Ajax Posted June 22, 2020 at 02:38 PM Posted June 22, 2020 at 02:38 PM Sure. But this coach seems quite demanded. That would mean that she would get ride of all her other clients during those periods. And that she would not work on a regular basis with her. Don’t know. There s no good coach in Vegas ? Quote
manu23 Posted June 22, 2020 at 03:53 PM Posted June 22, 2020 at 03:53 PM A captivating interview with Céline’s vocal coach Johanne Raby: https://youtu.be/DcO8slOeZWA What I found most interesting is that she says that the voice only matures at age 30 and only reaches its peak at age 50-55. She also reinforces what Céline has said many times before, that a singer is an athlete and has to do vocal exercises everyday. Johanne says that if singers do work on their voice everyday, their voice shouldn’t get any deeper as a singer gets older (ages 60-70). She also talks about Céline’s 2018 ear surgery and her song “Ashes”. The only thing I find a bit worrying about her is that she doesn’t seem demanding enough. She seems more like a “yes person” who’s easy to satisfy. However, if she is responsible for Céline’s voice improving, I’m happy. What does she say about the ear surgery? Back then I read this condition she was suffering from is not guaranteed to be cured even after surgery. I think her voice was perfect in the 2017 tour, I was really amazed how well she sounded on that tour. But then after the ear problem I think she has lost some control, but I'm not an expert so just guessing here. Quote
alexceline Posted June 22, 2020 at 05:09 PM Posted June 22, 2020 at 05:09 PM (edited) May I ask how did we conclude that Johanne Raby is Celine's vocal coach? I did a quick google search and the quebec press interviews I saw and the above interview and another one in september 2019 I watched never imply she's coaching Celine. She's introduced as "a vocal coach" and she speaks very generally about Celine's voice using phrases as "it sounds like she's still doing vocal exercises". Have I missed anything? I hope she can fix Céline’s yodeling moments and some of the issues that were not present before. I want to make céline’s voice full again. Work more on Céline’s strengths and belts (some are flat) and fixing some notes (lying down) were she struggles. Quote

But then after the ear problem I think she has lost some control, but I'm not an expert so just guessing here. She says that the surgery has not affected Céline’s voice negatively in any way and has not damaged her confidence. About the 2017 tour, I too used to think that her voice was amazing on that tour until I watched some videos last night and now I think her voice is better now than it was on that tour. On the 2017 tour she was often struggling with high, mixed belts which sounded thin and raspy. Nowadays they’re clear and powerful again. It’s most obvious on LCMM and RDMH. 3 Quote The best is yet to come...

AdrienneM Posted June 22, 2020 at 10:27 PM Posted June 22, 2020 at 10:27 PM Even as early as the first show of the tour, even though her voice was shot with illness, you could hear her tone was audibly clearer, stronger and way less groggy. Then when her voice had recovered by the second Ottawa show, basically all of the October shows, I realised how much her voice had improved even since June of that very year 2 Quote

Leo Posted August 13, 2020 at 01:50 AM Posted August 13, 2020 at 01:50 AM It's very noticeable how her training improved her voice quality in the 1991-1996 period. By 1996 her voice sounded so chrystal-clear. "D'eux" was recorded after being on tour almost non-stop since February 1994 and her voice didn't sound tired at all! 1 Quote

smw Posted August 29, 2021 at 12:17 AM Posted August 29, 2021 at 12:17 AM (edited) Since we've been talking a bit about Celine's voice in the recording studio (in recent years), I'm curious...Starting with the Loved Me Back to Life album all the way up to Superwoman, which songs do you think she sounds the best on? For me... Incredible, Overjoyed, Wicked Game, and Ashes come to mind. Her tone is lovely in each of these tracks. I also really love her voice here: Edited August 29, 2021 at 12:19 AM by smw Quote
Celinelife Posted August 29, 2021 at 03:26 AM Posted August 29, 2021 at 03:26 AM which songs do you think she sounds the best on? It's Loved Me Back To Life, Thank You, Recovering, How Does A Moment Lasts Forever, and Encore Un Soir, Les yeux au ciel. I think last English album with all songs perfect (vocally) was LMBTL, and for French well it's still going (last being Encore Un Soir) 1 Quote

PuraVida Posted August 29, 2021 at 04:43 PM Posted August 29, 2021 at 04:43 PM (edited) I think Breakaway was one of her best vocal moments since 2013. It could have been a strong lead single imo. Her voice has held up beautifully, I think the only thing that has suffered is her pronunciation. In "Breakaway" she shows how you can achieve different vocal colours and attitudes without sacrificing pronunciation. Sounding new but still classic Celine! And nowadays she seems rather don't sing the song than lip it, esept for the must sing ones. 1 Quote

Yeah but her current shows tend to have a theme of being positive and uplifting. This is the type of song that you cry to for hours on your bathroom floor lmao. It's depressing. 1 Quote

I respect your opinion, but I don't think it's anymore depressing than NMQP which she included for a time, right? Ne Me Quitte Pas. There is definitely an upbeat, defiant, empowering undercurrent in Breakaway in my opinion. Its not a very slow song. 1 Quote
PuraVida Posted January 6, 2022 at 01:37 AM Posted January 6, 2022 at 01:37 AM (edited) Why do you think people call Celine nasal? I think they call her that way more than she actually is. I'm mostly talking about the general public or stans of other singers who don't like Celine. She is probably most nasal in her French music, which they've never heard. And outside of the Power of Love studio recording and her very early "A New Day" Vega years, she hasn't been super nasal. Edited January 6, 2022 at 01:39 AM by PuraVida Quote
