15 years ago Celine released the Taking Chances single/video.

oh wow, I can’t believe it’s been 15 years!!! I remember going to my local Media Markt buying the physical CD single. Back then they constantly played the song on Bayern 3. That was cool :) Edited by ryba

The official audio of “Map To My Heart” and “Taking Chances (i-Soul Extended Remix)” have both been uploaded to Celine’s official YouTube channel:

I wish Map To My Heart was selected to be on the original release. It’s one of her best vocal deliveries during those sessions.

Agreed. I’ll take “Map To My Heart” over “Right Next To The Right One” any day of the week.

I love Right Next To The Right One! I’d maybe trade Fade Away for MTMH. It’s a good vocal delivery but it always reminded me of a Kelly Clarkson song.

A Song For You is the song that bothers me most on Taking Chances. I like the song a lot. But it drives me nuts because Celine had the potential to delivery a gorgeous vocal on it… but they really needed to have her do more takes.

I also think The Reason I Go On should’ve made the cut.

I'd trade This Time and Right Next To The Right One for Map To My Heart and The Reason I Go On on the standard edition. Actually, I'd trade A Song for You for Let Me Be Your Soldier as well. (Which was the original title and so much better than There Comes A Time).

I will never understand why Fade Away was not a single. It’s one of the very best songs on the album, imo even stronger than TC. It would smash the radio stations. Edited by ryba

It's pretty wild it's been 15 years already. I just wanted to share my version of the cover that I've used all these years that I made for my Japanese version of the album. I remember thinking I wanted to add a little bit more color to it. I like the muted colors, but the original is a little too bland.

I still think it looks better than the original actually. (Don't zoom in too much though, there will be some artifacting going on)

I still hope they'll release the unedited versions of this photoshoot.

This was the latest Celine album back when I became a fan in early 2009, so it holds so many personal memories. Definitely one of my favorites!

Yeah apart from my very first album (my love essential collection) this album and loved me back to life were the first two studio albums I bought and discovered from her :) then one album lead to the next one... ;)

how did you become her fan in 2009? Was it because of a particular performance you saw etc? I’m just asking because 2009 is an interesting year, she didn’t really have new music out. Edited by ryba

Does anyone know if "The Reason I Go On" is available in the U.S. from any store or music service? (or perhaps I need to use a VPN).

It was actually thanks to the A New Day... DVD. I randomly watched the performance of MHWGO on YouTube and instantly fell in love with her! Fortunately, her time off until 2011 allowed me to catch up with most of her career and discography :)

Cool to read! I became a fan in 1995 after Think Twice hit number one over here. Nice to read she still gets ‘recent’ fans after her prime!

It's fun to read when people became fans.

My mom used to wake me up for school with the Celine Dion album in 1992. It was so calm and soothing... and then... BOOM... Love Can Move Mountains!

I remember she also had the Unison album. Then I morphed into a fan myself shortly thereafter. Crazy to think how many years it has been.

The Celine Dion / The Colour of My Love albums are the soundtrack to my childhood. Along with Mariah's Music Box album.

I also vividly remember going to see the Let's Talk About Love tour in Nashville in 1998. Celine was so iconic at that time. I can still remember how special it felt to be there, and I remember how Celine made everyone laugh.

My mom also took me to see A New Day... in Vegas for my high school graduation gift. Love Can Move Mountains has remained our family song over the years.

I had briefly been a fan around 1997-2001. Kinda lost track of her after that. Then I was completely turned off by the whole Anne Geddes project (which I still hate with a passion lol).

Then fell back in love with her around 2015/2016. Saw her for the first time in Antwerp 2016 and - as Céline would say- "the rest is history"...

When I was a little kid I only knew Mhwgo and I was absolutely in love with the song, but I didn't think about anything else from her career, other songs, albums etc. Then with the age of 13, I wanted to explore more songs from Celine, so my parents bought me the my love essential collection ( 2 CD's) and I absolutely fell in love with it. Then in the same year lmbtl came out and this was the very first studio album which I bought, then all her other english albums followed. With her french discography it was kinda the same, shortly after lmbtl I bought on ne change pas and then the rest of her french albums. And both times I first bought the albums with the least songs on the best of collections, to get to know more "new" songs from her faster. Then when I had all her studio albums, I started to explore her live albums, the taking chances world tour dvd (english) was the first "live show" I watched... ;) basically with every new detail I got to know of her career work, her personality during interviews etc it made me even more a fan and loving her  . For me it was good that she was on a break from summer 2014 until summer 2015 so I had plenty of time to keep up with her career. 2016 in Antwerpen, it was my first live show ever and that it was Celine, made it even more special than it already was

For me PQTME did the trick. My mom had a lot of music and one of the songs she had bought was this PQTME track from Céline Dion but I never bothered listening to it. Then one day the song played on the radio and I just thought it was the best thing I had ever heard. I tried to make out the words (my French was not great at the time) and the singer seemed to be saying “Pour que tu m’aimes encore”. “What? Could it really be that Céline Dion song that my mom had bought that I never took any interest in? No way, it must be something else” I thought. As soon as I got home I listened to the Céline Dion track I had never given much attention before and, sure enough, that was the song. The best song I had ever heard. Still my favorite song to this day.

So I did a thing y'all. I remember watching Taking Chances World tour on DVD and imagining what it would be like to visit all those cool places. 12 years later I have now been to over 70 countries but I still cherish the memories of me and my mom watching the DVD back in 2010. So made a video collage of some of the places I traveled to recently using the intro music from Celine Sur Les Plaines! Hope it ain't too obnoxious

PS there is a Celine segment at 1:29

This album has not aged very well with me...

This comes as no surprise as I never really loved it. It was just OK. This was down to the fact that there were many songs that I found inconsistent with what the album was supposed to be doing - to be taking chances! As far as the standard edition is concerned, songs like Taking Chances, Alone, Eyes On Me, My Love, Shadow Of Love, Surprise Surprise, This Time, I Got Nothing Left, Fade Away worked very well for me. I still enjoy them.

However, songs like New Dawn, A Song For You, A World To Believe In, Right Next To The Right One, Skies of L.A killed the album for me. These are the typical AC songs one would expect any Celine album to have. And they are not very interesting musically either. That's Just The Woman In Me and Can't Fight The Feeling are somewhere in the middle. They are edgy so they fit the album, but they are somewhat dated.

My Spotify version of the album looks like this:

1. Taking Chances

2. Alone

3. Eyes On Me

4. My Love

5. Shadow Of Love

6. Surprise Surprise

7. This Time

8. There Comes A Time

9. Can't Fight The Feeling

10. I Got Nothing Left

11. Fade Away

12. Map To My Heart

13. The Reason I Go On

It offers such a better listening experience - this is what the album should have looked like IMO.
