MY LOVE: THE FRANCE EXPERIENCE

 

So I planned my whole day around getting the albums. Yes, I did, as sad as it may seem.

I took the 9:45 train into Chartres, a city which is famous for its grand cathedral.

 

I got to FNAC---and wam bam----I forgot that it was Monday and that the French don't like working Mondays---so I had to come back at 14:00 when the store opened.

 

Fine.

 

So I went to the cathedral, had a nice lunch, met up with some friends (who don't understand my obsession). I walked into the store calmly, as this was my first new-release experience in Europe. I went to the Francophone music section and looked under DION. They had many, many good albums there. BUT---- no "My Love." I nearly went into orbit and punched the lady next to me. I didn't. So I walked up to the man working there and asked "Avez-vous les nouvels albums de Celine Dion?" he said "Ahhhh....oh oui, je les oublié, c'est le "Best of", non?"

 

I said yes. And he informed me that they have two editions (as if I didn't know), but I smiled. He asked me which I wanted, I replied "Tous les deux" and received a strange look as if I was a Mme Dion stalker. I thanked him and went to the check out.

 

There were no displays at all, unless they "forgot" to do that, too.

 

So I just get home. And I am thrilled to own these CDs!

 

The French versions do have a different track listing. Yes, the single disc strangely ends with "One Heart."

 

However, the 2-CD set has all of the songs in release order ---except they strangely placed "My Love" in the middle of the first disc----as if it was an after thought. And "There Comes A Time" doesn't come last.

 

The differences in the packaging:

 

Well, the double disc's booklet is naturally longer, and it only contains ONE MORE photo (the standing up one) than the single disc edition. Plus the front cover is different----the double has the whole torso shot, and the single has just the head and shoulder shot turned the other direction.

Am I happy? With the CD, yes. It's certainly not as well put together as "On ne change pas", but it's a nice little collection. With the way FNAC handled it, not at all.

OH!!!! And buy the way!! I went into BLOCKBUSTER! And they are selling it in there, they only have about 10 cds for sale, and Celines in on the top shelf, ABOVE Mariah!

 

Went they started sellings CDS in Blockbuster, I do not know!!

I'll be going to my local record store here tomorrow in Canada bright and early to purchase my "Ultimate" edition

 

She's going to debut HUGE here in Canada next week with her currently on tour in the Country (Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg all visted this past two weeks)......Plus she'll sell like mad in Quebec....I"m guessing 40K at LEAST in Canada for next week
