Yeah but ive also noticed in AND era, she held back and sang extremely nasally from 2003-2006 to try and preserve her voice along with the vegas weather and climate. But her TV appearances etc when shes not in vegas or on a break she sounded excellent. Like 2004 Performances of LCMM,Im alive,All the Way etc, and then her performance of ISSW on the tonight show..... she SLAYED ME. But in 2007 she was singing properly which actually.... makes sense considering they severely lowered the number of shows. Compare 2003 and 2007 If I Could and you will know what i mean

Still wish they’d released it , or at least part of it. When the 2007 show was being recorded and planned etc was really hoping that they’d include,as part of a bonus section, highlights from the run that wasn’t part of the 2007 concert. Songs like people have already mentioned, TFTEISYF (flying), WAWW etc. And yes, definitely the A Day In The Life Of too. The box set was great, the bonuses were great, but earlier songs that had been dropped was the only thing missing, from the actual concert perspective.

Is there a bootleg recording of EJTE? It's strange to me how the instrumentals are not different (especially the guitar adlibs at the start) and the "merci" at the end is exactly the same.

I also just noticed... the vocals on the recent "If I Could" video (the one from the Telethon) is also the exact same as on the CD.

 

Edit: Only the first half of the song is the same. The ending is slightly different.

 

I'm inclined to believe that some of the early performances that we have video for was also used and edited with other performances to create the live CD that we have... Would love to compare with more bootlegs though.

There's no doubt they used different performances for the live CD recording! It's impossible she sang that same day songs like I'm Alive and If I Could in that hideous way and then Et je t'aime encore or MHWGO with a much better voice.

I always wondered why they’ve cut so many songs for the CD release. There would’ve been space for more songs on the AND live CD.

You can say what you want about Mégo, but I think he did a great job on the interludes, such a shame A New Love was cut, though it is a bit (too) long for her not to be on stage.

 

I love the longer version of Ammore Annascunnuto, such a shame it got shorterend in the end. Wasn't IS also shorter? SM sounded great too, but i do love the add lips she did at the end of the run. But IMO SM was best to witness live. The DVD doesn't do justice at all.

 

I still don't know about EJTAE! it sounded the quite similar to the cd version of ANDLIL... but I dunno, as it's French she might be able to give a more spot on performance every time. What do you think?

It's a bit annoying that they only uploaded a 360p quality! I must say that I don't like the direction of this video. It's very Céline oriented, you don't really see anything that happens on stage. Such a shame! If this truely is from the Blond DVD, and the whole show was like this, then I'm not that mad about them not releasing it... (Although of course I would still love to see those initial AND... songs that were cut later).

Looking at Celine as she sings this song, and you can just tell that she wholeheartedly believes every single word she’s singing in this song. It’s lovely to see such a connection to a song in a performance; and I think this is one of the best.

Trust me its really not. Celines belting in this era was subdued and nasal due to her trying to preserve her voice. You can hear in AA or IFC that she was singing nasally and not using her full belting voice but then in EJTAE she can belt flawlessly with such power and strength ??? Nope sorry. Not to mention it isnt her tone that era, in the pre recorded track it was her prime tone, the less mature younger tone present in 1996 etc. Not representative of 2003 at all and you can hear tone descrepancies between the chorus thats live into the lipped climax. If you compare the bootleg (which does have sound discrepancy due to the fact that its not the best quality) and the CD they sound identical on the climax

Ive also compared it to another mid 2003 bootleg on YT and its identical too. Many people here also agree its identical.

 

 

As for your opinion that its from the dvd, that’s completely up to you to interperate but IMO regardless its lipped and thats evident when compared to other bootlegs.

I've always kinda been extremely interested in what is lipped and what is not, or at least I used to be, and I never noticed anything which could make me think EJTAE was lipped Also, if you think about it, Céline has rarely lowered the key of a french song live performance, as she never used a prerecorded track for a french song. There has been something done with zora zourit and with the latest french-leg tours (Le ballet), but I have always been really proud of her commitment to her french repertoire and to her french speaking audience, so I am quite confident about the authenticity of that very performance!
