I love Barbra Streisand but I thought she moved out of the country?

Nope. She's in Malibu, CA. Has been for years.

I was being sarcastic :giggle: If you remember during the last presidential election she said if Bush became president she would leave the country.

I was at a Stevie Wonder concert last night in Birmingham, and he got the whole crowd (13,500 people) to chant "Barack Obama! Barack Obama!".

It was a cool moment! :D

"Independents flocking to McCain" (52%) (Washington Times) + 5 Million Hillary Supporters

Republican presidential nominee Sen. John McCain has gotten a jolt of support right where he wanted it - from the independent voters whom he courted so aggressively at last week's convention - and now holds a healthy lead over his Democratic rival, Sen. Barack Obama, in the chase for that key constituency.

A Gallup Poll to be released Tuesday shows that Mr. McCain's backing among independent voters jumped 12 percentage points in recent days, providing welcome news for a Republican candidate who has been torn between nurturing his maverick appeal to independents and trying to appease the party's conservative base.

He somehow satisfied both groups at the party convention last week in St. Paul, Minn., where he energized core Republican voters by naming Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate, but also emphasized the ticket's commitment to changing Washington through bipartisanship.

"Clearly, he is moving on the independents," Gallup Poll editor-in-chief Frank Newport said of the new survey that helps explain how Mr. McCain of Arizona gained ground.

The poll shows support for Mr. McCain among independents spiked from 40 percent to 52 percent, his largest share of the independent vote since Gallup began tracking the race.

Mr. McCain also gained five points among Democrats, from 9 percent to 14 percent.

Compounding Mr. Obama's challenges, about 29 percent of former rival Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's backers - more than 5 million voters - say they will cast their ballots for Mr. McCain, according to pollster John Zogby.

"He's a good candidate and a resilient fellow. We've just got to see how resilient a guy he is," Mr. Zogby said.

Mr. McCain took a 49 percent to 44 percent lead Monday in the Gallup Daily Tracking Poll of registered voters, a six-point bounce for Mr. McCain since before the convention. A USA Today/Gallup Poll published Monday showed him opening a 10-point lead over Mr. Obama of Illinois, 54 percent to 44 percent, among likely voters.

These are the largest advantages that Mr. McCain has scored in months. He had consistently trailed Mr. Obama in most polls throughout the race.

The latest Zogby International survey showed the McCain ticket ahead 49.7 percent to 45.9 percent, although the poll more frequently puts Mr. McCain in the lead than most other surveys.

More and more Clinton supporters are seeing right threw Obama's salesman pitch.

"We'd have a better chance of maintaining the peace with Barack Obama"

MONTREAL -- When Celine Dion's Taking Chances world tour blew through Washington on Monday, the pop diva's husband and manager, Rene Angelil, took advantage of the political buzz to announce they would like to see Democrat Barack Obama in the White House.

"We think that at the international level, Barack Obama would project a better image of the United States," Angelil said. "John McCain is a good man, but it seems to me that America would be better represented by Barack Obama. It also seems we'd have a better chance of maintaining the peace with Barack Obama."

It's not the first time Dion has taken sides in American politics.

After Hurricane Katrina ravaged New Orleans in 2005, Dion came out swinging against Republican President George W. Bush.

Her famous suggestion to Larry King that rescuers "take a kayak" to help the rescue efforts, and her $1-million donation to the Red Cross, were a harsh critique of the White House's slow response.

"How come it's so easy to send planes in another country to kill everyone in a second, to destroy lives?" she asked at the time.

Even with homes in Florida and Vegas and a five-year stint performing at Caesar's Palace, neither Dion nor Angelill are voting for president.

"We're Canadian," stated Angelil.

Celine and Rene are making the right choice!

But we'll have to wait 'till November to see if the best has won the elections...

I'm worried that again a mistake will be made an McCain will be voted as president...

Wonder what country he's going to find then to start a war... Oh wait, that's right, Iran is a good candidate...

The arms industry would probably love that.

Hey, maybe not a bad idea afterall? Maybe the Dollar can decrease again in value, ideal to travel to the US :bananadance:

Congrats! This is my second presidential election where I have a say, but this election is so bizarre! It's crazy, I've never seen so many pop media such as Oprah, The View, Vogue, Time, US weekly, etc. I guess everyone wants a piece of the pie!

But regardless if Obama or McCain become president it still is up to us to pressure our goverment and let them know what we want.

Rene doesn't know about all the corruption in the DNC and how they stole the nomination. Fortunately everyone will know when the documentaries come out. It would be in Celine's best interest to stay out of it. I know a lot of Hillary supporters that aren't voting for Obama and are Celine fans. Taking sides would not be good for her.

No, in this election season many people have found themselves angry at their favorite celebrities over who they endorsed. She shouldn't put herself in that position.

It actually scares me that McCain is ahead in the polls... Even after 8 years of disaster with George W. Bush it seems that Americans really want to be in war with the world, really want a economic crisis, etc...

I just don't get it...

Polls arround the globe are resulting in very favourable percentages for Barack above McCain, nearly the whole world want Barack to win the elections and are supporting him to be the next president in the US.

Could anyone explain why this is happening? And please PrincesseJen I've heard enough about Hillary Rodham. She is NOT the candidate so leave her out of it. Anyone to give me a straight decent and honest opinion why this is happening?

Thanks ;)

Bralo,

McCain shocked people by adding his vice presidential pick, a woman.Unfortunately, some women don't see through this, as she is a woman who is not liberal at all with women's rights.

Now things have turned into a name calling fiasco, and things are looking more grim my the day.

I'm not giving up yet. But if Americans make the same crappy choice again, they deserve the crap that goes along with it. And it sucks for those of us that see the light.

With French heritage and a French last name...duh.

And why shouldn't McCain take this opportunity to pick a woman when the Democratic party did everything they could to ignore the women of their own party? We're not fooled. The DNC has no one to blame but themselves for allowing and participating in a corrupt process which also included ignoring sexism against Hillary. Also we have come to realize that the Democrats want to win so they hold women hostage with things like Roe VS Wade. That fact is we've had many Republican presidents that all talk crap about Roe vs Wade and have done nothing about it. It's a scare tactic by the Dems to keep women voting in their party. And no Bralo, I will NOT stop mentioning Hillary. Millions of voters have been silenced this primary season. I will not hold my tongue or turn my head from what the Democratic Party has done.

Since you don't "get it" this article can give you good insight as to why us Clinton supporters are now supporting McCain. I recommend reading the entire article.

My History Of P.U.M.A.: From Iowa To Denver and Beyond

In 2000, Democratic leaders went to the pulpits to preach "Popular Vote" and to tell us of how anti-democratic the Electoral College is. Yet, in 2008, they put forth a nominating system that makes the Electoral College look like one of the most democratic systems we have going.

On June 3rd, Barack Obama's Holy Grail was that he had won more delegates than had Hillary Clinton. However, what the media and America didn't seem to realize is that that delegate count itself is representative of next-to-nothing. Barack Obama won more delegates by winning the state of Idaho than Hillary Clinton won by winning the states of Ohio and Texas combined... all based on a mangled and socially-engineered allocation system currently employed by the DNC. If we were to look at something more truly representational -- Congressional districts, for example -- we would see that Hillary Clinton won over 40 more Congressional districts than did Barack Obama. Good enough for Congress, but not for Democratic primaries?

Everything that is wrong with the system favored Barack Obama. Everything that is right about the system favored Hillary Clinton.

Many of us PUMAs feel that the DNC did to us in 2008 what the RNC and the Supreme Court did to us in 2000. Barack Obama represents the will of the DNC -- He does *not* represent the will of the Democratic voter. It is this betrayal and hypocrisy that have led us to a place where we cannot fathom validating Obama with our votes this November.

And beyond the personalities involved, the *process* must be changed. Regardless of who becomes the 44th President of the United States, the PUMA Movement will push forward with its goals for fairer elections

If the Democratic Party won't uphold Democratic principles, who will?

If the voters don't hold the Democratic Party accountable, who will?

Funny thing is... Hillary was talking about HERSELF... as she and her husband have been "singing" praises to Obama recently.... :P

No she wasn't. At 32 seconds is Obama giving a speech and using "the light" message.

And if she still wants a political career she HAS to support Obama. Some of Bills comments were interesting though. :shifty:
