I've created this topic for all members to give their feedback concerning CelineDion.com, TeamCeline, and anything Celine-related the team should know of. Here is your chance to write what you like, dislike, how to improve, etc.. Post anything you want them to hear, I'm sure you many of you have plenty to say.

 

Please keep all your comments constructive and absolutely no bashing of any allowed. On one of their emails, they feel discouraged from reading some very negative posts against them on other fansites. Let's keep it clean and constructive. I hope this thread will serve a good purpose for them.

Bring back the INSTRUMENTAL BACKING TRACKS that used to play on the site, we all already have Celine on CD's we buy, give us something different to listen to when on the site!!!!

perhaps a new layout would be nice. the current one has been in use for a lil too long and for the discography section, the song titles in the albums' respective pages seems cramped. and also can we have more official wallpapers in the screen gem section?

I think teamceline should improve their speed on sending "already paid for" parcels out in a decent amount of time! The last thing I bought was "For Keeps" and I was charged in November and didn't actually get the book till March!! Pretty poor, and it's not the first time this has happened...

Great idea guys!

 

I have to admit, that I rarely visit the official site. I’ve learnt in the past, that I get the news faster from other sources(this forum mostly ).

 

I know that the official site is criticized a lot because of “old news”. And I think that the main thing people expect from the site is more up to date news. Anything extra would be a bonus.

 

New layout would be fabulous. And if new ideas and web designers are needed, I’m sure there are bunch of fans who’d be perfect for the job. *points at Clari and Tal*

 

I loved the Ask Céline -thing, that was done to celebrate FIY. If something like that was done more regularly, it would be amazing. Something that would make us fans feel like we really are interacting with Céline herself.

 

Also I love the video messages. Would be great to get them every now and then even if there isn’t any big event coming up etc… Oh! I know! A video diary!

 

And I’m sure there are a lot of unseen stuff, pictures, behind the scenes etc.. that could be shared.

 

Oh and as a TeamCeline member, poor student paying $25/year for nothing much if quite disappointing. But I do want to be a member just to show my support. Then again I’m not a member of any other fan clubs, so I might be expecting too much or something. *shrug*

 

I know we complain a lot and we want a lot, but it’s only because we are in love. lol

She could write a msg once in while, I don't know. Videos + msg + voice msg .. heh someone give any ideas here please LOL heheheh

 

Wallpapers: Yeah we could have more walls, the last one is so old. With new pictures just like the calendaries -- but the only problem of those calendaries is that the lines usually are on the pictures -- so that's why we need wallpapers

 

I also think it would be great if we have more contest on the site for teamceline, especially. Contests to for something -- not to win itens, it can be but not stuffs we can buy in somewherelse easily --- Im thinking about contests to meet Celine, to win tickets for the show beside the teamceline monthly contest. Cause people like me who are from countries that Celine never has been so that makes her less popular than in other places -- so here in Brazil, for eg we don't have the opportunity to meet Celine beside teamceline contest. I'm not only thinking about brazilians. Like for eg, US people have the perfurme site, radios stuffs etc - we dont. Canadian people too. Thats it basically more opportunities for us to meet Celine or something, get AA tickets orch 4 for the show....

I think they should work on the design, they should update the biography... maybe from time to time have a few songs broadcast on the Internet through live streaming, from Vegas...

 

they should totally put more unseen pictures & videos on the site; and wallpapers. And maybe they should have a big forum just like this on the site, I think it would be great... because then we would feel closer to Celine when posting on it. No offense, but it is highly unlikely for Celine to visit this fan forum one day... or the another source... I post on both because of my love for Celine, but on an official one I'm pretty sure we'd feel even better!!!

That's idea of an official forum is great. Other artists have that as Sarah Brightman for e.g. Once in awhile she leaves msg there - very rare of course hehe but she does and her manager I guess he goes here more often.

Maybe in this case (Celine) Rene could participate or Patrick or whoever is on the the team. Just once in awhile of course

 

Ah and also maybe we fans (teamceline) could have a sort of opportunity to leave msgs to Céline so we would know she would read it - something like that, and we would feel closer to her

I didn't want to get into a critique of the official website, but I do want to say that I think that an 'official' message board with the same kind of formatting as this one with some professional (non-fan) moderators would be wonderful.

 

Not only do I like the idea because it would be on Celine's official website but I think it could yield or bring to a simmer, a lot of the bickering between groups of fans. I think that an official conversation board would be a great way to kind of bridge the gap between some and would unite a greater number of people for conversation--which seems to be what people enjoy. Larger numbers and more variety of fans to communicate with.

 

The number of fans that an official conversation board could bring in is a really spectacular thought to me. The official website welcomes people who are just getting to know Celine and her music visiting the official website for their first introduction to she and her career. If I remember correctly (it was a long time ago) it was the first website I ever visited when I was just 9 years old, and definitely when I was 13. I was a frequent visitor to the talkcity chatroom that used to be hosted. I think that would be a great way to get visitors even more into the scene--get them interacting with the fan-base right away if they'd like to.

