Let’s think about this: you don’t make a huge, long trip from Los Angeles to Rio de Janiero and then do grueling concerts if you’re in the middle of a tricky pregnancy. So enough already with Mariah Carey-is-preggers-rumors. Poor Mariah. It was cold in Brazil. She wore a t shirt over her dress. She wore a sweater. But really, photos from her Rio shows only indicate that she’s got a flat tummy.

Mariah has been trying to get pregnant. She doesn’t need any stress from the tabloid press, believe me.

On the other hand, Mariah has been working hard in the studio with producer Randy Jackson. She’s even brought in an unusual collaborator: Broadway’s Marc Shaiman, who wrote “Hairspray” and dozens of hits. Shaiman is also a five time Oscar nominee. This is really interesting since Shaiman could be fashioning some colossal material for Mariah. Whoever came up with that idea was really thinking outside the box. Shaiman most recently worked with Bette Midler on a great song about late producer Arif Mardin which appears on an album called “The Greatest Ears in the World.” I wish more people could hear it.

Mariah told me in an email last week that Shaiman was her favorite collaborator since her days with Walter Afanasieff. “He’s so talented and can hear the chords in my head.”

If she is pregnant, Mariah is not saying. So let’s leave her alone until she’s ready. And hope her album is the breakthrough she’s aiming for.

I don't think her career is over, I just think she should work really hard and take the time and release something with real quality like the emancipation of mimi. A Christmas album for her seems like she's trying to hold onto something, it doesn't seem to fit in my opinion. If Celine was in the same position, I would think the same. I'd be excited for a Christmas album but I'd still consider it to be a desperate move.

Exclusive: Mariah Carey Christmas Album Title, Release Date Revealed

 

Mariah Carey may or may not be pregnant, but one thing’s for sure, she will be delivering a bundle of joy this holiday season. The sequel to the pop songbird’s Christmas album has been given an official title and due date.

 

Rap-Up.com has exclusively learned that Mimi’s upcoming holiday project will be called Merry Christmas II You. The II represents the follow-up to 1994’s multi-platinum Merry Christmas album, which spawned the now-classic “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” The new offering is scheduled for a November 2 release and will include original material as well as covers of holiday classics.

 

An accompanying DVD will also be released the same day, but there are currently no details on what exactly it will contain. The packaging was shot in the spring by famed photographer David LaChapelle and features a festive setting with fake snow, tinsel, and wooden reindeers.

 

Mariah’s manager Chris Lighty tweeted that she is working with the Home Shopping Network (HSN) to promote the project, which is guaranteed to be the perfect stocking stuffer.

MDJ Exclusive: New Christmas Song Titles Revealed

As we all know, Mariah has been hard at work on finishing up her brand-new Christmas album, reportedly titled Merry Christmas II You, which is scheduled to be released on Tuesday, November 2.

 

Last Friday night, August 27, Mariah had a big session with a full live band at Fox Studios in Los Angeles, California recording 5 holiday songs - 2 new and 3 traditional songs! Our reliable source tells us, "Mariah was very humble and thanked the band for their great work. At one point, she got up on the conductor's podium and playfully pretended to conduct the band."

 

Mariah Daily Journal is happy to exclusively reveal the titles of Mariah's two new and original Christmas songs, both co-written with Marc Shaiman of Broadway's Hairspray fame.

 

• "Christmas Time Is In The Air Again"

• "One Child"

 

"Chistmas Time Is In The Air Again" has been described to us as "a really nice mid-tempo number." Mariah was happy to be working with Marc Shaiman and said: "He's so talented and can hear the chords in my head."

Mariah has also been reported to be working with Brad Decher and Alan Menken. Dechter is a Jazz/classical composer. He arranged Josh Groban's Christmas album (which was a smash) and has collaborated with Marc Shaiman.

 

Alan Menken wrote the music for a lot of Disney movies like The Little Mermaid, Beauty And The Beast, Aladdin and Pocahontas and many more...

 

Maybe something good will come out of this album after all. Idk.. i don't want to get my hopes up.

Anyways, I'm really excited that she has distanced herself a little from the usual RnB producers and writers for this album. I do have my hopes high after seeing the names on the list. It's a very different approach for her and I think many fans, including me, who wanted her to go back to classic pop basics will finally get their wishes fulfilled, albeit in a Christmas album. For sure, it's gonna be under many xmas trees of my family this holiday season.

If Mariah albums sales were ''good'' then explain why Celine's Taking Chances outsold both E=MC2 and Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel combined together.

 

Oh and btw, the only reason why Mariah wouldn't sing a Celine's song is because she perfectly knows her rendition would suck vocally in comparison to Celine's version. Mariah is way too vain and fearful to attempt to cover a song from a big divas like Celine.
