CelinesDIVO5 Posted January 15, 2025 at 05:45 AM Posted January 15, 2025 at 05:45 AM Sat down and listened to this album from start to finish. It still holds up. Truly one of her best albums. The production and her vocals are 10/10. For me, it would be a perfect no-skip album were it not for "A Song For You" - to me, it's the odd one out in the tracklist. Even with ASFY, I don’t skip. I love every song on the album. Some a little more than others of course, but it’s an absolute no skip for me. 1 Quote https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PL54qnRGM2gMatthew Charles - "Fix You" - Live at The Stonewall InnStonewall Sensation - Season 15Originally written and performed by Coldplay

Celine Fan 77 Posted January 16, 2025 at 02:54 PM Posted January 16, 2025 at 02:54 PM Shadow of Love should definitely have been a single with a music video. It’s not among my favorite songs but I have to admit it has so much potential. 3 Quote Tournée Européenne in Paris (December 1, 2013)Céline Dion Live 2016 in Antwerp (June 20, 2016)Céline Dion Live 2017 in Birmingham (July 27, 2017)

DCCeline Posted January 17, 2025 at 01:06 PM Posted January 17, 2025 at 01:06 PM I find Eyes on Me a bit cringe. At least sung by Celine. It's catchy though Nothing was going to be a hit besides TC because it was a first single. Even Fade Away which I love is a carbon copy of Kelly Clarkson cerca 2004. A bit outdated in 2007 Quote
comingback Posted January 17, 2025 at 01:23 PM Posted January 17, 2025 at 01:23 PM Taking Chances is not a bad album, but yes it's sounds like a Kelly Clarkson copy in 2007. She had Rock-Pop songs on her French albums (Incognito 1987), but the problem is that she sounds fake on some songs on Taking Chances (I Can't Fight The Feeling for example) and people want the Pop-Ballad Queen Celine. singles:Taking ChancesFade AwayAlone 1 Quote

ordinary fan Posted January 17, 2025 at 08:39 PM Posted January 17, 2025 at 08:39 PM I listen to this album quite often on Spotify and YouTube, I only scip I've got nothing left most of the time. It's quite a good song though but I don't like that seemingly higher pitched voice. It would be really one of my favourites of this album if it was with her real voice. Taking chances, shadow of love, alone, fade away, my love, this time, can't fight the feeling are really standouts for me 1 Quote

A bit outdated in 2007 Kelly had one her biggest hits with "Stronger" in 2011. Same recipe. So FA was not outdated in 2007. It's typical 2010s pop/rock sound. It's all because it is/was Céline who combine poor label back up and radio support... "My love" could have been a hit as well. This kind of piano driven songs were successfull at that time, especially in Europe ( James Blunt, James Morrison, etc). 1 Quote
LukeD Posted January 17, 2025 at 10:40 PM Posted January 17, 2025 at 10:40 PM (edited) The album is average. To me, the most flawed one she has ever released. I have to delete several songs to make it coherent. 'New Dawn', 'A Song For You', 'A World To Believe In', 'Right Next To The Right One' have no place in a pop/rock album. 'Skies of L.A.' is quite boring too. They played it safe adding all these tracks - they clearly meant to satisfy the 'adult contemporary' fanbase, an approach which came at the expense of internal consistency and overall edginess. The other tracks, plus the bonus ones work much better to produce an album that is edgy and therefore different to anything Celine had put together by that point:Taking ChancesAloneEyes On MeMy LoveShadow Of LoveSurprise SurpriseThis TimeThere Comes A TimeCan't Fight The FeelingI Got Nothing LeftFade AwayThat's Just The Woman In MeMap To My HeartThe Reason I Go OnSee? Wish they had really taken chances! That said, there are some excellent songs like 'My Love', 'Taking Chances', 'Surprise Surprise', 'This Time', 'Fade Away' that add so much to her catalogue! Wish they had made better use of them. 'Alone', 'Eyes On Me', 'Shadow Of Love', 'Map To My Heart', 'The Reason I Go On' are solid too. They way I feel about this album is that it is wasted potential. This was the third instance where I felt her recording career lacked a clear direction, after recycling songs for 'One Heart' and then releasing an album of lullabies in 2005 that seemed so out of touch with the contemporary music scene. And things were just as bad with 'Loved Me Back To Life' that was another mixed bag of an album where modern songs clashed with the likes of 'Overjoyed'. But anyway, it is what it is. Overall, a solid album I'd say. Edited January 17, 2025 at 10:44 PM by LukeD 2 Quote
Állex Sodi Posted January 17, 2025 at 11:20 PM Posted January 17, 2025 at 11:20 PM Definitely my favorite album overall. Along with Deux, it’s the only one where I don’t skip a single song. The problem, as someone mentioned earlier, is that it sounded a bit dated—more like something from 2004. By 2007, R&B was dominating the charts. Something like Eyes on Me could have performed much better, if it had been promoted properly. Quote

