Young People Who Like Celine

I am 15 years old I love Celine Dion, and a lot of people think I'm weird (to say the least) because of it. When I saw her perform in 2002 on her "A New Day Has Come" special I was captivated, and have loved her ever since. As I was reading some of the posts here a noticed that there were a lot of young guys and girls who like Celine, and I was wondering if anyone of them are made fun of for liking her. I hate it when someone says that she "sucks". How do you deal with it when or if you're riddiculed for liking her?

oh yes! i fell in love with celine when i was 14years old. i am 19 now, so for the greater part of my teenage years i loved her. other high schoolers took it very odd, and i was the brunt of many jokes. actaully my nickname even in my senior yearbook was "celine". i mean no one every through stuff at me becasue of it or anything, no i had things thrown at me for other reasons, but that is another forum! actually how i dealt with it was that i listened to her more. her music ad life was and still is a stronf influence for me. its gives me strength, in turn making me love her more! its a cycle...

Hey , I'm 15 years old too. I loved her since 2001, some of my friends say that Celine is old and I'm so crazy when I say that she's my Idol , they think that Brit is better, younger and more beautiful than Celine, and everyteenager loves Brit. I am the only one in my class likes Celine but no prob, they can laugh at me, laugh at Celine, but nothings gonna change my love for Celine, she's still the one . Once I said to them that Brit was only an unmatured girl now and forever.

You guys and gals are so right! I'm turning 15 this October, and all my friends think that Celine is "old!" Actually, I think I'm the only Celine fan at my school. And I think an extra reason why they laugh and make fun of me sometimes is because I'm a guy that likes Celine. Junior High can be so cruel! They said that I need to get a new dream! But no matter what, I always stick up for Celine! They say that no one likes her anymore, but they don't know how wrong they are. And they act like it's nothing when I tell them how many Grammys, Oscars, Junos, and about the Diamond Award that she won! They're all into this horrible rap crap, which I can't stand! I hate it! How can they call that stuff music? Even my teachers make fun of me sometimes when I tell 'em about my website, Celine, and the forum! This world is so negative! We need more people like Celine to make it a better place. I told one of my friends that he need some posotive imput in his life, and that it should come from Celine, and he said "whatever." But I really don't care what they think, say, or do! I love Celine and I always will, and no one can ever change that! Celine rocks, and she's the best!

Ok I am lots older than you all, but I love her and I am glad when I hear younger people who love her too...I think that is great. She has talent unlike a lot of the groups that younger people like these days. And that's really bad...your teachers don't sound very mature if they are making fun of you for liking Celine...aren't teachers supposed to be role models and help and support the students, not make fun of them.

 

Oh well, Celine is the BEST!!!!!

There are plenty of young Celine fans out there. I'm 24, most of the members here are under 30. Celine has fans from all ages I've been made fun of often times by my friends, my nickname is "Celine Dion" to some People say it's not cool to like Celine and many mention that she's getting old and should retire...I've learned to ignore them and stick up for the queen Sadly, there aren't many people that are fans whom I know in person. That's why we have this community, all of us can share something in common and talk everything Celine without being called names.

that's not true. but maybe most of celinefans online especially on forum are young people. cause many older fans don't know how to use internet, especially forum.

I am a Celine fan since I was 5, I saw her for the first time 17 years ago.

Lucky me that when I was a teen, Celine was in the height of her success, when I was 15, it was My heart will go on everywhere. Everybody loved her song, everybody had her albuns, Céline was the coolest thing on earth.

 

But even so, I was made fun latter. No one could understand why I was so crazy about her, why I couldn't stop listening to her songs, why I was so inspired by her stories, her life, her music... more than anyone else around.

 

To the girls of my age it was non sense to have all you bedroom with Celine Dion posters instead of backstreet boys posters or any hot guy. Some people said I was sick. They didn't understand, a year latter why I was upset because René was ill. I heard so many times "You don't know him, you don't know her, you have nothing to do with her" They didn't get why I was sooooooooooooooo happy and thrilled when Céline announced her pregnancy and latter had her baby. And they still don't understandn why I've been through so many things and worked so hard to go to Vegas. And even today my own boss (42 years old) makes fun of this.

