idroveallnight Posted February 13, 2010 at 12:42 AM Posted February 13, 2010 at 12:42 AM Technically, Celine will be there since they are premiering the "We Are The World" video during the opening ceremonies. Quote
Belle Céline Posted February 13, 2010 at 12:48 AM Posted February 13, 2010 at 12:48 AM Technically, Celine will be there since they are premiering the "We Are The World" video during the opening ceremonies. Physically she's not there, which is what people were wondering. If she was going to be there in person, really she's not because she isn't there in person. Just on video, with about 80 other people lol. Quote “There’s nothing I love more than the romance of a night in the theater.”http://i39.tinypic.com/ws0due.png

Lang is also a great Canadian singer, who made a version of Hallelujah in the 90's and make it a great success on radio! OMG Garou just sang Un peu plus haut Loved it.That was sooooo painful.. He should retire, her voice is so bad now.. I can't believe they didn't ask Ginette Reno, that's terrible Quote http://static-illicoweb.videotron.com/illicoweb/static/webtv/images/content/player/TVA_Celine_Dion_Sans_Attendre_Vf_WT_Poster.jpg

Imagine that, with the same power and emotions they had in SLP I loved the opening ceremonies, but it's a pity she wasn't there just because its the games in Canada her country Quote
Acacia Posted February 13, 2010 at 09:11 AM Posted February 13, 2010 at 09:11 AM Aww, I wish I could have seen Garou's performance. Watching the ceremony, I was upset that they didn't include more of the French culture, but no...it was just that NBC didn't show it. They are really on my bad side! Quote http://oi52.tinypic.com/2aaavxd.jpg ♥ Thank you, Céline for giving me the greatest birthday I could ask for! ♥
Dionesque Posted February 13, 2010 at 12:28 PM Posted February 13, 2010 at 12:28 PM I missed on the opening ceremony as I was asleep... It will reair here at 8:15pm tonight so I may watch it than. I used to like Garou, even saw him live in concert back than in 2003 so it's a bit sad to hear that his voice has gotten bad... But I also heard he doesn't care much for his voice and career, he just carry on without any special care on his voice so yeah, that's the way it is... But I'll judge after hearing myself - let's hope they won't cut it out off the broadcast here. Was he the only singing performer? Or were there other singing acts too? Who? Sofie Posted February 13, 2010 at 12:36 PM Posted February 13, 2010 at 12:36 PM There were lots of other artists, Nelly Fourtado, Bryan Adams and more, I don't remember I got that she wasn't going to perform when I had stayed up from 3 to 6 in the night (different timezone) and I didn't get to see Celine! CD4ever Posted February 13, 2010 at 05:34 PM Posted February 13, 2010 at 05:34 PM I saw the last hour of the ceremony this morning (repeat). I totally didn't expect Garou! smw Posted February 13, 2010 at 05:43 PM Posted February 13, 2010 at 05:43 PM I've gotta say - the opening ceremony was beautiful. But it was very strange for Celine not to be there. She IS Canada to so many people. She is by far and away the biggest artist to ever come out of there! So it was bittersweet. But kd Lang's performance was breathtaking. I saw her in concert recently - and her voice is so velvety perfect!!! Quote

Lou555 Posted February 13, 2010 at 06:47 PM Posted February 13, 2010 at 06:47 PM (edited) who's that 16 year old that sang the anthem?she's really good.i bet you one of her influences is celine lmao She's a young Jazz singer from Montréal called Nikki Yanofsky. She's a lot better when doing jazz imo. I read she has sung with Céline at one time. I was glad to hear JP Ferland's "Un peu plus haut, un peu plus loin" but I thought it was too far from Garou's style and I didn't like his singing there unfortunately. I believe he was NOT the right choice for this song(he should have chosen another). But the guy is so cute, I watched him more than I listened at one point. Anyway, he was asked one year ago to sing at those ceremonies. He was their choice first, not the song. When he did the duet cd with JP, that's when he thought of this song and talked to Ferland about doing it last night. Of course, this song is iconing in Québec and has hauting and inspirational lyrics. Taking part in the "Sur les plaines" show with Céline, he witnessed again how powerful this song still was. It didn't air on NBC last night apparently. I watched it live in french and he was there but I recorded it on NBC(I couldn't find it on there). Montréal's Leonard Cohen song by K.D. Lang was just wonderfully interpreted. Joni Mitchell's "Both sides now" was fabulous joined by the young guy flying. All and all I appreciated the poetic parts of the ceremony the most, either visual or otherwise. I read a lot of article on the web when they say how they missed Céline being there, the Ultimate Canadian Superstar of course!! Personnally I think it would have been great but I totally understand and respect her life choices here. What she's doing right now(IVF attempt) is SO much more important then this. She's got her priorities straight. Edited February 13, 2010 at 08:02 PM by Lou555 Quote