 

I think that there are lots of things that would need to be looked over in much more detail-- like photo and video sharing and such. It seems to be a huge issue lately. But I think that this would be a way to kind of bring those problems down on the scale as well. If there was an official conversations board, perhaps contests could be held for background designs and templates every couple of months with photos that someone on the celinedion.com production team provides, making problems with arguing about a visually appealing and stimulating website something that was virtually non-existent...the fans would be creating and electing what they wanted to see on 'their' board monthly. No arguing about something that isn't 'good enough."

 

 

But say we did get our wishes listened to, everyone. Then what? Let's say that this board is constructed on celinedion.com and we are given guidelines to what we can do and priveleges as well. Say there were a couple of contests and features here and there like: One contest regarding the background graphic artwork and layout theme of the official conversation boards; another with questions to be answered and posted by "Celine" or someone else typing her responses for her; and then say a feature on this board where "Celine might occasionally peep in to share a few thoughts or photos from vacations-- sort of like an online journal where someone posts something 'personal'. Don't you think that perhaps these special features should be available to TeamCeline members? I hear lots of comments about how they're not doing as well as they could either.

I thought the same thing regarding the teamceline and no-teamceline - as you said Marisa. For sure, TeamCeline members should have something more - so that would be great for both sides. We, teamceline members would be happy hehe and people who are not teamceline would get interested in it and then, then more people would want to join teamceline.

 

As I said before, TeamCeline has to improve. Of course we want to hear more about Celine "by herself" but I think we truly understand the fact that she is only one person while we - fans - are zilions. What I want to say is that we know Celine is super busy and I - personally - don't want to make it "harder" for her 'cause I would prefer 100% no doutb about it - that she spends more time with her family (RC, Rene, her mother etc) - but on the other hand, I think it's possible to ajust those things. Just like you said, Marisa, it doesn't necessary need to be Celine herself in front of a computer reading & writings stuffs and recording videos for us (teamceline) all the time, meeting and all that. But someone can "represent" her, be the messenger, right

That's not to say I think it should be completely equal (there are some fans who cannot afford to pay money every year or two for a membership--and they should be able to get some things)...but just a little more exclusivity for paying members.

 

The only negative point I find, though, is that it doesn't seem to matter that some people are TeamCeline members, because there are some members who take the material and make it avaialble to others who are not registered members of TeamCeline. So if something special were awarded to the TeamCeline members it's kind of like: does it really matter in the end when it is made available to anyone afterall?

 

That's where I think it gets hard. And in a way, to be really honest I think that's where we fans kind of shoot ourselves in the foot as a 'community'. Haha. I mean-- think about it-- I know it's not like we all copy the material from TeamCeline, but the fact is that when anyone does, they create another reason for everyone to be unhappy with the TeamCeline.com website. Because the one thing that we treasure about it enough to pay for (some little hints of exclusivity and video greetings etc) are being provided to others for FREE. It's not that it's teamceline's fault, in that case, but 'our' own as fans. It's kind of our responsibility to say to those who do it "No, you know what, it's not right and it's not okay with me." But we don't. That's not to say that I have any harsh feelings for those who like to provide for their less-fan-fortunate friends but it's just my view-point on the issue. In that way it is our choice.

 

There isn't much respect for online rules or copyrights...or music by recording artists for that matter. I mean I know it's wonderful and generous to share. As fans we want to know everything and we want to have all the recordings possible...we want to share with one another but it gets to be a tricky line to see. A hard boundary not to cross when it comes to these things with TeamCeline content.

 

I wonder if an official communication board would help with that, actually!

Because then everything would be on the official boards and it might work out better for photo and video sharing. Who knows.

 

Anway just spitting out my ideas and viewpoints.. mainly for members, actually.

Yeah, that's why I said that - I mean, what I meant for "exclusivity" was not videos, photos etc. But some contests - like they have for meetings and tickets, AA orch 4 tickets avaliable for teamceline (when we buy tickets), some little stuffs that would make teamceline members more "comfortable" about paying that amoung of money.

 

It's true that every fan has the right to have access to all that info, etc - these materials but on the other hand, what about the people who paid for that "exclusivity" ? So, I think we have to be fair with both sides.

 

I also agree that with a official forum it would be easier to control those stuffs as videos, photos just like you said Marisa, too. because they would have more control of it - as only registered members would have access to that forum.

 

Its getting really exciting now hehehe 'cause I think - until now - we are having a very nice "conversation"

Today I read the news on CelineDion.com about the people magazine and it's great now. That's a great improvement. I mean, the news said that yesterday the magazine went back to Vegas to interview Celine etc and its cool - i mean, it's like we're getting to know what's going on Celine professional life. better these days.

Here's a few of my ideas:

 

- Add a section on the site for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Perhaps an area where people visiting the site could donate money to the Foundation?

