"Taking Chances" album - Official Topic

Well, I was expecting nothing from the album, and I was right to do so...because now I am finally excited about this bloody record!! There isn't one song clip that I despise, which is a first! There are some songs that stand out more than the others, but as of this moment, there isn't a song that I would skip over. I even love her voice on "I Got Nothin' Left"...it's the kind of creativity and interesting decision that I appreciate. She's showing evidence of the fact that she's interested in breaking out of her normal box, and I like it. The songs, the pictures, the team they composed, the studio clips...it's all been great.

 

The sad thing? I might be in the middle of moving and not be able to get the album when it comes out, or download her numerous TV appearances!! OH NOOO! I am putting my trust in the forum that the appearances will all be here when I'm able to come back.

 

Thanks to all the people who find this stuff, and to the forum for being the place to share it.

Firstly thanks to Fab for posting this! You are the best!! Now my thoughts.

 

1. Taking Chances

I was addicted to the song since the first 30 seconds

 

2. Alone

Its starting to grow on me, but I still like the original better.

 

3. Eyes On Me

Not a fan at ALL so far...maybe that`ll change when I hear the whole song.

 

4. My Love

I found it kind of boring... not sure if I like it, and I`m surprised that it was written by Linda Perry, because usally her songs are great!

 

5. Shadow Of Love

LOVE THIS SONG!! I could play it over and over. I agree with Tal, it does sound like an 80`s tune...kind of reminds me of like a new wave guy band...maybe Duran Duran or something like them

 

6. Surprise Surprise

I like it. I liked it when I saw the video footage as well. It suits her voice.

 

7. This Time

Very strong and powerful song. I think its a GREAT direction for her! I love the rock feel to it.

 

8. New Dawn

Beautiful. I love the gospel feel to it.

 

9. Song For You

Not sure about this one yet...I like the piano but I need to listen to the whole song.

 

10. A World To Believe In

Really nice. Reminds me kind of the LTAL era

 

11. Can't Fight The Feeling

Ehhh...a little too country for my taste. I`m not so sure I like it.

 

12. I Got Nothin' Left

This could be nice...but wtf is wrong with her vocals? So WIERD We`ll see I guess

 

13. Right Next To The Right One

from what I`ve heard its kinda dull. Not one of my favorites

 

14. Fade Away

Love it! Very "now" I could definitely see this as a hit single.

 

15. That's Just The Woman In Me

I love the blues/rock feel to this. Her gravely vocals sound sooo good on it.

 

16. Skies Of L.A.

I agree with Erika, I think the song will pick up somewhere in the middle...too hard to judge just now.

I listened. I couldn't help it. This Time is defo gonna be a single. I love it all. Don't wanna say much else or think about the songs too much. I hardly even know the names of the songs that weren't on that recording sessions video. Very excited. The fun has truly begun it seems!

The clips, and I do mean all of them, sound fantastic. This well and truly sets the scene for the album; Celine is well and truly "Taking Chances."

 

So far I am loving "Shadow Of Love", "This Time", "Eyes On Me" and "A World To Believe In" but overall this album is sounding utterly superb! Roll on November 11.

Same thoughts here ^^. I'm a big fan of My Love . To me, Céline sings it very emotionally.

I really like it as well. It feels like it has a bit of a Coldplay vibe and I LOOVE them!

 

No one's really talking much about Cant Fight the Feeling, but thats one of the songs I've been playing repeatedly. Right as the song fades out you hear a crazy guitar riff. I think that one is going to have a really strong rock sound once we hear the whole thing.

my take on the songs:

 

1. Surprise, Surprise (Oh God, I must have this song now. I loved it ever since I saw the video)

2. My Love (Her voice sounds so fresh and it brings all my emotions out, luv it)

3. Right Next to The Right One (Ahhhhhhhhh, so relaxing)

4. Shadow of Love (Very cool song)

5. Taking Chances (Luv it)

6. Alone (Luv it)

7. I Got Nothin' Left (Luv it, don't know why u guys r complainin abt her voice, they didn't do anything to her voice, u can hear her usual voice at the start of the clip and she went into very thin but then at the end of the clip, her voice went right back to the way her voice usually sounds, so atleast wait till u hear the whole song)

8. Eyes On Me (I LOVE 'That's the Way It Is' and 'I'm Alive', but this one is ok, don't know maybe it'll grow on me)

9. A World To Believe In (What can I say, She has a voice to believe in)

10. This Time (Really like it)

11. That's Just the Woman in Me (Sounds ok, want to hear the whole song first)

1st: if he will have a negative review then he will post it sooner or later

2nd: till now, he didnt write anything bad about celine come back, from the releasing of taking chances till the video of moody & celine in studio and lately about britney's album release change, he said she is fearing celine's sales would be more....

he always write good reviews about celine but if the people comments are rude and negative then we might take it as promotion, good or bad but at the end it is exposure and promotion

Sky's of L.A. sounds like one of those songs that really has no melody; reminds me of La Lettre...I'm sure it will get more interesting! Do we know who produced the song yet?

 

I predict I Got Nothing Left to be one of those songs where she starts off singing very softly and then builds to a bombastic voiced finish! I hope anyway! I'm so glad they included songs that I haven't heard yet though! What a treat!

Celine Dion stands on a league on her own. This new album is truly a masterpiece sent from heaven. Every song is different from the other. It doesnt matter if it is less rock than expected. Celine is not a rocker afterall. She is an artist with a golden voice that can sing any genre of music and in this album she shows that and more.

 

2nd single: I hope it will be "This time". I can already immagine the music video for this song. This song has potential in every way.

 

I cant also stop listening to New Dawn. From what I heard so far there isnt a song that I would skip on the album.
