She also wore them to the International Achievement in Arts Awards in 1997. WOW! Great finding! Just a question: On that screencap: The sole looks white not black ... 🤔 But according to this other picture, looks very likely!! Edited March 5, 2026 at 09:56 PM by drove all night 1
Thomas Posted March 5, 2026 at 10:32 PM Posted March 5, 2026 at 10:32 PM (edited) I think you are seeing the side of the shoe and I guess her foot, the sole is the black part directly below the heel. Hard to see in the low quality of course! You can see better in motion: https://www.pond5.com/stock-footage/item/205150979-billboard-music-awards-1996-las-vegas-04-dec-1996 Edited March 5, 2026 at 10:34 PM by Thomas

Popular Post drove all night Posted March 6, 2026 at 04:22 PM Popular Post Posted March 6, 2026 at 04:22 PM (edited) This was for sure the most emotional research I've ever did in relation with "our" Queen! Starting with the moment in "I AM: CELINE DION" where she mentioned that the necklace once belonged to Maria Callas and that she hoped she would give her strength by carrying it. The fact she chose something of "La Divina" moved me to tears! Long before Céline came into my life I was an affacionate opera fan and adoring interpretations of the great Callas. Her way to pour so much heart and soul in the roles she sang deeply captured my heart! Just like Céline does in her genre of music. So, after mentioning that the necklace once belonged to Callas, I remembered a record I once possessed where Callas was wearing a necklace with pendants - So this was the start to find more pictures of Callas. She used to wear it in a different way, and not with all pendants as the collection grew over the years. But that Orthodox Cross was always part of it. I also found out about the Sotheby's auction in 2007 where (presumably) it was bought by Réne for her. These findings are certainly the heart of my HUGE "CelinishCloset"-collection! PS: If you like my contributions to the new reactivated thread, I would be happy about a "LIKE" or some words (and I assume all the other contributors as well!). Putting together content isn't so "quick and easy" to be done. A LOT OF WORK stand behind the images and words - so: A little reaction of the readers up here would just be lovely and appreciative! Thank you! Edited March 6, 2026 at 04:23 PM by drove all night 6 5

You are right. Céline said it once in interview, that she has always feel very emotive regarding Mariah Callas, because beside her fame, and the passion of her art she was so unhappy. And Céline added it was such a gift to have been loved by her family and relatives. So René bought it for one of her birthday. It is even more powerful since it wasn't a fashion necklace. M. Callas carried it so many times, it was really an intimate jewel to her, and now to Céline. Edited March 6, 2026 at 08:04 PM by emiliejolie 2

Thank you! Thank u so much for this post, every time I look at or listen to anything from Maria and Celine it is so moving. They are both such similar emotional human beings with such big hearts, their eyes are also so similar in the way that you can see that depth in them. The book about Maria, Cast A Diva is a very interesting read or listen, showing the similarities between them except as Celine has said she had all the love in her life that Maria didn't 🥲 There was a few touches in the documentary about Maria wasn't there, the necklace, a book on the table and that beautiful picture on her wall, I couldn't get that image out of my mind and discovered on google that it was of Maria as a young child. I think Celines La Diva song is a special song of them being together in a moment, the emotion and also when she performed it for that tv special. Seeing Céline wearing the necklace and holding it is such a moving connection between them Edited March 7, 2026 at 06:52 AM by scarletpimpernel

Seeing Céline wearing the necklace and holding it is such a moving connection between them Oh "scarletpimpernel"!!!! I never ever thought that someone else would also recognize the painting which was hanging in Céline's house. The strange thing was, that I didn't recognize it on first sight. I had the strange feeling haven seen it "somewhere", but only vaguely! Until last year when a Greek friend of mine sent a link to an article about Maria, and there it was! This picture you also discovered! Moved me too that Céline had such a huge painting of the 3 years old Maria. Very strange on the original picture: Her mother, father and sister are dressed - Maria only wears a necklace and a drap! And yes, of course I've also detected the book on Céline's table. And in the scene where Céline's sitting by the pool she's listening to the aria of "Ebben? Ne andrò lontana" from the first act of Alfredo Catalani's opera "La Wally". In my opinion the best and most moving rendition of that aria! https://youtu.be/uIOifQrFtmU?si=3c_c41002_MZMRUF Thank you VERY MUCH FOR YOUR COMMENT, which made me very happy and touched me deeply! 💛 2

Chapeau to detect them as Manolos from that picture Delta posted (where not much of the shoe is visible)! 👏 And, yes, you are right, they are Manolos. But not the correct version. Céline's has only two straps over her toes and the "strap tongue" is a bit different - more triangular than rectangular. As you certainly know there were never original color picture of this promo-shoot published, we can only guess the color. But it more looks like brown/black to me. I'm not 100 % sure regarding the name of the shoes. I found them many years after 2003 on a vintage page, where rarely the original names are mentioned.
Thomas Posted March 7, 2026 at 10:01 PM Posted March 7, 2026 at 10:01 PM Oh yes, I can see in the new photo you added where you can see the full shoe. I do prefer the brown colour variant. 1

drove all night Posted March 8, 2026 at 02:16 PM Posted March 8, 2026 at 02:16 PM (edited) Today I do have some shoes for you. I've been "running after them" since 2004! 🤣🤣 🏃♀️👠But the weird thing in fashion-searches is, that it sometimes gets more "easier" to find something many, many years after Céline wore it, as the item can be found on vintage pages or ebay. Certainly very cute sandals by Valentino Garavani and a cute-elegant look Céline chose for the "ELLA"awards in 2004. (The dress by Iranian-born American fashion designer Behnaz Sarafpour was already found way back then by Frida in July 2008. I just updated the Runway pictures add it here again.) drove all night Posted March 10, 2026 at 05:21 PM Posted March 10, 2026 at 05:21 PM Due to the posting @ Céline Dion of today, March 10th: https://youtu.be/jRERD9mDWg4?si=snOXNV9xGEXVkB-s Now THAT was easy to find!!! Strange that no one else found it before - so, here we go: Céline chose a very popular outfit for her performance which made headlines in the fashion scene in 1996. Mostly because Gwyneth Paltrow chose it for the 13th MTV Video Awards in September 1996 (so this was before Céline's performance was broadcast and maybe even recorded). The red velvet tuxedo can also be seen in the "Gucci"-museum in Florence (Italy). It's Gucci all over look. Due to the fog the shoes are only a wild guess (A request to all cameramen of this planet: ALWAYS film Céline's shoes without any smoke! 🤣🤣🤣🎥) - but I am 90 % sure those are Gucci as well. By that time Tom Ford was the designer head in the "House of Gucci" - he revived the red velvet look for his own collection in 2019 (only with satin pants and peek-a-boo shoes) - and Céline looked gorgeous - both times: In 1996 and in 2019. 4