 

- Remove the "How would you rate this album?" bargraph from each of the albums. It doesn't truly reflect how the fans may have voted. Each album looks like it has the same results.

 

- Update the video clips section to include "You And I," "Miracle," etc.

 

- Sell her albums and videos in the Boutique. I've never understood why they sell shirts and whatnot, but not her CDs and videos.

 

- Add the DVD single "A New Day Has Come" to the Videography section.

 

- A new layout would be nice. Maybe an "A New Day..." layout for the last year of its running in Vegas?

 

- Monitor the "Fan News" area more. That way there's no way anyone could be misled by any rumored news, and whatnot.

 

- Include an area where TeamCeline only members get to choose the first and/or second single from any new albums that are released. This way the fans are more involved and we'd have no room to complain when singles are choosen. I understand this one may be difficult to do due to contract negotiations, and whatnot. But, it's just a suggestion.

 

- Like some others have said, more wallpapers would be nice as well.

 

- Add an "Artistic Influences" section where Celine could put writers, singers, and producers whom have influenced her singing and music, etc.

 

- Add pictures from the Celine store in Vegas.

 

I'll mention more, but I didn't want to go on for too long.

I was just looking on the Honda Motocross website (My employer asked me to) and something that I liked was that for some of the key people in the management team, they had small biographies or features about their personalities and their duties in the company.

 

I thought that would be a neat thing to have as well...though I don't think it's much needed or anything...I don't even know if that's something we fans as a whole are interested in or what. (Are you guys)?

 

On the Honda site they did the biographies nicely so that the duties were marked out in a way, and it made it clear who you'd need to contact depending on what kind of issue you were involving yourself with. (ex: so-and-so is the go-to person in the company with ideas; such-and-such manages _____'s business dealings with corporations etc).

 

Like I said, I dunno' if fans are real interested in the management team but I thought it was neat to read about these people--even though I've practically no interest in Motocross--who seemed to operate in a sort of family manner.

 

(PS: I think we should thank celinedion.com for their clarification on the fan news/ news-in-general issues on the website since many here seemed to be so concerned).

But, well, it's like more a conversation, not a forum, I mean, not like this one - I mean, where we can post emotions (smiles) pictures, etc. The layout I wanna say.

 

Yeah Marisa, I liked your idea, really. I just dont know if it will be possible to do since there are so many people working for Celine... but it would be very interesting to pick up "the most important" ones like Patrick, Michel, etc... it would be very nice!

CelineDion.com needs a major overhaul. You look at artists like Madonna, and their entire website changes everytime a new album comes out. Its an investment of time and money, but I think with Celine in Vegas having less time to promote her projects, the website could be a really great promotion tool. And at the moment I think it is definitely not being used to its full advantage.

 

I'm a web/graphic designer and I would LOVE to get my hands on this site and completely re-do it. Here are some of the changes I would make:

 

1. Site Navigation: Currently Celine's site is split up into several different sub-webs. Its unnecessarily complicated and confusing to the user. If you want to see pictures of A New Day, you have to go into the A New Day sub web and into the gallery. Then if you want to see regular Celine pictures you have to navigate out of there and into the gallery of the Celine sub-web. I think its a little convoluted. I would get rid of the entire idea of sub-webs with the exception of the Boutique which should a link on the main navigation of the site and open into a new window.

 

2. Graphic Design: Celine is a singer and whats great about that in terms of the web is that your site can be as slick, edgy, and cool as you want. Design-wise there aren't the same restrictions you have like when you make a site for a bank. That being said Celine's site is dull....it doesn't pop, or catch the eye, or make you want to explore. And as part of Celine's management team you want a website that draws people in and makes them want to click around. That promotes interest and interest promotes sales. I think graphically, the site should reflect Celine's clean and elegant style, while still being technologically competative with other artists sites.

 

3. Music: There were two things that really suprised me about the site. First was the lack of consideration of her early career. Maybe it has something to do with Sony (or some legal issue), but how are all of her early albums, singles and videos completely ignored by her own official website? The second thing that suprised me was the quality and length of her music videos. They're tiny and only 30 second clips! If I want to see a full Celine video, the first place I would guess to check is her official site. Maybe its an issue of rights or ownership but I doubt it. I would love to see all her music videos being Flash 8 encoded, full length, and at a higher resolution. Also it would be nice to see all her French lyrics translated into English and vice versa. I know its a big undertaking but this is the official site and it would be a lovely feature to offer fans.

 

These are just a few things I'd like to see changed. There are still a million more in my head and I don't want to make this post any longer then it is. And I'm not going to even get started on Team Celine....thats a whole other cow.

 

An artists' official website should be the ultimate source for information, pictures, multimedia, etc and in Celine's case its not. Also, Celine is one of the top selling artists of all time and I don't think her site reflects that.

 

Like I said before...I'm a web/graphic designer and I actually started on a re-design of Celine's official site. I'd like to emphasize that its not anywhere near being done. There are only a few active links, there are definitely bugs, I need to create loading pages, and other things here and there.
