Hedley, Nickelback, Marie Mai and Simple Plan performed too.

And while the flags and athletes were entering there was a french song being performed although I don't know by who.

There was the group "Kaïn" :hmm: at one point and also "La Bottine Souriante"

I won't go into every details here but I'll just say I was very disapointed with the closing ceremonie. I thought it was long and boring. I thought it was very much FULL of "clichés" with all those old symbol(won't enumerate here, there are too many) that don't tell much anymore about what we have become in 2010. :whistling: For example I can't stand to see those mounties anymore  , I don't identify at all with that. I didn't know we had all made love in a canoe either. :giggle: What was that all about anyway Captain Kirk? :giggle: I just hope the world doesn't think they saw a modern representation of Canada at this ceremonie.

To me, all the performances were not very well chosen for the event either imo, as everyone came to play their biggest or already old hit or a song that didn't fit well this event imo. Those french acts felt pretty much random to me. It looked more like a standard TV Special than an Olympic Closing Ceremonie to me. Apart from the fact that Québec(and the french-canadian representation and bilinguilism) was very much absent from the opening ceremonie, I preferred by far the opening ceremonie, that had at least more class and poetry for an Olympic Spectacle. Obviously both ceremonies won't be what I will remember from those Vancouver 2010 Olympics.

Nevertheless, I loved watching our athletes, their great performances, our first gold medal by Bilodeau and our last by Team Canada, the all-time Canadian 14 Gold medals win, some of those emotionnal moments(Rochette and others), the TV coverage both in french and english(RDS, V, CTV, NBC). I also loved to watch all those great athletes that came from everywhere in the world to show us the best of them, we saw olympic performances that aroused awe, astonishment, surprise, or admiration, a marvel!!!

I hope I didn't offend anyone by speaking my mind here but that's how I felt about it and again I hope that the world doesn't think watching this that it defined 2010 Canadians(of french culture at least) as I prefer to speak of what I know well.

Yes Kerche you're right, there are different toppings at La Banquise  and there's even "poutine au foie gras" for $23 at the "Pied de cochon" Restaurant. :giggle: But I doubt they serve one with long stripes of bacon on it.. .but who knows? I like mine the old fashion way though!! :thumbsup2:

Well I couldn't watch the Opening but I heard it had a concept and apart from French issue it was really nice, represented by every province. But I watched to Closing and for me it was like rubbish. It wasn't a spectacle at all. Every act was out of nowhere and it didn't have the bond. Because of this artistic chaos I haven't noticed any of the known stars. What's more, when they announced some band from Montreal and they sang in English?! Well it's nothing bad but after they sang they said merci and I was laughing hehe While all ceremonies are art this was like a circus/concert without plan
