Davey84 Posted September 27, 2009 at 09:20 PM Posted September 27, 2009 at 09:20 PM (edited) thank you very much for the videos Stijn! Unfortunaltly I didn't see you that night! I enjoyed the concert, Lara was vocally in topshape, the special effects with the holograms was amazing and so lifelike.... but... she should have sung more of her own songs. All those covers, maybe it's great for frenchspeaking people, who know those songs from the past... but I felt that the best parts, where when Lara sang the medley of her own songs, La difference, Humana and Adagio! It made me feel that she doesn't need to sing all those covers, but her own songs are enough and way more pleasing! (hmmm who else should listen to that... ) I did love how she did Wind beneath my wings, that was a really nice touch! Oh and that white dress thingy with the pink accents was totally not done! I did like that tv theme medley though! even though I didn't knew most songs, it was really funny to see and hear! a funny céline moment was, when Célines face appeared when LAEE ended, I and the two girls I was with screamed our heads of, because of that, and the people arround us looked at us like: I can't wait to hear the bootleg! But I don't feel the need to travel to Paris to see the show again... btw did you notice that before the concert, they played the english album of TLFM??!! I really wonder when that will be released! Bralo20 Posted September 28, 2009 at 07:02 AM Posted September 28, 2009 at 07:02 AM (edited) I had a seat in block G, row 5. but I ended up standing between block G & H so unless you sat at the opposite side of the theater it was quite impossible to locate me I was in a good spot to film but I did miss quite a big part of the show because I couldn't see what was playing on the screen. I noticed they used HUD (head up display) technology to play video's where she ended up in between. You know that it's a concert promoting her latest album "Tout les femmes en moi" and that's a cover album with French songs from female singers that ment something to her. I loved most of the songs played but I remain with my comment that the songs were better during the preview last year then when released on the CD last May. Maybe the concert concert tour will be with own songs... She did release a cover album so it was to be expected that she would bring almost exclusively songs from this album. Regarding the EWIM album (which will probably only be released for download): If they end up having a delay like the TLFM album we'll probably have to wait another year or so Anyway, she performed "Wind beneath my wings & Do you know?" which both are on the album. Regarding her clothes... The pink pyjama wasn't exactly the best thing she could have chosen but you have to admit it matched the childish cartoon medley (which was totaly out of place). The bootleg will come but it will take some time The reason why I'll be heading to Paris is to see the show I've taken pictures, I filmed and due this I actually missed the whole show, so Paris is all about enjoying the songs Btw something I wrote on the official forum on Lara's site: After flying half across the world to see some famous artists performing a friend of my told me a couple of months ago that Lara Fabian would be performing in Forest National in Brussels and asked me if I would join him. Ofcourse I agreed to this invitation. I've only learned about Lara a couple of years ago when she performed as a mystery guest on the Night of the Proms in Antwerp. What she performed there was absolutely amazing... The regular program filled with names like Texas, Tears for Fears and Ike Turner was allready amazing but when Lara performed the audience, which was most Flemish & Dutch, was amazed by the performance of this not so famous artist in Flanders & The Netherlands. But Lara proved she was a world class artist who could easily amaze the audience by her performance. After her performance Lara was given an unseen huge applause and a standing ovation... Rarely seen at the Night of the Proms and certainly not for a guest performer. From this day on I became interested in Lara's music and wanted to know more about her. I lissened to her music and discovered an artist that could make very nice music. Last year in October I was invited to visit the Boulgioni Circus where Lara would present her new album. Tout les femmes en moi... Although containing covers I admitted that this album was a nice addition to her collection of albums. Although I have to say that some songs were better in the preview compared to the album released in May. But hey, nothing to complain about. Still a nice album Moving on to the concert... Since I live nearby Brussels it's only a quick drive to Forest National. From previous visits I knew there was some sort of hidden parkingspace behind the theater so I wasn't in a rush to get there. About 1 hour before the show should start we entered Forest National and searched for our places... And then came my single disappointing experience of the day... The seats had very limited legspace to seat comfortable for several hours (i'm 2m04 big ). But hey, I'm always finding a solution. I left the friend who invited me in the seats and walked arround for a while and ended standing between some stages. This gave me the oppurtunity to film some of her performances and enjoy the rest of the show without knees and legs that hurt The artist performing before Lara was just a waiste of time. Damn, never saw such a terrible artist performing (and yes, I've seen plenty of performances allready in Belgium and abroad)... It seemed that the man was high on something. Maybe a drugstest had been approriate in his case. But no problem, time to get a drink. When I finally heard that the man stopped crying I went inside again to find a nice spot. After a while there was some commotion on the center and soon it was clear that also Justin Henin was attending the concert. Lots a people where taking pictures and it went all smoothly in a relaxed atmosphere. And then it started... Mammy Blue was started and the spotlight went to the center seating. Lara was walking through the crowd to the stage while she was singing Mammy Blue. The show had started... I didn't wrote down every song she performed, I've just enjoyed her performance... Almost every single part of her perfomance was great... I especially loved her version of Diana Ross' Do you know?... Humana, l'amour existe encore, adagio, to much to mention... Everything was just marvelous... Except for 1 thing... 1 very annoying thing (please don't shoot me for this)... I didn't like the cartoon medley... It's childish and It didn't fit into the program... Maybe because I don't like child music but IMHO it just didn't fit in the whole performance... It was out of place. But this was only 1 small thing that annoyed me. The rest of the concert was just great! After about 2h17 minutes of singing (way more then scheduled) it was over... Although the seating in Forest National is the worst I have ever seen it was one of the best performances that I ever attended... Within less then 2 weeks I'll be heading to Paris for a quick visit of her first show in Zenith Paris. After seeing the show in Brussels I'm sure it's worth driving 350km's one way to see this performance. It will be a very short night (I'll return to Belgium after the show is finished) but if up to the standards like the Brussels show it will be worth the driving. My appologies for writing this into the English language. Although I can read French rather fluent i'm honest to tell that i'm not capable to write a report into the French language. Sorry for this inconvience. Later some other video's and some pictures will follow. Edited September 28, 2009 at 07:03 AM by Bralo20 Quote ...

Davey84 Posted September 28, 2009 at 02:46 PM Posted September 28, 2009 at 02:46 PM well yeah, I didn't understand all, but she was referring to her childhood and having a (imaginary) friend to tell all your secrets too and Céline was hers, or something like that! Stijn, I did think the theme medley did fit into the concept, cos the whole night was practically about her childhood and growing up! I did expect many covers (the songs of the album) but she also did other covers, that weren't on the album, IMO that was a bit too much! she should have sang more of her own... It's actually a quite basis song performed for the first back in 1972 by Nana Mouskouri. Although it's a catchy tune the song itself has not much meaning. I can actually translate the whole song in 1 sentence: It's a song about the first sunshine after dark months, she sings her joy to the first rays of sunlight. That's about it, but it's a great and catchy song, even although its almost 40yo. Quote ...
