carys Posted November 14, 2007 at 07:47 PM Posted November 14, 2007 at 07:47 PM What an unbelievable show. I'm so incredibly jealous of those at the show, and those who recieved a Celine Surprise. Looked amazing, and so emotional at times! It was so nice to hear her singing live after a number of shows when she's mimed. Just reassures you that she's still got it! Part 4 with everything about her father had me bawling my eyes out. And i'm not normally even a crier! That show the day she lost her father must have been unreal. When she was singing What a wonderful world and she was just sobbing, it was heart breaking for me, and i'm just watching it on a video. It says so much about Celine's character, and devotion to her fans, that she went on that night when she was so raw and opening grieving for her father. I'm just in awe of Celine all together. She's an incredible person, there's absolutely no doubt about that. Quote

firebird Posted November 14, 2007 at 09:19 PM Posted November 14, 2007 at 09:19 PM But you can't compare songs that she has sung more than a thousand times (it's like breathing for her now) with the ones she has never sung LIVE before.Sure I can, and I wasn't talking about the singing, I was talking about the whole performance. She can hit the right notes, great. Doesn't really matter. What I'm talking about is the whole performance. She's been debuting new songs for quite a long time. She knows how to make a great first impression. This wasn't. The impression here was more like she knows how to sing, but she's never been on a stage. Hesitant and quite amateurish. She doesn't need to sing a song a hundred times to get it straight on stage, she's been there before. She's a professional performer. Just watch her sing PQTME the first time on Nul Part Ailleurs - totally different. That's a great first impression in my eyes. Quote

Mozinha Posted November 15, 2007 at 04:01 AM Posted November 15, 2007 at 04:01 AM I haven't had the time to download yet but I found the video about her father's death and her performance. And I wish I had never seen it. Oh my goodness. I was all teary from the first second but when I saw her on her knees singing and sobbing I just lost it completely. Oh dear, when she said "Je t'aime papá" it just hurt so bad. Poor Celine. Speaking from my own experience, when you lose your father it's like feeling alone in the world, completely unprotected, as if you're a child again and you have no one to look after you. Of course this feeling fades away but then it hits you it's just... OVERWHELMING. Poor Celine. Poor darling. From what I hear, there’s no way to understand that pain unless you’ve been there. Seeing Céline like that nearly shattered my heart. How did she even get through that show - seriously? You see the clip of her from the beginning - then WAWW at the end. How did she get through the dance numbers? I envy her strength. Quote

smw Posted November 15, 2007 at 06:52 AM Posted November 15, 2007 at 06:52 AM This show is exactly what I needed. I expect amazing things from Oprah and that's exactly what I got. I'm so happy she sang bits of so many songs. I would've loved a French one - there were a lot of predictable requests...but that's expected, I suppose. I love how Oprah creates an environment for Celine - and it's a pleasure to witness. Celine sounded very nice! And the part about her Father was so emotional...and raw...and real. As sad as it was, it's good for the mass public to see that side of her. It's a side WE as fans know exists, but a lot of people don't get to see that side of Celine. Quote

Teodora Posted November 15, 2007 at 12:39 PM Posted November 15, 2007 at 12:39 PM I cried my eyes off during this show! Especially when they showed that footage from the show where she told people her father had died. I think Celine was never as much of a true artist as she was that night. A true artist can only deal with everything in live through their art. She was there, on the floor, crying her heart out and trying to sing... I was just blown away. It's an image I'll never forget. Even Rene was in tears... The whole show was great. She sounded great, look great, she was cute, and funny and emotional and everything in between. Thank you for the videos! Quote
