Will Celine play the role of Maria Callas in a new movie?

I totally can see Celine doing this role. She has to prepare hard of course, but we all know that Celine works hard and she can do it. If Cher won an Oscar and Madonna did Evita :sick:

Why Celine can't do it? I hope it will come true :yes:

I think the nose is surely photshopped on this pic .

I think it's the eyes and cheek that makes them resemble eachother.

However the physical parts can they enchance with computer effects - Nicole Kidman had a computer nose to look more like Virginia Woolf in The Hours. The things I worry a bit about are: 1 the artistic ambitions with the film, 2 her acting.

In one of those interviews she said how she wanted to do a movie because she dreamed of winning an Oscar. That much about artistic ambition. Honestly, I think if she's got any ambition it's coming from her obsession with Maria Callas rather than wanting to be an actress. She doesn't want to be an actress, she wants to be Maria Callas. At least, that's the impression I have.

I wasn't talking about HER artistic ambition, coz that I don't doubt, I was talking about the artistic ambition of the film, the film makers...

Geez geez geez... I get more worried about this as news arrive...

I really have serious doubts Céline can pull this off. It really has to be very good and for that she needs to surround herself with the BEST coaches avaliable. Otherwise it's just gonna be considered pretentious of her and things can actually get worst if she insists on singing. She needs at least 2 years of INTENSIVE work to pull this off, and with a tour in between... I dunno... I just don't know.

I do not know If the character (Don't know Callas) is a native English speaker or not coz Celine's English is weird when she talks..

And her role won't be convincing ...... Don't you think so??

I think she can be pretty convincing and I also think that many people who don't know her as we do won't realize it's her until they see her name on the credits or something like this! In my opinion she'll act Callas perfectly.

Callas was born and raised in New York City. She's American with Greek parents. For Celine to be fully believable she'd have to learn to speak with an American accent. Otherwise it won't work. To make a biopic the actor has to not only learn how to act but to physically embody the character. Think Marion Cotillard in La Vie En Rose. I'm afraid Celine won't be able to pull the accent off.

Being passionate and working very hard has nothing to do with being able to adapt different accents. Some people have it and some don't... just like singing. Wee see British actors doing American accents all the time with no problem ad others not being capable of pulling it off at all. Think Nicole Kidman. The woman is a great actress but she can't do accents at ll. She tried in a few movies and it didn't work. And because Celine only learned English later on in her late teens, she's never been capable of sporting an American accent.

I think it's way too specific of a character for her to take on. She could play a fictional character and that would be okay to have her current accent. But to play a real person, she'd have to have the accent spot on.

Be interesting to see how it goes......who else will be in it ..director etc.

she will work at it for sure cos the project is close to her heart....and a clever director good script and support cast it could be good...but if it all rests on celine shoulders it wont work ....it has to be the sum of all parts!! and i hope she gets full support in it or it could be embarassing.....hopefully sony will have zero involvement!!!! :laughing:

do u think the sound track would be like Edith Piaf's movie? the songs r all original....

so that means the songs they would use the original songs that sang by Maria

or do u think it would be like a cover album that Celine record Maria's songs

I doubt she'd ever be as good as Fany Ardant and the movie will ever be better than Zefirelli's movie about Callas. But it's still Celine and I still adore La Callas, the one and only diva, so I'm not gonna miss it.

And, by the way, Callas was also an American native speaker, because she was born and raised in NY. So, yes, she had two native tongues - English and Greek. And she also spoke perfect French and Italian. Died unhappy from a broken heart in her huge maison in Paris.

Maria Callas spoke with an accent, although it is not really definable. She was born in NY but spent her teen (and early career) years in Greece and Italy. If you listen to her speak it sounds like she is trying to hide perhaps a Greek accent with a British accent. Youtube Maria Callas interview and you will see what I mean.
