I do agree that the HQ makes a big difference but these has to be one of my leaest favourite songs of Celine (it may even beat Treat Her Like a Lady for the number one spot, btw awful, awful song! )

 

How this song made it on to the "essential collection" (pfft) is beyond me. It is not one of her greatest hits and I doubt very much it would ever even be classed as a hit.

I've listened to it on repeat like 10 times while working, relaxing and doing things throughout today... and I've come to the conclusion that it's... dull and boring.

 

It's like, there are some pieces and some important elements missing to this song...

 

Maybe the missing elements will be in the final HQ version.

That's the problem when a song is leaked before its due time... We juge it too soon.

I've studied music for 12 years, and I'm a seasoned musician.

 

Even if this song was given to me in the worst possible quality, I would probably still be able to see and hear its potential or lack of potential.

 

In my opinion, this song has no climax, no power, no authenticity.

 

If it has anything to do with a "soldier," it's like a defeated soldier surrendering.

 

That's why it was rejected from "Taking Chances."

 

 

 

 

I usually agree with you Sophoan, but this time, I have to respectfully disagree The more I listen to it, the more it feels like it should have been a part of the album. While it has no 'climax', per se, the song builds and builds with emotion until the end, when she's all out of fight and all she can do is whisper... 'This Time' had no climax either and was extremely repetitive but people here love that song...

The more I listen to this song, the more I realize that the producers made the right decision to leave it out of "Taking Chances."

 

Although "This Time" was quite repetitive - it had a lot more heart and soul to it than this song that Celine had recorded from 12AM to 2:30AM and finally called it quits. "This Time" made sense to be repetitive, because of the essence of people suffering from domestic violence in that the abuser would abuse time and time again - until "THIS TIME" in which the abused finally stands up.

 

And you're right about the end of "There Comes A Time" where all she can do is whisper, because I'm sure there was nothing else she could do to make this song any better.

 

When it comes to a song inspired by war (if it is...), this doesn't have any of that appeal. It's more of a "Seduces Me" type of song. Yeah, this song might work for some of you looking for an aphrodisiac, and you can dress up in your camouflage outfits before lovemaking! LOL

 

So, some of you told me to wait for the HQ version. Even though I made it clear that I could tell exactly some thing's potential or lack of potential, doing so was a confirmation: It's the same damn thing! :sofunny: In yo' face!

 

 

I just think that it's such a disgrace to have such a dull song be on Celine's GREATEST HITS ALBUM! It's the same thing they did with the On ne change pas Greatest Hits Album... This is definitely the I-Believe-In-You of this album!

 

Look at All the Way...A Decade of Hits, with all those amazing, amazing, amazing NEW songs - DING! DING! DING! now THAT's a Greatest Hits Album!

hahaha - yeh i think it has got a climax but its just understated. I dont think its a soldier surrendering haha its about her being a soldier for someone who needs help. and i do agree with you 'thecolourofmylove' that the more i listen to it i can here that its na natural part of the TC album...probably a good choice to leave out but not one for the essential collection. And yeh dont get me started on the bore that is this time....i prefer soldier than this time. Everyone just loves it here coz its the best they're gonna get lyrically from celine....and its not even that great its wanna be shocking...and its not.

The song is just a for me. The only thing that caught my attention are the piano and drums intro and the ending where she sings '...I'll die for you'

 

The only track I would replace it with on TCh would have been 'A Song For You'

Why can't Sony just release as a single a non-typical Celine song?

Even though it's a ballad, I understand this isn't a typical ballad of hers, but this shouldn't be a reason to not release the song as a single.

And it would be gorgeous if she performed TCAT live at the Grammy's, don't ya think?
