Jean-François Breau raconte un moment phare dans sa carrière d'auteur-compositeur, lorsqu'il a composé la musique de On s'est aimé à cause, pour Céline Dion.

 

Au micro de Tout un samedi, Jean-François Breau avoue que cet épisode a été un « moment phare » dans sa carrière.

« L’histoire de cette chanson-là, c’est Marc Dupré qui me téléphone un jour pour me dire que René Angelil et Céline Dion m’ont téléphoné pour me faire une commande de leur livrer une musique sur un texte de Françoise Dorin, une chanson qui a le potentiel de se retrouver sur l’album D’Elles, l’album que Céline avait enregistré il y a quelques années », se souvient Jean-François Breau.

Celui-ci se rappelle que le but était de faire une musique assez forte pour qu’elle se retrouve sur l’album. « La pression était forte ! [...] Mais quelques semaines après l’envoi de la chanson, ça a été une réponse positive : Céline et René ont adoré notre musique », dit-il encore réjoui.

Jean-François Breau s’est alors rendu avec Marc Dupré à New York pour assister à l’enregistrement de la chanson. « Je me retrouve derrière la console d’enregistrement, à New York, à côté de René Angelil, à diriger Céline sur ce qu’on avait envie d’entendre. J’ai compris la générosité qu’elle a. C’est une grande artiste et une grande femme. C’était tout un trip ! », conte-t-il.

 

Parler de l’amour qui dure

 

« C’est une chanson qui parle de l’amour qui dure, de l’amour qui dure malgré les “malgré”. C’est ce qui a touché Céline », atteste Jean-François Breau.

Selon lui, cette chanson a marqué un accomplissement en tant qu’auteur-compositeur.

Jean-François Breau told Tout un Samedi that this was a "huge moment" in his career.

 

"The story of this song started when Marc Dupré called me one day to tell me that René Angélil and Céline Dion had called me to ask me to add music to a song with lyrics by Françoise Dorin, a song that had the potential to be included on the album D'elles, which Céline recorded a few years ago", Jean-François Breau tells us.

He remembers that the goal was to create a music strong enough as to be included oh the album. "The pressure was quite something! (...) But a few weeks after I sent them the song, the answer was positive: Céline and René loved our music", says he, still happy.

Please excuse me if this has been discussed already... does this album have severe vocal clipping?

 

I always listened to a download so I assumed it was just poor quality... I now have the CD and a great new sound system and it's the same... everytime Céline's voice has any power in it there is a sort of crackle like the recording's gone over 100%, it's really annoying!

 

A good example is La Diva where most of the song is like this!

I do not understand half the abreviations people here are using, but I do agree that this upcoming tour would be an amaaaaaazing time to bring back some songs off D'eeles. This will be the ten year anniversary of it, folks. I think this is my favorite of her French albums, though my profile probably says differently. My very number one top favorite French song, L'immensite is off this. Now I think I'm going to probably become really unpopular for this as it's a point of fake argument between me and my really close friend about this, but I think the fast version of A Cause is my favorite between the two. I think if she did it live, well I'd like to hope people would get up and start dancing. I would. I love it. I do, however, also really love On S'est Aime a Cause. I would be okay with either version she did live. They're both amazing! Thank you for the translation of that composer's message, that was neat to read. Although, I thought D'elles was primarily composed by women so now I'm kinda confused.

Finally, someone else who loves the fast version of A Cause. i also love Je Cherche L'Ombre. When I first heard it, I translated it as, I look for the darkness. Since I lost my sight in 2012 I thought, why the (censored) would you ever look for the darkness? I want to get out of it so bloomin bad. Then I learned it really means, i look for the shadow. When I read the lyrics it all made sense. My other song I love off this album is Le Temps Qui Compte. With what's happened to her lately this song is sooooooooooooo relevant. Je Ne Suis Pas Celle is soooooooooo good, so soft as well, and the first song, which I can't spell or pronounce is so awesome too. I was a bit sad it was the only song off this album to be done in the French leg of the TC tour but it was at least done. I also think a lot of Les Paradis with what she has been through lately. I love the line in the second verse, which, when translated says, "the fragile/difficult days are infinite, life taught me everything." I bet she could relate to that if she ever heard that song again.

To me IMMENSITÉ has been the highlight of her last two tours and you can tell she loves singing it.

 

God I hate them for not recording last year's shows and Paris 2013.
