^ yes yes yes! the free/bonus posters will arrive this Friday though so i only got the CD. have to keep my receipt for me to get the poster when it's already available. hate the packaging though. it's digipak just like Celine's Taking Chances so i had to buy an extra jewel case to store the disc and prevent it from being scratched. but we have 4 Obsessed remixes!

Btw I'm worried about the almost non-existing promotion... We have only The Today Show and The View... both on Friday which isn't the best day for TV. Kinda stupid. And the only promotional appearances being in the same day. And for the second week we only have an online streaming of one of the Vegas concerts which out have been cool if it didn't cost 8$. At least E=MC2 had good promo the first 2 weeks...

i know! i'm pretty nervous about her opening sales. with almost no promotion, Babs might end up hitting the #1 position next week, Mariah at #2 and Madge at #3.

... a letter from Ms. Choy of MCA Universal Music Philippines regarding some lambs' attitude when they failed to get the poster and the delay of the arrival of the CD's to some music stores.

 

 

MCA MUSIC (PHILIPPINES) SEEKS LAMBS' UNDERSTANDING

 

Hi everyone! It's Choy from mca music...I've gotten feedback from our team at the malls that SOME (not all) Mariah Carey fans created a scene yesterday because of their rage due to the absence of the album and poster...

 

For those concerned, may I please ask for your kind understanding that the first day of release means the FIRST DAY OF DELIVERIES It doesn't mean that on September 28, all albums will be on stores. This is a precautionary measure to avoid piracy because if we start deliveries before the release date, then chances are it might leak more massively (as if online piracy is not enough) and the actual CD's might be replicated illegaly. It is also against any record label's laws to deliver albums before it's official release date.

 

As for the posters, our suppliers were greatly affected by the storm. Some of the posters that were done already got wet. Some didn't finish. Some weren't delivered due to floods, etc. and the list goes on and on. We are trying our best to serve everyone's requests and utmost excitement for Mariah's album. Rest assured that all goes well despite this mishap. Please give us at least until next week to have the albums in stores.

Downloaded my pre-order on iTunes! Still love this album as much as the 1st time I heard it. The iTunes LP that comes with it has a Behind the Scenes of MOAIA video, and new pictures!

Mariah Carey, comedian? Jokes have never been Carey's forte, but on her 12th album, she gets in touch with her funny bone, adding a cheeky marching-band coda to the thumping club jam "Up Out My Face," threatening to out a cheating lover on national television in "Betcha Gon' Know" ("Oprah Winfrey whole segment, for real"); even poking fun at her own vocal signature, those stemware-shattering falsetto trills ("Love me down till I hit the top of my soprano," she coos in "More Than Just Friends"). The levity reflects the company Mariah is keeping: Every track on Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel was overseen by Carey and the ace duo of The-Dream and Tricky Stewart, who have been known to spice their dense, inventive R&B concoctions with yuks.

 

The result is Carey's most sonically and tonally coherent release, a mix of love ballads ("Inseparable") and sassy breakup anthems ("Standing O") that might have been her best album had it been several songs shorter. Memoirs sags in its second half, on songs such as the tepid "Impossible" and "Languishing (The Interlude)." By the time Carey's plodding cover of "I Want to Know What Love Is" rolls around, the joke's on her listeners.

The track Mariah did with Timbaland, Skydiving, is out. It's on some R&B mixtape, so that's why there are random DJ's speaking over it at times. Besides that, it's a really hot track!

PARAMORE GOES FOR TOP SPOT, MARIAH IN HOT PURSUIT

 

Fueled by Ramen Punk-Rockers Hold the Edge Over Diva in One-Day Returns

Paramore, the Fueled by Ramen punk-rock group whose 360-deal with WMG through Atlantic Records has proven a successful new model, look headed for a #1 debut on next week's HITS Album sales chart, based on one-day sales reports from those retailers who still take our calls.

 

Brand New Eyes, the third studio album from the band, fronted by lead vocalist Hayley Williams, takes an early lead in the race with a one-day sales total that projects to 180-190k for the week. That gives them the edge over Island/IDJ diva Mariah Carey's Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, which is now on target for 160-170k. With a question as to how front-loaded those sales for Paramore are, Carey could close the edge if she has a brisk weekend.

 

Those two are among the five top debuts next week, all registering in six-figures, including Columbia legend Barbra Streisand's Love is the Answer (150-160k), Hollywood rockers Breaking Benjamin (140-150k) and Virgin/EMI's retooled grunge gods Alice in Chains (130-140k).

 

Columbia Nashville country darling Miranda Lambert's Revolution heads the other newcomers, with a total approaching 65-75k.

 

WB Material Gal Madonna's Celebration greatest hits album is in the 60-70k range, as is Interscope goth-punks AFI's Crash Love.

 

Disney's latest Hollywood Records crossover cable TV teen star Selena Gomez & The Scene is looking at first-week sales of 50-60k.

 

Rock on Roll Hall of Famers Lynyrd Skynyrd's latest, God and Guns, on Roadrunner's Loud and Proud label, looks for an opening week total of 30-40k, same as Williams Street virtual death metal group Dethklok, from Adult Swim's animated Metalocalypse series.

 

American/Columbia Rick Rubin-produced roots rockers Avett Brothers round out the debuts with 25-30k for their major label bow, I and Love and You.

 

The market was down 4% vs. last week, down 7% vs. same week last year and still down 14% year to date.