While it may have been rushed to be put together to coincide with Vegas and Chrysler, I think it’s actually one of her most current, if not most coherent English album. The whole track list is very well put together. Whereas ANDHC was nice, it was definitely a mosh mosh of styles. OH is a very solid pop record. Although ANDHC songs were recycled (for business reasons), they still fit the album. And HYEBIL became another big AC hit for her. 4 Quote https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PL54qnRGM2gMatthew Charles - "Fix You" - Live at The Stonewall InnStonewall Sensation - Season 15Originally written and performed by Coldplay

Totally, completely different. When we all heard "Stronger" back in 2011, we all were like " omg who is that newcomer with this brand new sound never heard before ?". But anyway, I 100% prefer Celine who might play around and try to "duplicate" someone's else sound on 1 song than giving us the same songs on every albums. Quote

I only said it constitutes the first instance where I felt her recording career lacked a clear direction. This is not to say the album is bad. Or that I hate it. I think it is average and I enjoy it from time to time. Some excellent tracks like 'I Drove All Night', 'Naked', 'Reveal', 'Je T'aime Encore'. Plus the vocals were incredible. In terms of the overall direction though, I think ANDHC deserved a lengthier lifespan. And then I think OH deserved to have new songs only and be promoted accordingly. We would then have a chance to see some interesting single releases like 'Reveal' or 'Naked' that would clearly contribute a lot more to her singles discography than HYEBIL that, at the end of the day, is still another Celine Dion ballad. Besides, that song could have been used to promote ANDHC which links to the point I made above regarding this album and its short commercial cycle. To me, the last instance when they did things right developing an album was ANDHC. After this, I have serious criticisms. 1 Quote
Shaun Posted January 18, 2025 at 11:44 AM Posted January 18, 2025 at 11:44 AM Yup the “One Heart” album is one of my favourites too and I listen to it frequently. “Taking Chances” is definitely a mixed bag for me. I’m still we gutted we got a tour for that album and not ANDHC/OH to be honest. I need to get over it haha. I must also be one of the few fans who cannot stand “That’s Just The Woman In Me.” An absolute must skip for me. Rene was right to not let her record it all those years until Celine eventually put her foot down haha. 1 Quote Bringing you the world's only Celine Dion podcast show since 2014.Find us on Soundcloud, Apple Podcasts, Spotify & Amazon Music.

Courage is definitely a more developed and coherent album than LMBTL, TC, and OH. It's the vocals/enunciation and production that are lacking. 2 Quote

comingback Posted January 18, 2025 at 04:29 PM Posted January 18, 2025 at 04:29 PM (edited) Why didn't they record more modern songs for LMBTL? I'm sure SIA would have written more songs for Celine. She is an amazing songwriter and loves Celine. It would have been a great album. TC has some great songs, but the whole edgy/Rock/Pop direction is not my cup of tea. Yes, I know Celine loves Rock and that she is a secret Rocker. Courage was a mess production and pronunciation wise (that's why it's my least favorite), but the direction (modern songs like on LMBTL) was right. Abodi2002 Posted January 18, 2025 at 06:21 PM Posted January 18, 2025 at 06:21 PM I enjoy TC as an album overall. Like many have pointed out some changes could have been made but I feel like Taking Chances and Alone were the only songs that got much promotion. Everything else was just kinda left behind until the tour. I actually don't find her pronunciation on Courage album as bad as some are making it out to be... However there are some exceptions, like For The Lover That I Lost, Baby, and heart of Glass. How Did You Get here has a couple pronunciation issues too. However I feel like we got a lot more vocally out of that album compared to some prior. Taking Chances has a lot of great vocals as an album too. She also began using a lot more low notes than even LTAL era. 1 Quote
