mine expired too and have not been able to renew it either ... when I try to log in it tells me my e-mail is not from a current account so I can't do anything else with it

Okay, so...first of all, this is not meant to be a bashing thread. It's just I'm not very happy with my membership and I know I'm not the only one so i thought we could discuss it and try to keep it constructive.

 

I have been meaning to write that e-mail to TC for quite some time but have not done so as I have wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt and have been waiting for them to prove me wrong. Yesterday, I received an e-mail from them to let me know that my membership expires in five weeks. Enclosed in the e-mail was all the info I need to renew it, but I am currently very much in doubt that I will. I have been a member since 1999, always two years at a time but have not received ANYTHING from them since 2004; the only thing that year being the lucky charm coin and a christmas card. Since then....nothing. My membership did help me get concert tickets for the best block during this year's tour, yes, but during the years 2005-2007, when Céline was based in Vegas hence was not touring, I had absolutely NO benefit whatsoever from being with them. At all. The only other advantage that comes from being a member is the percentage discount in the online store, but to be honest, after having received absolutely nothing from them for years, I have lost interest in even buying anything from them -discount or no discount. It really should not be so difficult to send something out at least a couple of times a year; newsletters, a couple of postcards, a leaflet, something to make us feel like we are getting our money's worth. I know times have changed and most info come s through the Internet nowadays, but this is rediculous. I am extremely disappointed with them and am seriously considering not renewing my membership again. Ever. I am aware of that an artist's fanbase can be your biggest strength or your hardest critic, I'm sure some (if not most) people do work very hard and this was not meant to be an attack on whoever is on the reading side of the e-mail I sent. I often do try to not yell and let my frustration out on receptionists/office staff or whoever is on the phone if I call a comapny etc. because I am well aware of that they're not the people responsible for whatever the problem is. I did try to keep my e-mail constructive, yes, but to be honest I don't feel like my criticism was unfair at all.

 

I know a lot of fans feel the way I do (and have done, for years), there has even been petitions from various forums sent to TC to try and show them that there is frustration and that people aren't happy, but nothing has changed. I do not ask for much; like I said a leaflet once or twice a year, a simple postcard....that is all I ask for and that should not be hard for any fanclub to do. Again; I did benefit from the ticket discount but that, as well, was a very limited benefit. As the ticket discount was the only thing offered (apart from the one in the online shop), that means that the years when she was based in Vegas and wasn't touring, I received nothing. Nothing. Forty dollars a year for absolutely nothing other than the occasional video message and information about a TV show or event that I, most of the time, have already come across elsewhere first.

 

To be honest, I felt like I paid for nothing; I could have just given that money away to anyone because it didn't get me anything in return. Céline owes me nothing, but the fanclub I feel very much does because they have my money. That's not to say they owe me A LOT, but something, anything. A postcard. I don't feel like I am being unreasonable or "too" critical at all, I'm just asking for some value for my money. The little things would more than make me happy, I'm not hard to please. I don't know, what do you guys think?
