I LLLLUUURRRVEE Surprise Surprise!!! And for all who's disappointed.. it's your own fault!!
You're right. I broke one of my major rules to never expect anything.
On the other hand, they shouldn't have talked all that rock talk, know what I mean?
But just because it's not what I expected, it doesn't mean it's not good, it's just something else. I love the song, that's the Celine I know and fell inlove with. Guess they were only referring to "That's Just the Woman in Me" when they said "The Celine you're about to discover" Just joking. I really need to hear the whole album before I say I love it or I love it a little less then others (there's no chance in hell I won't love it, because it's Celine, I love everything she does!)

lol yup that's all totally true!! But then again I think every album since FIY was said to have a more rock feeling to it!! Even ANHDC was supposed to be rock ! (like madonna's confessions on the dancefloor)
Madonna's "Confesions..." was supposed to be rock? Man, did they messed up there!
The thing is, the problem is not even with the songs really... I mean they could have easily been arranged to sound more rock, they have the heavy guitars and stuff.. Like Can't Fight the Feeling... They arranged it in a non-rock manner.
I love, love, LOVE her vocals on New Dawn I love This Time (again, this could have been more heavy, if they wanted to give the album a rock sound).
I know I'm repeating myself, but I can't fight the feeling ( ) I get when listening to That's Just the Woman in Me. It's the only clip there that puts a huge smile of happiness and amazement and satisfaction on my face. It's just one of those Celine moments I get, when I can't believe my ears, it's that good!

LOL if every song has heavy guitars in them, then the album would be very boring... like céline kinda said herself!

And I know the feeling... that woooooooooooooooooooow feeling! I had it with Shadow of Love, SS, This Time, Fade Away and Skies of LA.... that song reminds me of another one... I dunno it sounds gorgeous!

btw she used that voice from I aint got nothin left in other songs... I dunno kinda like Miles To Go, or something like that... it sounded familiair! hahaha

We should talk in private, we seem to have so much to share to each other :giggle: I can put my finger on Skies of L.A. musically speaking, but the few lyrics we hear are great. It sounds like a deep song. "Everyone has a finger, but they can't point me to light" - love that line!

I'm not saying I wanted heavy guitars on every song. I was just saying that there are songs on this album that have heavy guitars and could've been arranged differently, in order to give them a more rock sound.

Interesting article Ronny. It's quite funny how the writer tries to trash the album, but Moody defended Celine, gave all the right answers. At least they think her cover is tasteful sexy :wub:

Perhaps if I let out my thoughts aboutt the songs, I won't feel as bad... So here it goes.

1. Taking Chances

Loved it from the start, no need for much more to be said. -_-

2. Alone

Again, love it, love it, love it. Celine covers this outstandingly well. :in_love:

3. Eyes On Me

A really different style for Celine, but by golly, I think this may make it onto some of the ipods of younger listeners... or at least get good reviews from them. I find that it leans a lot towards a Shakira-y style. "Very fresh for her", according to my sister. :thumbsup2:

4. My Love

This is quite edgy. Celine's voice sounds flexible and it takes on an interesting, yet very lovely timber.

5. Shadow Of Love

Love it! I can totally see myself listening to this song and driving a convertible on a beach. Very fresh. :w00t: Celine's still got that "lerve" thing going on. It still gets to me every time - it's so Celine and so cute. :lol:

6. Surprise Surprise

Catchy. Very well put together. It better have been if you saw the Celine in studio video. It looked like she wanted to give Kara a good whack. :giggle:

7. This Time

Very cool song. Lots of emotion and Celine's voice is so yum. :in_love:

8. New Dawn

This songs takes me back to "Falling Into You". She sounds amazing and the style seems more like the classic Celine. :yes:

9. Song For You

Okay... I don't really fancy this one much. It's like a "Miracle" flashback. :ermm:

10. A World To Believe In

I think this is a song I'll learn to love a lot. For some odd reason it reminds me of "I Know What Love Is".

11. Can't Fight The Feeling

Very awesome 'daytime' song. Sounds Shania-y. :giggle:

12. I Got Nothin' Left

Great song, very pretty. Though, Celine's voice is unusual and very unlike her (kind of chipmunk-y), but again, it's fresh. -_-

13. Right Next To The Right One

This is a little strange (very country-ish)... It sounds like a song that would go well with some sort of Disney movie like "Toy Story" or "Fox and the Hound" or something. :whistling:

14. Fade Away

I love this. It's catchy and very modern. :w00t: :wub: I'm tempted to put this into my Sims game. :giggle:

15. That's Just The Woman In Me

Very blues-y. I don't want to judge this one quite in depth yet - I'd like to hear it in full HQ first.

16. Skies Of L.A.

If I'm allowed to predict, I think that somewhere along the song it's supposed speed up. Otherwise it's a little plain.

I would really hold off on judging her voice on I Got Nothin Left yet. I remember being scared by the TCH 30 sec clip and was pleasantly surprised.

Ok after first few listens, guess which song is in my head? I got nothing left. But I totally agree with Tal about the voice thing. It has been completely manipulated. At first I was like, were they trying to do this on purpose so the public would not recognize that it was Celine???

I think skies of LA is going to be one of my favs! I'm a sucker for a good piano song! :in_love: :laugh: Lol I know what you meant with the guitars... you're right in a way! Allthough too much heavy guitare could have put céline's voice more to the background!

Eyes On Me

too bad it sounds like the recording session. It gives a great impression the first secs of listening but gets booring and empty after a while and you're just waiting for the song to "get it going" but all that happens is that it ends. - with a great remix this song is the biggest hit on the album, without - album fill out.

My Love

Let's get sappy shall we?

The Sofia Källgren track seems like a better option.

Shadow Of Love

How tired aren't I about these kind of songs. So typical Swedish B-list artist to be played on the radio with these kind of tracks. And if it aint heard there I'll bet you'll find more than you can bear of songs like this on the Eurovision Song Contest.

Surprise Surprise

Seems nice, great fill out. Could perhaps work as a single.

This Time

Now this is good. Very fine attitude and really well produced.

New Dawn

Soulful, gospel, wisdom. Sucks you into it. Really nice. Great choise, well produced.

A Song For You

The piano and the violins are splendid. But vocally it feels improvised, not sure I like it.

A World To Believe In

Horrible sappy song. IKWLI the sequal. This song shall be banned!! Seriously. :nono:

Can't Fight The Feeling

This is the first rocky track on the album since TC,Alone and prehaps This Time. Real nice, a bit cheesy but of so radio friendly. Should definetly be considered as single.

I Got Nothin' Left

What happened to her?! Is she duetting with something? So squeeky have we never heard her, not even during the Dolly Parton impression on AND Opening Night's version of WAWW. I can't listen, it is just annoying. Who produced this??? :glare:

Right Next To The Right One

The wonderful spirit of the original version seems to be hovering over this one too. Wonderful. Want to see more! Sadly it gets forgotten easily when I recall the album, so that makes it just fill out - but what a fill out!!! :w00t:

Fade Away

Nice. But the nasal police will arrest her here. But I don't care that much, it seems like this clip is building up a nice catchy refrain.

That's Just The Woman In Me

Yay. Wonderful. Bravissimo! This track is so so so good. It really stands out.

Skies Of L.A.

How nice doesn't she sound? And how nice doesn't the arrengements flow? How well produced can one track be? This seems to be a true diamond. Can't wait to hear more of this. Wonderful.

Rock concept? No. Who came up with that? This album is as schizo as her other albums no exception.

But it feels very modern. And very "in time". For once she's not grasping the trendy trail, nor is she ground breaking, nor trendsetting. This is just Céline Dion in the 21:th centery. The way we want her. As far as she's willing to strech at the moment, musically.

But it's fine. In fact it's very fine. Good album. Nice overall quality. Those who expected something huge are gonna be disapointed. Those who expected a flop will have to look the other way.

Bring it on!

I love New Dawn, it comes in my head just after That's Just the Woman in Me. When she starts hitting the high loud notes, I just wanna stand up and shout "Praise the Lord!" And I'm not really a religious person...

I am in heaven. I just can't wait for it!!!!! yesterday i ordered the deluxe edition and the cd/dvd of these are the special times. The VOICE is just mesmerizing, captivating, phenomenal, amazing and i can go on and on! Fantastic :clap:

Eyes On Me is almost a given since it's so fun and different for Céline.

This Time is almost a given too since it will get a lot of attention in the media due to it's theme.

Can't Fight The Feelin' is very radio friendly, catchy, but perhaps it's a too safe card? I don't know.

Fade Away is a really dangerous, don't know why, but very radiolike song, I really do think this will be one of the remaining three singles.