 

I mean, people who are not fans like us cannot understand this magical connection that bonds us all to Céline. Is s kind of love that we all share for the same wonderful person. Her music is important for us, we admire her, we care for her and, in a way, we grow up with her. Having Céline for role model in our teenage years is the best choice we can make because she is a wonderful person and a great influence.

 

And I think we must be proud of her. People who don't like her are missing a great opportunity to apreciate a great living legend, a woman of a rare talent, not just some blond barbie half naked in a video or some mad rapper mad at the world.

I don't care about what people think about my tastes. All I know is that Celine is a great singer, very unique. I've liked Céline since I was 8, and I've been a real fan since 1999. And yeah, everyone made fun of me, said that I must be kidding etc. I was a bit ashamed at the beginning, but then, I would've kicked anyone's #ss who would dare say anything like that

Well, I've been a fan since "My heart will go on". At that time I was twelve years old and many people liked Céline's music back then. I never shouted out that I'm a Céline fan, it was my private thing to like her, but when somebody asked me if it's true that I'm a fan, I didn't deny it. Today, there are some people who know that I like Céline and they say that they don't like her much, but they are ok with the fact that I do. Even my french teacher once said while discussing our favourite music in class that she likes Céline. And my former teacher from elementary school always asks me to burn her a CD if Céline released a new album So I have quite a normal life being a Céline fan without being called names, etc.

You know what makes me laugh?

So many people love to bash Céline, they say she is old and boring and so on. It's kinda weird this criticism because we feel like we're a minority but Céline sold more than 175 million albuns, that's A LOT. And everybody knows her songs and everybody recognizes her voice... Every week she has 20500 fans in her shows. Even so everyone tells she sucks. If everyone hates her, who is buying then? Who is going to her concerts?

LOL, I remember once, we were in class and we were supposed to work by ourselves. The teachers weren't with us. Emeline (my best friend) and I were, of course, talking about Céline. And someone heard us talking about Vegas, and suddenly, a girl shouted "WHAT ?? Emeline, you're going to Las Vegas to see Céline Dion ???" so everyone got interested, and we talked about Céline for something like 30 minutes all together that was pretty cool.

This reminds me when my teacher wanted us to have an exam on January 14 at 14:00. And I say I couldn't because I had to go to the airport 16:00 and I wouldn't even have time to say goodbye to my mom. And they asked where I was going. I told them I was going to see Celine in Vegas. Their faces----->

 

And when I said I was going alone, their faces--->

 

 

Them they asked me a lot of questions about it, it was fun.

Hehehehe, well our teachers reacted the same way when they learnt that Emeline wasn't actually sick, but in Las Vegas

 

And you know what, talking about all that, it makes me want to meet you. It'd be such a blast to talk together, to share our experiences. Although we're not all english, I'm pretty sure we'd understand each others !

I've been a fan since I was 13 years old (21 now), when I was in Junior High the jokes would never stop. Sometimes people didn't know who Celine was ... so it was okay because I made some of them fans... but after MHWGO was recorded... and EVERYBODY knew who she was... it was both good and bad because people would come to me asking about the song and lyrics... but then there were some of the mean kids.

 

Don't let it get to you, usually when you get into high school people start to learn to respect your music tastes. Who cares what they think, they are the ones missing out on all the Celinish FUN!

Haha, and the funny thinig is that those people who don't llike Celine or make fun of me HAS her mp3s on their computers. The first person who called me had at least 10 songs from her. I know they're too ashamed to admit they like her music.

I used to be very sad when somebody said that Celine suck, but i learned to ignore them.No one has ever made fun of me for liking her ,but some people speak bad of her just to make me angry.As i siad that doesn't affects me any more because i don't care what people say.I love her music and that's all that matters On the other hand i'm very lucky...my mother is a Celine Dion fan too
