New English Album PREVIEW Review

it seems more and more as if they just took various songs that were previously recorded and most of them were never hits and decided to put them all on the album....i expected much more this time

the songs might be great but what does it say about their attitude? basicly celine never worked with all of those producers that were mentioned - she just took songs they recorded with other artists , songs that flopped , and recorded them again...i dont know what to think

her last real and full english album was in 2002 - it's so sad they r so careless musicly and artisticly when it comes to her english career...

Her last full Engish albm was in 2002?? You mean "A New Day Has Come"?? Sorry to break it to you party pooper but on that album there were a total of 6 covers (including 1 adaptation of her own French song):

It's no secret that Celine loves to do covers. They are mainly unknown to the general public.

WOW I'm very excited about this album thank you for those reviews

 

About the covers well I have two thoughts:

 

1)I don't care because it's about the songs if they are good who cares it's a cover all Celine albums have covers so..

 

2)On the other hand this album was brought two us as new and all those good producers who are working on it you would think someone like Timbaland would give her something origanal instead as it looks now he gave her a leftover and that is what's bothering me. Maybe she didin't even worked with him and he just gave her the song, but that is something we will know when the album comes out if there are images of Celine and Timbaland in the studio.

 

 

As it looks now it will probably be my favorite album I love the fact that it will be rockier

I keep hoping that any day now tc will post a 30 sec clip of taking chances or give us more info. on the album......

But I think, they will wait until the press conference in the middle of september, when everything is finalised and announced.

Then release some footage from the press confrence on tc, then maybe give us a sample of a song after that.

 

I was looking at Celines schedule for september, shes off on the 10th for a week, and as someone said the press conference for the album/world tour is to be on the 15th, and I guess she will either do a photoshoot for the album cover/sleeve or film the first video if she hasn't already!!

 

September is gonna be a great month, I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!

And with that I want to show how easy it is to spread rumours about covers... Wait and listen first.

But knowing that none of the songs were finalized (mix wise), maybe they'll take note and amp it up a little so it doesn't sound out of place. Maybe not. Anyways, that singer is not known outside Denmark so I highly doubt anyone would've heard that song before unless they live in Scandinavia. Just a guess.

 

And it doesn't bother me either that she does cover songs... just not too many, whether the song is previously known or not.

 

Looks like only Alone is a very well known song among all of the covers she's planning to release. To me that's acceptable... sort of!

 

I just hope that Eyes On Me is not the same song that Samantha Jade is about to relase on her debut album. That would mean Timabaland has served Celine some leftover and that I don't particularly like.

 

At least the Ne-Yo and R. Kelly songs are originals

So I know they won't change things at this point, but wouldn't it make the most sense for the first single to the Ne-Yo or R. Kelly song? Given the airplay of the recent singles she has released, who is to say a lot of radio stations will look at it and say, ok...its another Celine Dion song, who cares, why play it? (besides her fans of course)

 

So 99.9% of radio stations will play something from R. Kelly or Ne-Yo...if they FIRST released the song with one of those guys, the radio stations wouldnt have any problem playing the song, even if Celine is in it, because it also has one of the other guys.

 

If the song is successful, people that got tired of Celine back before her break, may kind of turn their head and take a second look. This would open up the door for her to get more airplay on songs that will be released after the first single and more popularity.

 

Just a thought.

 

Well yea, that's pure marketing, it is a wonder why the Céline team seem to be ignoring the simple facts of marketing. But perhaps TC wont be the first single, perhaps Kara's site was a bit over enthusiastic there...

I have heard Right Next To The Right One before, don't know if it's been on radio or TV (performance, commercial or as music to some sort of series). It's a nice song. Not super, but it ain't bad. I'm looking forward to hear Céline's version, I imagine something similar to Stand By Your Side.

Alone: YES THE HEART COVER. I have to be honest I love this freaking song, so I was super freakin excited to see the title and hoped it would be the same song. When the intro started, I sure knew. I have to say it's pretty much a copycat of the original, vocal wise. Celine sung it the same as Ann Wilson did, including the adlibs and everything.

