Celine's comeback to Las Vegas - March 2011

I wouldn't even mind if she just sat on a stool and sang songs all night wearing jeans...but I don't think that's gonna happen in vegas!

 

Now that's an ansome idea... "Céline and the Stool" Unfortunately like you said it's not very likely that this ever will happen, and certainly not in Vegas

Well, the rumours about her getting pregnant are no rumours. She said herself for Paris Match that she already begun her treatment for IVF, to prepare her for getting pregnant right after the tour ends. If it will work this time around or not, no one can tell. As far as I know IVF doesn't really have high chances of succeeding, Celine was very lucky the first time.

 

We definately have to wait and see

 

I wasn't comparing her to Wayne Newton as a musical genre etc, but if she ends up playing in Vegas for some 10 years... You know what I mean?

Wayne is performing for more that 3 or 4 decades now and has made more that 25.000 performances. Don't know the guy very much but seems that they call him Mr. Vegas

 

When Céline goes back to Vegas it will be probably for a periode of 3 years... She's done allready about 700 shows in 5 years of time. Lets say they will add about 250 shows during those 3 years which will leave here on less than 1.000 performings.

 

Fact is that Céline and not Wayne Newton has given a serieus boost to Las Vegas and she is some sort of "Miss Vegas". What she has done was never done before and even after here it wasn't repeated after her...

 

Actually I think a second "Vegas tour" would be good for her career and her personal life (a lot of visitors, performing in a well known place, less stressfull than touring, etc...) but it would also be good for Vegas.

 

Anyway, if she does go back to Vegas, I hope they announce it early, so I can start saving money for the openning night (I saw the closing night of AND, it would be so cool to see the openning night of whatever new show she might be doing). But I'd still prefer her to tour. Or at least not start in Vegas until that 8 billion dolars project is finished, near Bellagio; judging by what I've seen it should be out of this world

 

If she goes back to Vegas I will certainly go to see her but I doubt it that it will be the first show. It will be probably sell out in no time and I actually like shows that run for some while above premieres... Although I never say no to an avant-premiere

People stop you in the street to have a little chat and find out where you're from and stuff like that. I really loved that about Vegas. Yes, I was talking about CityCenter, that huge 8 billion dolars project. I have to have something new to see in Vegas next time I go. Well, actually, you know what. I haven't been travelling too much, I've only been to Rome, Paris, Vienna and Las Vegas (outside my country), but I have to say Las Vegas has the best atmosphere yet. You're not the only one who haven't travelled to much I've only been in Belgium (my own country), The Netherlands, France, Germany, Luxemburg, Denmark, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Monaco, The United Kingdom (nearly my second home ) and the USA (Oakland, LA, San Francisco, Mamoth Lakes, Las Vegas and some national parks)... Hope to add Canada real soon (at least next year) and to go back to the US this or next year (in combination with Canada). Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, South Africa, New Zealand and Russia are also on my "to do list"

 

But back to Vegas:

 

 

In 2010, assuming the new show will start somewhere in that year (if it all continues) there will be plenty of new buildings arround in Vegas:

 

- MGM CityCenter is the largest project

- The Pallazo has opened recently this year

- Echelon, Fountainbleu and The Cosmopolitan will be nearly finished or even be open

- Caesars will have a new tower

- Encore at Wynn will be finished

- The Planet Hollywood towers will be there. Tower 1 finished and Tower 2 under construction

- The Trump towers...

 

 

All those and much more are under construction or have been build since the past 2 years... And a lot of projects are being reviewed or being approved to continue.

 

That's also a thing I like about Vegas... It's constantly changing...

 

The single thing I really hate about Vegas is the weather... I can't stand to high temperatures... Although it's not as though as here since the air is very dry in Vegas.

I'm kind of hoping she doesn't do Vegas again. Mainly due to her voice. Even with all of the saline treatment and stuff she did during A New Day, her voice still sounded nasally and not at top form when she was doing Vegas. Don't get me wrong, Celine on a bad day still sounds better than most artists on an amazing day, but I don't want her to hurt her voice or anything, or go there again so it'll sound like that. Maybe a show in New York would be better for her voice. It doesn't have to be as "showy" as A New Day was, a more intimite setting with a setlist of fan favorites and new arrangements for her old hits so they sound fresh. In the show, it'd be great if she added some more French songs, too, for oher Francophone fans. On the Taking Chances tour, the Francophone setlist was horrifying, so the least she could do is add some more French songs(and not Pour que tu m'aimes encore, Je sais pas, the big hits, etc). I'd be hery happy if she did a New York show, or even a Paris show(but as someone pointed out, it would be hard to do that so it'd be a smaller run than A New Day), just not Vegas. She NEEDS to have a 2 year break after the tour to rest her voice and have a baby. But after that I'd love to see her coming back to Vegas, but I hope she performs slightly less frequently than before so she can spend more time with her family and have time to promote new albums etc.

