A “Celebration” Of Madonna Music - The Definitive Greatest Hits Collection September 28/29 Release

July 23, 2009 - For Immediate Release (Burbank, California) - Madonna, who has racked up a record 37 top 10 hits as well as seven No. 1 albums (including her last four) on the Billboard Pop Charts, has given her fans yet another opportunity to “celebrate” her musical achievements. Today, Warner Bros. Records officially confirmed the September 29th release in the U.S. (September 28 outside U.S.) of “CELEBRATION” – the ultimate compilation of Madonna songs. The songs on “Celebration” have all been remastered and selected by Madonna and her fans. They cover the expanse of the Material Girl’s extraordinary career of hits including “Everybody,” “Express Yourself,” “Vogue” and “4 Minutes.” “Celebration” will be available in a two-CD set as well as a single CD. There will also be a “Celebration” DVD released simultaneously which includes the video visionary’s best videos including several that have never before been available on DVD.

“Celebration,” the CD will also include two new songs that were recently recorded in New York City. The first single, also titled, “Celebration,” co-produced by Madonna and Paul Oakenfold, will be released August 3rd. A video for the single, which will be included on the “Celebration” DVD was just filmed in Milan, Italy and was directed by long time Madonna collaborator Jonas (“Ray of Light”) Akerlund. Several dance club remixes of “Celebration” are already headed to the clubs. The song will also be available on CD and vinyl maxi. Radio will receive the “Celebration” single on August 3rd.

The cover for “Celebration” was created by street pop artist “Mr. Brainwash” who is best known for “throwing modern cultural icons into a blender and turning it up to eleven.” (A copy of the cover image of the “Celebration” CDs and DVDs is attached)

Madonna, a multi Grammy award winning singer, writer and producer has had over 12 No. 1 singles and has a record-smashing 39 No. 1 singles on Billboard’s Hot Dance Club Songs Chart – by far the most of any artist in the over 30 year history of the list.

9. Word is in that Warner Bros is going to be promoting the heck out of this GH. There is a huge marketing campaign behind it, and they are going to make sure their last album with Madge is a hit.

That's it for now. :P

the song itself is nice, but..... everyone is talking about how whitney lost her voice, but I think that Madonna's voice is also becoming more dry and less great to listen too! she never was the best singer out there, but I think her freaky diets are affecting her voice too!

Thank you Pepis for the links and Nicky for the thorough information.

I love the single.

I didn't like the song much, but still it's better than much of "Hard Candy". Just like Janet Jackson and The Black Eyed Peas did with their latest albums, Madonna is bringing the sound of '90s, too!!

For the new compilation album, I had always expected it to include songs from 'Die Another Day' on, following two previous compilations. I hate when some great singles are left out of greatest hits albums, and Madonna always does it. So, when I learnt it would be a career-spanning collection, I was disappointed. Just like 'Burning Up', 'Angel', 'Dress You Up', 'True Blue', 'Who's That Girl?', 'Oh Father', 'Keep It Together' and 'Hanky Panky' weren't included in "The Immaculate Collection", and worse than that; 'This Used to Be My Playground', 'Bad Girl', 'Fever', 'Rain', 'I'll Remember', 'You'll See', 'You Must Love Me' and 'Nothing Really Matters' weren't included in "GHV2", this album will exclude many great songs as well. I already stopped hoping for 'Nothing Fails', 'Love Profusion', 'Get Together', 'Jump' and 'Miles Away'.

Im sure they aren't as bad tickets as you think ;) I was watching some footage from the SS tour on Youtube and it's so amazing to hear her perform some of her older hits, live! It's like :wow: Madonna still has it. Would be a treat to see her perform even just once.

Yes! And I love how she re-invents all the old songs with new arrangements. Makes them feel fresh again.

I know, but I thought more people would buy it out-of-the-box.

Warner Bros didn't think, and released it because it leaked. Now that it's released before radio release, her core fanbase will buy it then it's gonna die down. They should've let radio try and pick it up then go for it. Either way I doubt it'll get higher than Top 20, maybe Top 10 in the US. But it'll be Europe's #1 selling single, I bet.

Yeah, I was pretty  about that.

In the UK I believe it has an excellent chance of hitting number 1 upon release.

Okay, sooo.. had a great time last night! Didn't think I was going to see ANYTHING from my seat, but the majority of the show was on the "catwalk" or the front part of the stage, so I saw it all..

Arrived early so I sat there for quite a while (from 6:15pm til midnight, the show started almost an hour late, around 9:50 and they seemed to have problems with the screens). But when it finally started our ears exploded alright (thought the entire stadium was gonna fall apart at one point). I might not be the greatest fan of her voice, but you have to admire her physique and energy on stage!

Like I said, there were only a couple of hundred people there when I arrived

But the crowd slowly grew during the hours..

And by the time the show started it was a full house, 59,000 people