 

i hate it when celine covers songs in which the result is almost identical to the original even the ADLIBS! where's the originality there and whats the point? and please, enough of the covers, i don't want her to be known as cover queen.

 

having this kind song comments make me a little less excited about the album but i'm still hoping that i'll be surprised with this new release.

what's funny about you people complaining is that if you really think about it, every song that every artist has ever recorded (if not written by the artists themselves) are covers, they are written and recorded for demo first and then the artists record them..so if you want to get technical, every artist does covers on every CD....give Celine a chance already, I'm so sick of coming onto these forums and seeing an album ripped apart at the seams 3 months before it even comes out based on a review (a wonderful review i might add) by someone that has only heard 1 minute clips of each song. just cut the crapola already and wait and see what kind of album Celine produces for us this time and stop the b*tc*ing and complaining and be excited that we are getting something new from Celine whether it be covers or not. Now I really have to agree...besides, most things she's covered no one has ever even heard of. Honestly, until reading the forum, I never knew just how many of her older songs were covers and I consider myself to be pretty knowledgeable on her music.

 

So here's the deal...if I, as a Celine fan didnt know, really most of the general public isn't gonna know. I really don't think it'd hurt her creditability at all.

 

I don't have a problem with what she decides to sing, I wanted a new Celine Dion album...I am getting that.

I wanted hype about it to get people interested...that seems to be happening, too.

I want her to be as big, if not bigger than she was pre-December 31, 1999...and well, that remains to be unseen, but I am still hoping.

 

With all that said though, you know that Celine and Rene have to have tons of songs sent in to them that have never been recorded and you also know they could afford to hire whoever they wanted to write and produce an album. Before the next statement, let me say I am not complaining at all...I am very much looking forward to "Taking Chances," but Celine Dion has sold more albums than anyone else in the world (I know there is debate about that), she also is very well respected by many many people and has a voice thats unlike ANYONE else...so why aren't they doing stuff that hasn't been done before. It doesnt really make sense.

Listening to that album, I didn't even realise any of these songs were covers. I just wish they had've put down the songwriters names, some did somehow seem familiar to me...

I'm not being funny but why shouldn't Diane Warren, or any songwriter come to think of it, demand royalities. It's their work that they have spent ages trying to create and it's only fair, in my opinion, that they ask for some return especially if it goes on to become a worldwide smash. Some of Celine's biggest hits have been Warren penned tracks and personally I feel they've been a bit silly to decide she's not worth working with anymore.

You didn't like ANYTHING? Well if you don't recognize her 'old style' in this that should be a good thing for me I guess, to me it sounds very promising that it's nothing like the past, we have 25 years and 25+ albums of that 'old style' and when I listen to Falling Into You yes it was technically and vocally perfect and it's still one of my favourites but now I 10.000 times rather hear her sing with the depth and growth of her personality of today. I think her voice is even more beautiful now then it was 10 years ago...

But honestly... Do you expect Celine to be completely the same her entire life - music wise?

 

There's got to be some sort of change along the road otherwise people will start to grow out of her music. People tend to get bored. She's has to adapt to the music industry... Much like how we adapt to changes in our everyday lives. Things such as a child's first day at school - letting go isn't easy, but if you really love that child with all your heart, you'll know that it's the best thing for them.

 

Switching up style of music is the best thing for Celine to do with all the other artists competing against her. She may lose SOME fans, but that's the way it is. We all know Celine will never try to let her fans down. She's throwing in some classic Celine stuff on the new album, right? So it's not like she's trampling all over sappy ballads and jumping into slammy jammy rocky stuff. She's just upping the ante. If you ask me, I have complete confidence in her. I think she'll do an amazing job.

And sooooo happy for me! Thanx God she changed her style! Sounds like we have an evolution in her songs. That pop/rock album is all that I've been waiting for so long. When you say that this album doesn't have her old style, I just can't say "Amén!". Thanx God! I just can't wait to listen to this woman that now has something new to show us.
