one reporter here NZ prime tv said he's a bit disappointed that Celine wasn't there!!! that's something i didn't think someone would say that but that's cool

looking at ppl's twitter entries, it's enjoying to see how many ppl were hoping to see Celine there. And it's funny how someone said, he/she normally doesn't listen nor enjoy Celine's type of music, but was still hoping Celine to come up, cuz it's where she absolutely fits in, appreciated and tolerated.

They cut Garou's performance at the opening ceremonie but they are showing Marie-Mai singing "Emmène-moi". She's on right now on NBC! :)

 

As it was expected, no Céline.

 

Note to MJ Fox : No one has EVER put bacon on their poutine, no one EVER! :lol:

Well it's a pity that she didn't show up neither in Beijing nor in Vancouver but at the same thime I'm glad - I hope that everything is fine with her (and hopefully with someone else) and to be honest I'm satisfied that she didn't do the rumoured duet with Bryan Adams at the opening... People this song was quite a crap and wasn't representative at all. It wasn't unique... When Celine sings it should be sth breathtaking which would be unforgettable while such a song wasn't different from any other...

If you ask me the rumours that were going around during the weekend were just a publicity stunt to get people to tune in and watch the closing ceremony...

Not disappointed about Celine at all. But more about the other people that did or didn't show up.

I don't know what you guys think, I didn't get to see the Opening Ceremony, but the Closing Ceremony seemed very billingual to me :yes: I loved the giant beavers with the "made in Canada" seal on their tails :-D

I agree, it has been well known Celine would not be there. It was interesting to see "tweets" (as others have mentioned) about the disappointment of Celine not being there. As a matter of fact, I responded to a tweet a few minutes ago regarding Celine...they were surprised Celine was not there considering she is the most well known Canadian. ^_^

Well, in a typical poutine... there is no bacon BUT when you eat poutine at La Banquise in Montreal... they have poutine with lots of different toppings!! Pieces of bacon strips are actually really good with it :P

 

 

Hedley, Nickelback, Marie Mai and Simple Plan performed too.

 

And while the flags and athletes were entering there was a french song being performed although I don't know by who.

 

- Nikki Yanofsky, Eva Avila (a Canadian Idol winner) and a male singer/guitarist also performed during the time the athletes were sitting down. The 3 of them were on individual raised platforms.

 

- I also felt the exact same emotion when they announced....."and from Montreal, Quebec......SSSSSimple Plan!!!". DAMN IT!!! LOL :pinch: :doh:

 

- My favourite Olympic segments were Michael Buble, Alanis Morissette and the "I Am Canadian" part where different celebrities came out. I actually thought Celine might be a part of it....because it's a speaking part & not singing :rolleyes: Although some people didn't like the Neil Young segment, I got teary-eyed when Jacques Rogge (president of the IOC) declared the Winter Games to be over and then Neil came out to sing the song & the flame got extinguished.... I was like :cry:

 

It is all over now!!!!! :down:
