Lara is, with Celine and Tina Arena, my three favourite female singers in the world. I own all of her albums and DVD's and I can't wait to have her new album. She is always great.

 

They're also in my top list! (along with Mariah, Whitney and Madonna)

Unfortunately her new cd is yet another time postponed... Due to be released in December last year it was rescheduled to March and now it will be June when the new cd will be released.

The release is scheduled for 2009, not 2008 (which is already passed by us)

hmmmm you're kinda right. her peak was arround the millennium i guess, but she still sounds

amazing on En toute intimité and wonderful life! but I think she hasn't been very protective of her voice, so it lost the clearity it had...

On the official site she wrote the album will be released next June ... let's hope they won't change the date once again!

I'm not so fond of Lara's PQTME or Le Blues du Businessman (in fact I kinda disliked her version of LBdB, at least the one I heard), but I LOOOVE 'Je t'aime', 'Si tu m'aimes', 'Tout', 'Caruso', 'Adagio' (both in English and Italian) and the Spanish 'Quedate'... plus her best-known hit songs, 'No Big Deal' and 'I will love again'

I love it too. I love the fact that she didn't even try to sing it like Celine but made her very own version. It's like a new song..

I wish Celine would "play" more with the song, improvise, have fun with the melody..

Does anyone know what would be a good place online to buy her French CDs? It seems many of the online stores seel only her English CDs or sell imports of her French CDs that are way overpriced.

Yep, I'm indeed from Belgium

 

What cities are you going to visit?

 

 

In the center of Brussels you will find the FNAC store with a decent collection of CD's (several thousands), it's located in the City 2 shoppingcenter on the "Kruidtuinlaan" in Brussels. A few meters further you can find on the topfloor of the "INNO" shoppingcenter the "MEDIAMARKT" shop with also a decent collection of CD's (again several thousands). It's located in the "Nieuwstraat" or "Rue neuf" like they say in Brussels. In Antwerp you have the same shops, a FNAC and a MEDIAMARKT. Don't know the streetnames unfortunately. On the A12 highway between Brussels and Antwerp you have in Wilrijk (a part of Antwerp) a rather new "SATURN" store with again a very large collection of cd's...

 

SATURN & MEDIAMARKT are both from the same owners (the METRO group) so the prices are rather the same. FNAC is a part of a French group and commonly those prices are (a lot) higher then in the SATUR/MEDIAMARKT stores...

 

Then you have also Free Record Shop and Extrazone but those are smaller and mostly also a bit more expensive.

In Ghent you will find also a FNAC store, it's located in the "Veldstraat".

A Mediamarkt is also located near Ghent but it's in "Oostakker, in the "Herman Teirlinckstraat" near the ringway arround Ghent.

 

When you are in Ghent you should definately go the a famous café called "'t Velootje" (the bicycle), it serves more then 30 sorts of beer and is really special due it's design. It's a very very old building and the interior is just full of bicycles, from old to new. It's a real authentic café in Ghent

It's located in the area "Patershol"

 

In the same area you will also find several very nice restaurant including the famous spare rib restaurant "Amadeus", the address of this location is "Plotersgracht 8" also located in the "Patershol"

 

Another good place for drinking something is the lovely café "'L Enfant Terrible" (The terrible child) located in close proximity to the "Vrijdagsmarkt". We use this location always for meetings with the board of my non profit organisation. It's a nice location. The address: "Bij Sint-Jacobs 13" in Ghent.
