Will Celine play the role of Maria Callas in a new movie?

why should u be crucified? u r entitled to ur opinion, and ur opinion sure makes a lot of sense. but celine's warm up is not at all falsetto and callas was a dramatic mezzo soprano, which made her ability to sing soprano roles all the more amazing. if u don't believe me then listen to what her contemporaries and professionals said about her voice.

and it was a pity she lost her voice so early. many blame it as well on her weight problems (added together with her technique), but no matter what, her voice at its peak was unparalleled (in the opera world)!!!

She said in so many interviews lately that this project will come alive, but it's not for next year, or even the year after. It's something they've been working on for some time and will be working on for sometime to come. She said herself in one of the interviews and she's taking acting lessons and she also said she will try to sing opera herself and if that doesn't work out they will modify her voice on the computer, because, you know "with the technology these days anything's possible" :giggle:

But I have no doubts Celine can sing opera herself, with a little serious training. Let's not forget her first voice trainer, when she was 14 was an old opera teacher. The technique is familiar to Celine for a long time, she needs some practice. I cannot wait to see her on the big screen, I think she did an amazing job on Les Fleurs sur la neige now she's taking acting lessons so her acting can only get better. But I don't think this will happen sooner than 2010. But that's fine, I want them to take their time and make a good movie, than hurry into it and make a medium-quality movie (i can say bad movie, cause Celine will be in it, so it can't be bad!).

People, is it useless discusing about this topic now. :ermm:

I don't really think it's gonna happen so soon. Celine has already said she would rather have another baby after her World tour. Then, only after having a second child, she would consider the possibility of playing a role on a movie.

Rene also said a new baby is their priority... :clap: :kicking: :clap: :clap:

So, why should we keep discussing about it?? LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL :doh: :doh: :doh:

If she plays this role, it will be 3, 4 years from now... we shouln't care about it so much, not by now hehehe

WOW! I am so excited!

Celine has been classically trained, so there is no doubt she can do it.

She didnt want to do Vegas after she has Rene Charles, and wanted to cancel, but as Celine said - Once she has started something, she has to finish it- so Im sure she will put her heart and soul into it!

Why not talk about it...it's so much fun!! Celine has some experience with acting already, and I'm sure all of you would agree that any performer...singer, comedian, magician even...is an actor. They are up in front of an audience entertaining and keeping our attention. You can't keep the attention of an audience without acting.

I think all you naysayers will be pleasantly surprised if this ever comes to fruition. Celine only over acts at times in order to entertain during interviews, etc, and most likely because she is a natural actress bursting to get out and show us what she can do. But she really is one of the most down-to-earth people there is despite her huge success, so I can see her natural talent and beautiful personality shining through to pull off a brilliant performance. And as far as the opera singing goes, Celine can most definitely pull it off if it is want she wants to do and if she takes the time to train for it. I think many of you would agree that Celine's voice is a gift from God, and we will never know what she's capable of doing until she proves it to us.

So my advice to all those who are worried is: Stop...take a deep breath, have faith in the one you love, support her with all you heart; because when it comes down to it, Celine and Rene won't sign on to any project unless they are absolutely sure that it will be a hands-down success.

I really do hope though that they take time to expand their family and live a little more "simply" for awhile before going on to the next project after the world tour. They have given us so much over so many years and we should appreciate it by giving them a break.

I love celines voice and think its one of the best in the world but i just heard maria callas on youtube and its going to be very hard for celine to sing like that? will she be singing in the role i presume, well obviously lol. The notes are very high in full voice and i dont think celine will be able to do it, then again they said madonna couldnt sing evita and she did.

I cant wait to see celine in movies it will just add to her superstardom and success

There is no doubt she could sing the part. Acting the part is what has me worried.

true, i agree with the singing part because she's proved that she can sing opera on the album D'elles...the last part of La Diva :doh:

but i'm not worried about her acting because she will not play as herself. no doubt she'll take on the role of Callas well, but it's when she's portraying herself she's comes off not natural, its too real, especially on shows (the nanny, all my children...ect. although i'm not trying to compare shows with a big television production, but its what we've seen so far)

For a few weeks Ive been hearing rumors about Celine portraying Maria Callas on screen. I found an article in DN (Swedens most circulated daily newspaper) where Celine confirmed/talked about the project.

Celine said (apprehensively) that the project is approx three years into the future, and that she several times has been asked to be photographed as Callas, especially by Karl Lagerfeldt.

The acting worries me a bit though, but you never know, she might do a Cher, turn out to be a better actress than singer...hmm could that be possible?

A Maria Callas movie - that could be anything. Whenever you hear her life story it has been made into this legend stuff, it could be a Greek tragedy. There are so many aspects of her life, her career that could be the basis for yet another Callas movie. I'd say if it's some sort of boring from "she was born in NY" to "and she died and left her legacy blabla" biopic, it has to be really good to compete with what's already out there. I think a movie that picks out a certain aspect of her life could work great, like her relation with Onassis.

This is cool! She has wanted this for a long time, so I think it would be good for her. like Tal said I hope its a good production and not just another Lifetime movie :giggle:

As for the classical singing I tend to agree that it would take a lot of training and muscle re-configuration, I was a vocal performance major in college and I was taught strictly classical. Now that I`m trying to cross over into pop, its very difficult! I have to learn to sing in a completely different way. So I would imagine it would be tough for her, but she works really hard, so she can do it

Wow thank you! I do not expect to find any Swedish covarage of the TC era since the promo here has been almost unnoted.

DN is the most respectable daily newspaper here, the article speaks very positive about her, and the line about the movie are:

She says that she finally feels as if she gotten control over her life, that it she no longer feels as if she's being tossed from one thing to the other without really knowing why, but now she wants to go on. A bit reluctant at first she tells she's aiming at the silver screen and that she can see herself winning an Oscar.

- It is no empty dream but a plan, she says seriously and tells that the film project is about two three years from now and that she will play the opera singer Maria Callas, whose life has always fascinated her.

Many, among them the fashion creator Karl Lagerfeldt, has wanted to photograph her as Callas.

- When I hear that I understood: it was Maria Callas who spoke to me, says Dion.

I congratulate Céline to fulfulling this dream, and whish her the best of luck with her acting. :flowers:

I hope she gets the best of training and education the following years, and keep the yes-sayers as far away from her as possible - this is a heavy role for anybody, especially a beginner. She should be really honered she's been given this opportunity, I guess the one standing in line as second could only be Meryl Streep herself.

Ineed, Céline can sing as no other, and that is natural why she's been given this kind of role, even though its magnitude is somewhat huge. It fits - a legend playing a legend.

All I hope is that she gets the best of the best when it comes to education, and experience, and that the yes-sayers keep their distance - big time (they can really blow it for her this time).

Overall, I am glad for her! :clap:

That is fantastic news she always wanted to play her and didn't she say she wants her own oscar so who nows what might happen at the next oscars next year. Fingers cross I will deffiantly be goingto see it allot of times when it comes in theathres, But I think we all be seening it alot times as well. :clap:
