Umm... haven't we all got a little off-topic here??

Nobody asked her to do this huge world tour. If I may speak honestly, I think it was a mistake going on a huge world tour right after 5 gruesome years in Vegas. Is the tour nice? Sure, but at what expense for Celine? I'd rather have more promotion done on her singles and albums rather than her just do a huge tour and totally forget about her albums and constantly go back to her 90's comfort zone.

 

I couldn't agree more with that I would prefer a thousand times that she was doing a smaller world tour but caring about her 2007 albums and promoting them properly

 

Why she has to do more than 60 concerts only in the USA and Canada, just when she has finished a FIVE YEAR show in Las Vegas? Is really reasonable that? She'd better do 30 venues and care about her albums who are there, completely abandoned.

 

But let us remember something... Celine no longer has to prove anyone anything with more number one singles and videos. Celine has now reached legend status. Most legendary artists will release immensely successful albums, but may not have number one singles (ie, Barbra Streisand).

 

See, that's the thing that really annoys me. She still has a lot to prove. She has to prove to the general public, who think she's nothing more than the My Heart Will Go On lady, that she really is a diverse singer. Every single artist has to prove themselves every single day of their lives. After some big 90's success, she can't go "Oh, well now just because i'm big, I can just not give a crap about promoting myself". What about her fans who want her to be seen well with the general public? It hurts seeing your favorite artist, the person you look up to as a better person, trashed in the media as this sappy ballad woman, all because she won't take the time to take a couple hours to shoot a music video for a good single, or that she won't stop talking about Rene-Charles and "life" for 5 minutes so she can actually talk about the album she's promoting.

 

to that The problem about all this is that I think Céline has ended up believing that she has nothing to prove anymore. And that's true in one hand... but so false in the other. She has a lot of things to prove. She thinks she has nothing new to show, and for the moments she's acting like that. But she has to show many great things to the world still.

But things are going very different today since 2003 when she bubbled in Las Vegas (that's when all things beagn to change), she's totally focused on her world tour and the concert aspects, but she has completely abandoned the business side of her career, as well as René too

 

Chart positions don't matter, but it's not all about that for music videos. Maybe her devoted fans, who have been with her throughout this journey, would like a little extra. Do we not deserve it? Do we have to become her personal servents before her and Sony care about promotion? All it takes is to go on some talk shows, talk about the album and not freaking RC for an hour, sing one of the hot singles from Taking Chances insted of the usual "Old song/Taking Chances and/or Alone", and take a couple hours to shoot a decent music video for that single. Why must her and Sony constantly keep appealing to the casual fan? The casual fans do nothing but buy All The Way(and the new compliation) and they'll maybe buy a ticket to one concert. Why do they keep getting everything?

 

A New Day has nothing to do with her giving a crap about promoting hew new work and taking some time to do a tiny bit extra for the fans. Yes, she's recorded great albums, but she doesn't just have to stop at the recording studio. ALl she does is go in, sing the songs, and then she doesn't care anymore. She'll do the minimal promotion asked of her, but she'll just babble about her family and sing the oldies at these promotional stops. The little extras fans want isn't that hard. Some people act like we're asking the world of her. We're just asking for her to care about the albums she takes the time to sing about.

 

:worthy: to that!! Again, instead of singing 5 years half a year each and doing a huge world tour with hundreds of concerts, I would really prefer her music to be cared and promoted. Its what she deserves. And US, her fans, too. And if she doesn't want to involve in that (something which I respect), she should care to have at least the right people to do THAT for her instead. But she doesn't even have that team of people behind. That's all my complain, and its not against Céline, is to ring the alarm and say her " wake up Céline, and do something for you although its not done by yourself". But look for the right people to do it at least

 

And where does this lead us again? To the same petition I think we all agree in this forum: that Céline leaves Sony BMG for another good label who cares about her This is what's all about, and I think that while she's staying with Sony, we won't see any good change for her. And its obvious that René isn't doing her job anymore. She needs another manager too A huge career like hers can't be directed by her husband and father of her son

Maybe this is their last attempt to milk her 90's success. Perhaps the new opera projects materialize (Maria Callas movie, and that other opera house director guy that talked about her recently) and it will mark a new, fresh, direction in her career.

I know sony doesn't really care about us. They think of money. But, I know Celine doesn't know any of us really. But, I know she cares about her fans. Celine said something about her music that touched me:

 

"I do not feel like I have to sing something sooo cool. I feel that people go and listen to my music when they feel lonely, or they need to be comforted, or they're lost, or they need a friend, or they need somebody to hold on to. I want to be suitable for their lives."

 

Celine has gotten me through some rough times. Her songs carry me. Life is rough and there aren't many things out there that can take the pain away. So as long as I listen to Celine and her music makes me feel better...then that is all I need.

Umm... that "My Love: The Essential Lovesongs" compilation has nothing whatsoever to do with Celine. And it is not a tribute to her. Really: could you ever see P!nk covering Celine? It's just a compilation album of various artists using almost the same title as Celine's upcoming "My Love: The Essential Collection" album. It's basically just a change of one word.

Celine did a duet with her at Divas Las Vegas singing "You shook me all night long". She isnt big in the US at all but her new album

will be released in the US early 2009. According to the critics her best album yet.

But who cares who releases what. Its all a matter of personal taste anyways. The people that like Celine's music will buy the cd and the

people who dont like her music, wont. Simple as that.

 

P!nk wasn't in Divas Las Vegas. The two women who performed "You Shook Me All Night Long" with Celine were Anastacia ("One Day In Your Life") and Meredith Brooks ("B*tch").
