ennostiel Posted April 7, 2009 at 11:10 AM Posted April 7, 2009 at 11:10 AM Now you've made it a topic about Belgium But now I know Poland is not the only place where there's trouble with finding most of Lara's CDs... In fact I never could understand why she really ISN'T that widely known, at least around here, her only songs people know are 'I will love again' and 'No big deal', and people hardly ever even realise it's the same person who sings them, or how wonderful Lara is... I wish she was at least half as popular as Celine is. Quote Ce n'est qu'en te croisantQue j'ai su, j'ai compris... Bralo20 Posted April 7, 2009 at 11:38 AM Posted April 7, 2009 at 11:38 AM Now you've made it a topic about Belgium But now I know Poland is not the only place where there's trouble with finding most of Lara's CDs... In fact I never could understand why she really ISN'T that widely known, at least around here, her only songs people know are 'I will love again' and 'No big deal', and people hardly ever even realise it's the same person who sings them, or how wonderful Lara is... I wish she was at least half as popular as Celine is. Lara isn't even to famous in the Flemish part of Belgium although she's a Belgian singer (with Canadian citizenship)... Probably because she's French... Belgium is devided in 4 parts in mening of language: 1) Brussels Capital Region: official duallanguage: French & Dutch (in practise mostly French) 2) Flanders: the largest region of Belgium were people speak Dutch 3) Wallonia, the second largest part where people speak French 4) German Language part: Very small part in the east of Belgium where people speak German. The 3 official languages are "Dutch/French/German" Lara is a French speaking from the capital region of Brussels and although she is rather famous in the Wallonia part of Belgium she's nearly unknown in the Flemish part of Belgium. Don't know why exactly but it is known that singers have a problem by getting famous in eachother part of the country. We have very famous artists in some type of music (for example the Belgian Dance music is rather famous arround the world) and although those (Flemish) groups have great succes in foreign countries they are getting no credibility in the other part of Belgium. Vica versa the same... Lara Fabian is a French singer from Brussels. She's famous in the Wallonia part but not in the Flemish part... It's the continues battle between French & Flemish (Dutch) in Belgium One of the few Flemish singers that are also famous in Wallonia and even France is actually Axelle Red, she's a Flemish singer who sings in French and is actually famous in whole Belgium and other countries. So if it's hard to get famous in Belgium I certainly can imagine the struggle to get credibility in the rest of the world... And Lara has also another problem which is for a lot of Flemish people hard to accept. She has a Flemish father and a Italian mother but she doesn't speaks Flemish (Dutch)... It seems that if you are a Belgian artist you have very little luck to succeed in the world I like Lara a lot, and personal I think she's one of the best singers in the world, sometimes even better then Céline... corr_azy Posted April 7, 2009 at 02:26 PM Posted April 7, 2009 at 02:26 PM Wow! Thanks for all that interesting information. Lara's only hit here in Singapore was I Will Love Again. Only the two English CDs she has released can be found here, although I've managed to find Nue and Carpe Diem in second hand shops. It's really a struggle trying to find her CDs. I kinda wish she was more famous too! Quote

Bralo20 Posted April 8, 2009 at 08:18 AM Posted April 8, 2009 at 08:18 AM cd cover I've been to the preview of the CD last october (pictures in the previous page) where we heared about half of the cd and it was very nice... It's a cover CD with songs from all the female artists where she learned from or who inspired her. There's also a Céline Dion song on the CD. I liked what I heard about half a year ago during the preview and since they have been working to the numbers since then I expect a very nice CD... Can't wait untill the release. Quote ...
Filine Posted April 8, 2009 at 09:06 AM Posted April 8, 2009 at 09:06 AM I love Lara's voice too Some of her songs touch me as deep as Céline's, but you really can't compare. What attracts me in Lara's career is the fact that she isn't as big as Céline is It makes her more genuine at some points Quote http://www.celinedion.nl/pics/cindy/bannerza.jpg"They call my home the land of snow, Canadian cold front movin' in"

rael1983 Posted April 17, 2009 at 10:34 PM Posted April 17, 2009 at 10:34 PM (edited) Le Parisien has published an article about Lara. She talks about her new album, "Toutes les femmes en moi", an album of covers out on May 25th 2009 with her favourite songs by female artists that she reinvented on soul, gospel and R'n'B melodies. She says Nana Mouskouri was a the first singer her mother would listen constantly, and Lara sang it a lot in front of the mirror. "Mamy Blue" was the first song sang by Lara (when she was 2); and the first song she ever sang in public was "L'amour existe encore", by Celine Dion. She also talks about this so-discussed subject, the rivality with Celine: "It was a fake rivality, created by out respective fans. This version is not a joke, it's a true reverence!". Lara tell us a little bit more of her life, she says that after giving birth to her daughter, her priorities have changed. She also says that the "chanteuse-a-voix"'s time is over. Besides that, it is also confirmed that Lara will be part of a musical, interpreting the character Julie Andrews did in the past: a travesti in "Victor Victoria", in 2010. "It's the first time I'm composing completely someone who's not me". http://img242.imageshack.us/img242/221/090417122935849713.th.jpg Edited April 17, 2009 at 10:37 PM by rael1983 Quote

rael1983 Posted May 24, 2009 at 09:36 PM Posted May 24, 2009 at 09:36 PM Lara has included a personal letter to each of the women she covers in her new album. Here's the letter she wrote to Celine, but it is in French and I can't understand it so maybe some French fan can for the rest of us to know what she is saying?: It's letter number 9: Lara Fabian - Toutes Les Femmes En Moi (booklet) Quote