 

I hope she still keeps some classic songs (TPOL, IACBTMN, BYLM, MHWGO etc.), and also I think she should perform songs she has never sung before. There are loads of great songs from ATW, ANDHC & OH that she has never released or sung live before, and it would be great to hear her sing a couple of these too.

 

I hope she still sings IDAN and IA too. I hope she uses the big LED screen again and has lots of dancers like AND, and that she works with Dragone again. I'd like to see a more colourful, exotic show. I'd love see her sing ABM in Las Vegas, that would be great.

A 2 year break may be nice indeed. And for the rest I agree with your post, although the LED screen can better be replaced by a newer one. Maybe one from BARCO with Dual Pixel Technologie instead of the old Mitsubishi screen... The Mitsubishi screen was nice back in the "old days" but it is certainly outdated compared to newer screens.

I think Vegas could be very successful again......if done right......NEW show, new songs, great promo (Oprah again)

and less performances a year.....too tiring to do what she did before

 

Celine left vegas when she was in top form.....still selling out every night.....she'll definitely do that again, especially if shes only doing two or three shows a week, I mean Vegas is only growing and more and more people are going there,

 

I for one, didnt get to see her there and would travel all the way from Nova Scotia to see her this time.

Well it's only 6 songs out of 18 in AND, but those 6 are her most popular! They were live recordings originally though (she never lips from CD in concert).

You forgot "I Wish." That one was lipped as well.

 

(Also slated for Vegas is the extension of the monorail to and from the airport, and a new one on the west side of the strip - Monte Carlo, Caesars Palace, TI, etc.)

OMG! I would loooooove that. Seriously. Just her, the band and a few hundred people. Relaxed, casual, spontaneous...just having fun with it and sing songs that she personally likes, that might not necessarily even be her own and that AREN'T huge belting ballads with big notes. A little jazz maybe, some Beatles, or whatever else she feels like. Oh. *dreams*

Wow!!! I agree, DVDs are the only way for some of us to get to see Celine live

But I also hope for a show without that many songs a la Sinatra like "I've got the world on a string", "At last", "Fever" the duet with him or "I wish" by S.Wonder

If it happens, what about having like a lottery system of TC fans in the audience? They could have a list of songs on the screen behind that aren't going to be performed that night - songs that aren't the "normal" ones, and then they could choose a TC member in the audience by using some sort of lottery system or stopping a light on them, and then they get to choose the next song from the list??? What do you think?? Every few months they could change the list etc. Make the list via the TC website. I'd love to see that

Céline Dion est à nouveau courtisée par la direction du Caesars Palace de Las Vegas, qui espère retrouver la star sur les planches du Colosseum dès 2010.

 

René Angélil nous confirme la nouvelle. Las Vegas tente effectivement d'attirer la chanteuse : «Ils (la direction du Caesars Palace) souhaitent qu'on revienne pour une longue période de temps, admet l'impresario. L'offre est là.»

 

Selon M. Angélil, des discussions sont en cours et il y a une possibilité d'entente. «Mais pour l'instant, on se concentre sur la tournée et on veut aussi se reposer», ajoute-t-il.

 

Les cinq années passées par Céline Dion au Caesars Palace de Las Vegas ont bouleversé la strip. Jamais auparavant un chanteur ou une chanteuse n'avait relevé un tel défi à résidence, remplissant chaque soir une salle de plus de 4 000 sièges. Depuis son départ, la relève a été assumée par Cher, Bette Midler ainsi qu'Elton John, qui présentait déjà au Caesars Palace son spectacle lors des congés de Céline.

 

 

Pas surprenant que la direction de l'établissement relance la chanteuse, espérant qu'elle revienne s'installer sur place dans un avenir rapproché. Céline Dion a présenté son spectacle A New Day... à Las Vegas devant près de trois millions de fans depuis sa première, au mois de mars 2003. La production a permis d'amasser plus de 400 millions de dollars en offrant 717 représentations sur une durée exceptionnelle de cinq années.

 

Déjà, la rumeur de son retour court dans les publications de Las Vegas. On sait que le couple Dion-Angélil avait beaucoup apprécié sa vie en banlieue de Las Vegas au cours de son séjour et possède toujours sa résidence là-bas.
