need to get your panties in a bunch. Adios! Quote

Javito Posted October 9, 2008 at 08:27 PM Posted October 9, 2008 at 08:27 PM And you're right about the end of "There Comes A Time" where all she can do is whisper, because I'm sure there was nothing else she could do to make this song any better. And I wonder what's wrong with Céline whispering songs? Since it seems she only knows to record songs where she sings and screams her heart out since 2003, and specially with the recent Taking Chances album, full of high key songs one after the other, I really enjoy her low key "whispering" songs. People are tired of the "screaming" Céline Dion. Shall I remind that if there's a common critic to Céline from people who doesn't like her is (apart of the ballader label) is that she constantly makes very high notes on every song, and many times when its not necessary . Sometimes a calm and low key song its very pleasant to listen after a few high key songs. If you remember this was the way of doing the tracklists on TCOML and FIY. That's the key to combine songs and make a good tracklist (above all when Céline doesn't need to prove she can hit those high notes, but she insists on it today still ) She should record these songs and sing this way more often. I don't want to remind what's happening today with LCMM on her concerts So it wouldn't hurt some "whispering" songs these days on a Céline album. I would pay to listen a Falling Into You or Did You Give Enough Love song today Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"

I didn't take your opinion to say you don't like all the "whispering" songs, I just constructed my argument starting from your comments. I didn't put any words on your mouth, but mines But it clearly seems you didn't like the end of the song with that whispering thing, as if it wasn't enough for the song or it hasn't the required power. And I say: as if a high key screaming ending would have been better, ah another one to the list I really don't think so. I'm tired of the same Céline typical song, so that's why I enjoyed this one. Its different, and that's something to thank in Céline's repertoire these days Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"

autumnskies00 Posted October 10, 2008 at 06:53 AM Posted October 10, 2008 at 06:53 AM ehh I just listened to it. I'm sure it will grow on me, but the whole "let me be your soldier" and the army drums in the background in the begining/end is a little cheesey. Same with the lyrics. And not cheesey like Declaration of Love cheesey...cheesey like it was a left over song from Taking Chances that was trying too hard to fit in with the "Edgy" sound of the album cheesey. It just doesn't sound right for her. I felt the same way about EOM though, and I listened to it like 50 times today, so, lol I'll probably end up liking it. And I fully agree this title doesn't represent the full meaning of the song... ... But I suspect they didn't want to make a connection between Celine and the war... what I find weird, because only naming a song with the 'soldier' word doesn't mean she's gonna get linked with the war at all - IMHO...It doesn't make sense.
